April 14, 20206 yr European Cup Winners Cup Semi Final First leg 1971 The Bridge in front of a crowd of 45,595 We won 1-0. Derek Smethurst in the 46th min. 14th April 1971. And 45,595 saw it. Amazingly we'd played Liverpool in the League at The Bridge on the Monday before it. We won 1-0. Then we played City away in the League on the Saturday ! Drew 1-1.

That was 83/84 season, Easter weekend, we went 3 up after about 30 mins, remember from the shed seeing a bit of scuffling in Fulham end, then saw an object fly in the air, a couple of mates who are Fulham said there were Chelsea in their end and the object flying through the air was a coppers helmet! Also remember the predictions before game were a crowd of 40k, the ground was rammed and the attendance came through as 33k!! Some dodgy accountancy there, Fulham had I think 3 pens in North Terrace, then the other section was Chelsea.
