Wierd really but I still refer to the East Stand as the NEW stand! Nothing gave you goose pimples like walking into the forecourt on an evening game and seeing the NEW stand all lit up.

Titled 'Football Injuries (1970-1979)' from British Pathe News

Footage of Chelsea training, interview with Micky Droy and on the physio bench.

Never seen this footage before.

An early job for John Stapleton. It made me chuckle when Baldwin, Hollins, Demps' and Stapleton lined up near the edge of the pitch then, took a further four paces forward before the interview started! Probably looking for a bit of grass so as not to get their flairs grubby.

Chelsea v Newcastle Utd 1971/72.

8mm film of a Chelsea match at Stamford Bridge. The old east stand was demolished two months later.

The scorer at the end was Tommy Baldwin.Date of match 21st April 1972, result a 3-3 draw.

Hope this footage is okay to post.

Great find. A fans eye view.

Like the roll of karzi paper- sorry “streamers” as they were known that got thrown from the Shed. ( Think similar got slung from the Stretford End during the 70s replay)

One of those things you don’t see at football anymore- checklist before leaving the house for a game- wallet, fags, bog roll.....

Highlights of our game at The Bridge  v Burnley  back in Jan 1970.

Found this when looking for something else and I can't remember seeing this footage before.

Yes, I remember this game very well as it was the one and only time me, my brothers and my mate got involved in a 'dust up' with some Burnley fans. Being small and spindly at that time (not now though), I tended to avoid the rough stuff but, they started taking the piss out of Bonetti's hairstyle etc. and my brother, who is ace at local dialects, returned the piss taking by targetting their midfielder Doug Collins with "C'mon Collins, get thy finger out yer big poof." in a Burnley accent. Down they come, then some plain clothes coppers appeared out of no where, collared the Burnley fans and marched them off. Very funny because they ;left us alone!

I need more pockets!.

Then you get the coat with pockets and what happens every other time you need your oyster card or keys it takes ages to remember what pocket,

Or the alcoholic 'carry out' being openly taken onto the terraces in the mid - late 1970s.

That was a memory from I started going to football then !

My old man used to take a transistor radio in his pocket so he could listen to Radio 2 ' Sport on 2  second half match commentary.

He always wanted keep up to date with the Chelsea score and other English results.

We lived in the West of Scotland.

Those orangey / chocolate 'sweets' you used to get at the football.  (Certainly in Scotland in the mid 70s-mid 80s. )

I don't think they were ever sold anywhere else !

It’s been spoken about before but when the specials were “dry” you used to see bottles of fizzy drinks taken on board half full of spirits, plus bags of oranges injected with vodka.

A couple of times I’ve had to watch games with one eye closed otherwise there’d be two of every player. A fairly well known Chelsea fan in the past we’ve had to walk through to the turnstiles with one on each shoulder otherwise he’d had fallen over.

A funny one was the league cup final against Arsenal in sometime in the noughties- early kick off in Cardiff- coach picked us up at 6 in the morning at Wimbledon- mad looking loner  in the front seat drinking neat vodka out of a paper cup!

Can’t ever remember coming home from a cup final anything other than legless- your either celebrating or commiserating- win or loose we’re on the booze!

Just out of interest what part of the ground were you in?

27/10/1975 Chelsea drew with Italy Under-23 0-0 in Prince Philip Cup

First photo above.

The Duke of Edinburgh presents the Prince Phillip Cup to Chelsea captain Ray Wilkins left, and Italian under 23's Captain at Stamford Bridge, London, after the 0-0 draw charity match in aid of the National Playing Fields.

The Italian U23 captain was  Francesco Graziani  and he appeared in all of Italy's matches in the 1982 World Cup Finals in Spain, as they beat West Germany 3-1 in the Final to win it for the third time in their history.

He won the Italian Championship  with Torino in 1975/76 and was the top division's top goal scorer the following season in 1976–77 scoring 21 goals.

Graziani left Torino in 1981, moving to Fiorentina for two seasons and he missed winning another Title in 1981/82 by a single point to Juventus

In 1983, he was signed by Roma, with whom he won the Coppa Italia twice, in 1984 and 1986,

He was a member of the Roma side that lost on penalties to Liverpool in the 1984 European Cup Final in Rome.

He missed a penalty in the shoot-out.

He'd a good record for Italy when he played for them at full International Level from 1975 - 83 playing 64 times, scoring 23 goals.

Chelsea 5-4 Manchester City, Full Members Cup Final at Wembley in the spring of 1986.

The goals.

That City penalty at the very end kind of reminded me of the one we got last Sunday at Newcastle !

Away at Wolves in 1976/77. Div 2. April 1977.

Wolves  went up as Champions and we were 2nd.

Fans ripping the shirts off the backs of the players at the end. They would be sh*tting themselves if that happened today.
