I'm about 30 -50ft to the right of whoever took that picture. I remember turning up and thinking where the heck have all this lot come from. Good day.

Talking of Derby long walk....I remember a large group who wanted to keep out of the way of plod taking a loooooooooooooooooooooong walk to get to the ground with total autonomy...Led by the fellow himself DH......

Agree, the trees between the two sets of buildings on the left side of the photo are roughly at the junction of the high st and Kensington church street

One of our most important as well, laid the foundations for Ted Drake.

 

We had our own Fergusonesque figure in terms of longevity, David Calderhead, but management was a lot more hands off in his day.

Well the original Chelsea manager Player Manager was John (Jacky) Robertson  was a Scot :biggrin:

 

He played with Rangers where he won three consecutive league titles in his first three seasons. Robertson was the first player signed to Chelsea in 1905, and served as their player-manager in their first-ever season, in addition to scoring their first competitive goal.
