My initial thought was Forest !

It might well be Blackburn, We played them on 3rd October 1964 at The Bridge winning 5-1 with John Hollins, Bobby Tambling and Barry Bridges with 3.

It wasn't Forest in 1964/65. We never played them at The Bridge until Monday 22nd Feb 1965, losing 1-0.

And the legendary kit was born!! When we play at Arsenal and the like, and play in all blue, the kit can look a bit boring, add white socks and it looks top notch.

Bobby Campbell's blue and white army!! That season always gets a little overlooked due to our obsession with 83/84 (a great obsession Ming you), but that 88/89 was great two, maybe we need another promotion season?.....only kidding. Happy days. "Boys in blue division two"

Yeah 1988/89 does get overlooked in comparison to 1983/84. Guilty !!

From memory in that review Bobby Campbell sings the praises of Durie- when you see him in training you realise how good he is etc.

Thats was probably juke box’s pinnacle. Don’t remember him pulling up trees at Spurs.

In 1993 he moved north from Spurs to play for Rangers.

In the 1996 Scottish Cup Final v Hearts he scored a hat-trick.

Yet the Final is known as 'The Laudrup Fina'l because of the brilliant performance of the Dane, Brian Laudrup.

Brian is Michael Laudrup's younger brother, who had a brief, unsuccessful spell with us in 1998/88.

 I thought he'd be a brilliant signing for us.

Durie was fantastic for us that season, and the 2 after. He should never have left and especially not for Spurs. 88-89 started horribly. I think we had 3 points from our first 6 games, and that wasn't helped by the terrace ban at the Bridge. Once we found some form though it was a really good season. That City away game is still one of my favorite memories of away games with Chelsea.

This was relatively early in the days of season videos. I think we had only produced a couple before this one, and they were mostly only made from footage at the bridge. This video included most of our games from the 88-89 season. The commentary in those days was pretty awful at times too. This one stands out for a laughable commentator that was brought in for the Swindon game (around minute 50 of the video). By his accent he may have been American. He clearly has very little, if any experience and cannot keep up with the play. The results are quite entertaining.

Durie and Dixon for me were a good pairing and like yourself thought Durie made a bad error by going to Spurs.

Until then he was highly rated by CFC fans.

I enjoyed both. Went to all home games both seasons and missed only a few away. There was something a little different about 83/84, maybe the success was new to many so we knew what to expect 88/89. The away following 83/84 was mind blowing at times, grounds wouldn’t cope in modern times with our numbers.
