January 30, 20197 yr Derek Richardson Chelsea youth never played for the first team but technically Chelsea's first black player not as most think Paul Canoville.

Shame it's not the 80's though
February 1, 20197 yr Little roundabout story.... Im working with the nephew of Cliiffy Webb, who gave the Shed its name in the mid 60s. CFC’s in the blood, generations of the family are all Chelsea fans. In his words “ if it weren’t for Chelsea we wouldn’t be having this conversation.” Turns out his old man went to Norwich with Chelsea in the 70’s- met his Mum in the town centre on the piss after the game!
February 1, 20197 yr I don't know from which season this is but guess which club has the biggest attendance. Not bad for a club which is supposed to have no history.

Game played on 12th January 1929 with a 2.30pm kick off. Our scorers that day were: James Thompson in the 82nd and Harold Miller in the 88th minutes respectively. We then beat Birmingham City 1-0 at The Bridge on Sat 26th Jan in front of 56,953. Not a bad attendance for a 2nd Division team... Harold Miller again scoring. Before losing 1-0 away to Portsmouth in a replay in the 5th Round. The initial game was played on Sat 16th February 1929 before 38,474 1-1 draw. Tommy Law scoring for us with a 5th minute penalty. The replay was played on Wednesday 20th February 1929 with a 3pm kick off. Yet 31,966 saw it. No floodlights back then ! The ref for both Portsmouth games was a Mr Fogg Again I am indebted to the great bounder friardale site for this info. Cheers
February 2, 20197 yr 9,927 was the attendance given for that York City midweek League Cup tie in Oct 1986. Yet looking at the footage again. The Bridge looks to have about 20,000 !
