September 30, 201411 yr Looks like they've nicked their shorts from the Harlem Globetrotters- not that Terry Venables often gets mistaken for Meadowlark Lemmon
October 1, 201411 yr Another shot from the "forgotten" Cup Final, Chelsea vs. Charlton, the wartime South Cup Final played at Wembley on April 17th 1944, this time showing General Dwight D. Eisenhower being introduced to the players before kickoff:

October 3, 201411 yr Raquel Welch at Stamford Bridge for the 1-1 draw vs. Leicester on November 11th 1972, escorted by Jimmy Hill. It looks like a 70's Hammer film where a beautiful woman's siamese twin is a strange pointy chinned man.

October 4, 201411 yr Keith Weller in front of The Shed, early 1970's. Do you know the other thing i like about these old pics is remembering the adverts on the boards. I was to young myself Big Figure, Bluebeard, did you indulge? (sorry lads bit ageist ha ha). Watney's Red Barrel was awful, my favourite tipple in the early 70's was Double Diamond. Not a strong beer by any means, probably just as well considering I was 14 when I acquired a taste for booze. Long Life was another good beer, and Courage Best, mmm...
October 4, 201411 yr I was raised on Fullers myself, but on the old specials, the products of Scottish & Newcastle breweries would be the tipple of choice, usually either McEwans or Tartan.
October 4, 201411 yr Maybe room for a thread regarding watching Chelsea whilst pi..ed out your brains. On more than one occasion I've watched the match with one eye shut, otherwise theyred be two of each player. Theyres a well known CFC fan who many times has had to be walked into the stadium with the aid of a bloke on each shoulder, due to his over enthusiasm for for a pre match tipple. One of the lads who came with us to the QF at Bayern in 2005- started on the sauce at Stanstead at 5 in morning- cut a long story he went back to the hotel for an late afternoon kip- slept through his alarm- woke up at half time and watched the second in the hotel bar.
