There's a couple that I'd forgotten that they played for us. I put that down to too much beer and whisky over the years.

June 29, 20224 yr Have no memory of this game at all don't think I went was there when they beat us 3-0 not sure of the year can't be arsed Googling it. I'm going to have to work out how many times I've been to Selhurst Park definitely my most visited away ground.

June 29, 20224 yr This is a great video brings back so many memories best bit is how young the kids are and no adults with them my first Chelsea game I was 9 and went with my brother RIP who was 11. Started going regularly with my mates when I was 10-11 pretty sure no one under 12 is allowed in the Bridge unaccompanied now.
June 30, 20224 yr The Whitewall steps in the background.... The Sway that temporary end was informally known as for obvious reasons. Everyone used to pile down those really wide gangways when we scored.

It looked like we would win comfortably before they had a late rally to snatch a draw. At the time we looked pretty comfortable in mid table, but we went on a terrible run dropping tons more points from winning positions and then found ourselves in the playoffs. Should never have gone down that season. I know we bounced straight back up but I often wonder if we could have held on to Pat Nevin had we not got relegated.
July 1, 20224 yr Article about the appointment of Ted Drake as manager in 1952 and his subsequent career at the club. Some great photos in the article. Drake was the first person to win the title as both as a player. He had won the title as a player with Arsenal. https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/article/long-read-birth-of-the-blues-the-drake-revolution

Worse decision Bates made was giving Hollins the job apart from anything else it was disrespectful to John Neal who I don't think at the time had any health issues.
July 1, 20224 yr I've adjusted this as best as I can this was taken a few weeks ago apparently this was the 3rd memorial day. Some proper Chelsea legends on the flag we never forget our own if I see or get sent a picture that has a better view of the names I'll post it.

Agreed on the "piledrivers" though. Quite a few brought newspapers to sit on although I'm not sure how much that helped 😉.

Looking back it shows how badly fans were treated back then concrete slabs to sit on a massive fence in front of you and terrible khazis and yet we still went every home game 😆. Here's the West Stand bogs you forget just how bad they were !
July 3, 20224 yr I know of two that used to sit on the benches. One of them used to come and find me in the office on Monday if it was an away weekend. It was amusing in the office as visitors were frowned upon yet she was quite senior so I did not get any grief. On the end of season video on one season in the 90's I had to laugh as they were pictured on the benches wearing these horrible looking CFC type baseball caps with hands coming out of the sides holding a scarf.

Soon as the concrete came in, it was time to part with more money and by tickets behind benches block X Y Z!! 7£!!
July 5, 20224 yr Zola bends in Chelsea's third during a UEFA Champions League Second Round Second Leg in 1997.
July 5, 20224 yr The Loft 1970 against us Paul Cook ( Chelsea fan) of the Sex Pistols with his leg sticking out. Was the same as any other year Chelsea fans all over the ground. Other pic not sure who the guy in the cardi is think it might be Derek Richardson.

I was talking to a mate about the West Stand that era and what the beer in the green can was got to admit I didn't drink it often my guess was this stuff.
