It was jammed, all regulars. Place emptied when the Leeds coaches arrived and went to park up near the gasworks. Left the pub around 2 and was in gate 13 for the match. Scoreboard took one hell of a beating from the Leeds fans. Edited January 14, 20197 yr by Shug

If my memory is correct, that electronic scoreboard was brand new as well.
January 14, 20197 yr Graham and Ray Wilkins training in their early days - note the high squad numbers. Not sure what's going on with Graham's shorts in one the first pic!

However, did a quick bit of research ( in other words I googled it !) and found that the only England v Scotland game at The Bridge took place in 1913. The 1919 game took place at Goodison Park. January 15, 20197 yr http://www.englandfootballonline.com/TeamVen/VenMatchesEngLon.html The above information was taken from this site. I am surprised to find England have only played 3 home matches at The Bridge. I thought it was at least a dozen.
January 15, 20197 yr @erskblue, thanks for the information above. Like you, I thought that England played more times at the Bridge.

Bit different from when we played Charlton a few seasons ago and the pitch looked like a sandpit.

January 16, 20197 yr Pop Robson was some striker at his peak back in the 1960 and 70s. He played on until the mid 1980s. Making 674 first team appearances and scoring 268 goals. Yet was never capped by England ! He played for us for part of 1982/83. Loaned back to Carlisle Utd in early March 83 . Started 12 times, plus another 5 times as sub, scoring 5 times, Not a bad record.
