1st May 1977 LWT - The Big Match: Chelsea behind the scenes  

Some footage behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge before a Chelsea league game in 1977.

This was on 'The Big Match Revisited' recently.

It was before the Sheff Utd home match.

Can't find match footage.

Bobby Tambling scores for us in 1967 FA Cup Final.

 

Here's a Pre WW1 photo of us v Liverpool at The Bridge.

'Crawford and Whittingham fighting for the control of the ball. '

Game played on 18th Oct 1913 at The Bridge, kick-off: 15:30.
We won 3-0
Attendance: 39,000.

Think there were more inside than the official attendance of 13,000.

 

 

European Cup Winners Cup Semi Final First leg 1971 The Bridge in front of a crowd of 45,595

We won 1-0. Derek Smethurst in the 46th min.

14th April 1971. And 45,595 saw it.

Amazingly we'd played Liverpool in the League at The Bridge on the Monday before it.  We won 1-0.

Then we played City away in the League on the Saturday !   Drew 1-1.

 

August 1971 at Stamford Bridge.

Remember a lad from school who came from Southampton, went back to Southampton that Friday night before game to see relations, when he came into school Monday Morning, he said soon as he got into Southampton that Friday night he knew what to expect as daubed on a huge wall were the words 'Chelsea are back'.

Lot of old bill for a Fulham game.

That was 83/84 season, Easter weekend, we went 3 up after about 30 mins, remember from the shed seeing a bit of scuffling in Fulham end, then saw an object fly in the air, a couple of mates who are Fulham said there were Chelsea in their end and the object flying through the air was a coppers helmet! Also remember the predictions before game were a crowd of 40k, the ground was rammed and the attendance came through as 33k!! Some dodgy accountancy there, Fulham had I think 3 pens in North Terrace, then the other section was Chelsea.
