My mistake, Sheffield United was year before, but I'm sure the round before, Everton had a penalty saved but Hitchy. We won 1-0 but I think the hoarding behind the north goal was up.

The Everton game was 1992. I remember the same night Roddy Doyle at an awards ceremony thanking Clive Allen for the goal. Also I think Wisey went to Cottee and bet him he would miss the penalty.

@bluehaze Yeah I recall Wisey doing that in a match, on a separate point that looks like Tommy Boyd to me, facing us. I thought he did a great job for us though was not at SB very long.

It is Tommy Boyd. We bought him from Motherwell. We sold him to Celtic in exchange for Cascarino.

Not our wisest exchange though I felt sorry for Cascarino after he signed, I went to the CFC pre-season open day and he was booed as a Millwall reject before he had even played for us.

On a better note I enjoyed reading his football commentary I think in the Times in recent years, as he pens some interesting points.

Think Cascarino only scored one goal for Celtic in his short time there.

Tom Boyd had just captained Motherwell to the 1991 Scottish Cup when we signed him. Boyd was a decent defender and would go on to score for Brazil in the 1998 World Cup opening match. An OG !

Tom Boyd played 23 times for us in 1991/92 before moving to Celtic.

Big Joe (pictured above in the snow) played in the Greenock Morton first team while still a teenager. He played alongside Neil Orr who moved to West Ham in a big money move (for the time anyway) in early 1982.

Neither player,I don't think played in a full Scotland International side.

I was at all three games Everton 78 absolutely boiling, QPR 82 George Davis is innocent on the pitch. Man Utd 85 as I said on another post so packed in the Shed we were put in the Northstand. Some American bloke wrote a book about Man United's firm one of the first hooli books can't remember it's name there's a chapter on this game.
