November 29, 20187 yr Those pics were taken before parts of the terracing got closed off. For donkeys years the bit where the North Terrace joined the West Stand, plus the Shed by the floodlight pilon and the West Stand were all no go ( more corrugated iron than Steptoes yard) Were we really that skint we couldnt replace bits of concrete and barriers? November 29, 20187 yr That old North Stand shack really is a funny old looking thing. I suppose if had wrapped around as intended it would have been OK but the rest of the ground would have looked ridiculous.

The one taken at the north stand end is around the start of the 78/79 season. That’s when the steps were fixed and the barriers all changed. Right corner of shed was closed off as was the top of the north terrace next to the west stand seats above the benches.

Remember the first season back in div 1 84/85 we played Liverpool, the shed was packed out and me and a mate climbed over fencing and watched a few minutes in the closed off terrace by the pylon next to shed, not long before the old bill told us to get back over the fence into the shed!! "We're the pylon, we're the pylon, we're the pylon side of the shed"

Mostly Gate 13 or West Stand after but when I did venture back it was never under the roof unless it was pissing down. Funny how one minute you love being in with the throng and the next year just fancy a bit more elbow room and be able to watch the game more clearly.

Teenage niaviety for us, first half was so packed we thought for a laugh to climb over fence but when we got ushered back into shed by the old bill it was so packed we couldn't hardly see any thing so left midway through second half, walking out across forecourt and King Kerry scored, we won 3-1 I think. Remember before game Shed was rammed by 1:30pm and Liverpool coach reversed down behind East Stand, the shed spotted the coach in the gap between shed and East Stand and roared with fingers pointing "who the Fxckin hell are you" could imagine behind the coach windows, Hansen, Lawrenson, Dalglish etc think what the hell is this!! This wasn't the wise cracking, funny chanting and sporting Liverpool Kop, this was the infamous Chelsea Shed. Got a feeling a picture of shed a few pages back on here with arms pointing towards that corner maybe pre match v Liverpool. On a foot note, my mate ripped his Lois cords getting back over fence, he moaned like fxck all the way home.

November 30, 20187 yr This might be the game your picture v Leeds from 1966 was taken at Boyne. FA Cup 4th Round at The Bridge and we won 1-0, British Pathe News Highlights.

November 30, 20187 yr The Leeds Utd game above took place on 12th Feb 1966 watched by 57,847 spectators at The Bridge. Surprisingly there were only two booking sin this game John Boyle and Billy Bremner for Leeds. We'd beaten both the previous season's FA Cup Holders Liverpool away in the 3rd Round and now the Runners Up Leeds in the 4th Round.

You literally had to almost murder someone back then to get a booking though. I remember back in the seventies, the disappointment the players showed when they got booked, was almost the equivalent to a red card reaction of today.

McCreadie tackles Bremner. And in the 70's,(1970 FA Cup Final replay, which we won) the play just went on...
