Caption states it’s Burnley away in Oct 1979.

He really was a beast in the air. He was marking the likes of Joe Jordan, Cyrile Regis, Peter Withe, David Cross and I can't ever remember an opponent having the better of him over the course of a game.

I was shocked to find out there were seats in the back of the Stretford End. Did anyone ever have a proper go at taking it I wonder?

Remember some old hooligan years ago that end taking was mostly a London thing.

Not that I can remember. The only time I saw oppo fans in there was December 1972 when Leeds came for Doc's first match in charge. Some female Leeds fans ended up the the seats but, apart from the usual abuse, nothing happened. A few of them weren't bad looking either. Taking ends was a thing for most big clubs back then.

The days when football was much more of a physical sport.

I thought Glasgow Rangers did in a testimonial?

Chelsea 1984-85 1-1 draw. I’ve heard from people there it looked impressive

They came for a friendly in 74. I wasn't there so I can't say what happened. Some Rangers fans say they took the Stretford End, but United fans i knew who were there said they tried and were chased out. I know there was fighting on the pitch and in town where City fans joined up with them. But stories get embellished over time.

Celtic came down in 1972 for Bobby Charlton's testimonial and they brought a lot down. but the atmosphere that night was great but there were a lot of green and white scarves in the Stretford End that night and I saw Celtic fans wearing read and white scarves.

No picture unfortunately though would have been a great clip.

Last match of the season at Villla Park '92.

There was a pitch invasion by fans threatening to turn to violence and then Ken Bates decides to try and stop the fans........................

Well the CFC fans turn towards Bates, grab him and hoist him in the air running around the pitch chanting Kenny Bates, Kenny Bates.....

It was so funny and Bates looked well out of his depth.

Watching from the opposite end we heard ' Chelsea, Chelsea' in the Stretford End, a gap opened up and that seemed to be the end of it . Not even sure I remember any flurries of punches.. Tactical withdrawal I guess.

Nothing like West Ham at home a couple of weeks later. Similarly they came in from the West Stand about five minutes from the end and it really did kick off proper.

I didn't go to that but a couple of mates did basically said the same as you. That West Ham game was lively to say the least.

I think the 3-0 game 84/85 after the game West Ham went on an earlier tube towards Wimbledon and came back so they were packed on the tube ready for ambush at F B.

Also we had a night game around that time where West Ham were away at Wimbledon and was lively on the tube.
