Why does yesterday grate me so much?

Featured Replies

I don't know whether it's because it was QPR, but I feel a bitterness and anger towards referees which I have never felt before (not even Ovrebo). I've had huge arguments on Facebook over the game yesterday (most people agreed with me). I've had the conversation with 3 Arsenal fans (two of which Hate Chelsea pathologically, yes more than Spurs) and all of them agreed we were hard done by, I've had the conversation with my dad who is a United fan that doesn't particular like us much either and he also agreed that the ref killed the game.

I saw it again on MOTD when I got back home and nothing has changed my mind on the Bosingwa incident.

After yesterday I have gone from disliking QPR to hating them and wanting them to go down. I think it's also the fact that no other team in the top half will lose at Loftus Road all season which also hurts, never nice losing a derby.

Is the siege mentality we had under Jose coming back?

Does anyone feel the same way and still aggrieved?

Love your passion & that feeling you feel after a defeat like that never changes, throughout your life, irrespective how old you are.

Villas-Boas is a clever chap & will be a wiser manager after that match,Warnock is a one trick pony & AVB now knows it.

Siege mentality?, maybe, but did it ever really leave?,once a club becomes successfull the knives are out.

Aggrieved?,yes for certain, aggrieved at the inability of the ref to handle such a tie,but also the way we lost control in the first half and if I'm honest, the way in which Didier utterly let his teamates down.

I feel exactly the same, its the worst Ive felt after a defeat since the Barcelona game. And yet its also the proudest Ive felt for ages after the way we played in the 2nd half, our boys were absolutely magnificent. I am now counting the days until we get them back at the Bridge and I hope we absolutely batter the horrible w**kers.

Yes but not as bad as the Barcelona game. We will destroy them in the return & they will be fighting relegation unless they invest heavily in jan.

Yep, yesterday was an awful day all round for us, one of those ones u just want to forget about. That said the second half had plenty of positives to take home, the fact our 9 man team dictated play for 45 minutes and we could and should have got at least a point if nico had put that chance that Ivan put bang on his shiny head.

First thing I did today was check when they are coming to the bridge, I hope we absolutely tear them apart. I notice it's one of the last games of the season.... I do hope they are not in a relegation battle at this point and goal difference is a major issue etc. They had their day yesterday, and it was their day. But they have to come to the bridge and I have a little feeling that players, fans and anyone with anything to do with Chelsea will remember yesterday, the actions of their players, fans & of course the ref and do everything possible to get retribution. We will have our day. See u at the bridge...

Why does it grate? Because we lost to a mediocre team who hadn't won at home all season before yesterday. Because their best player was a ref who gave them the benefit of every single doubt all afternoon. Because in spite of having nine men for over 50 minutes we still could/should have got something from the match. Oh, and because QPR are a bunch of w*nkers. Still not our rivals though no matter how much they think so.

I think the difference for me comes with intent. I dont believe the FA are actually out to destroy Chelsea, I think they just tend to keep semi-compotent officials on staff and, every now and then, one totally loses control of a game.

After the Barca game was decided screwed up by a total nobody that UEFA plucked from obscurity for his first big game (and have since put back there) I honestly believed UEFA had engineered the whole situation to dump us out of Europe and get their darlings in the final. When Souness was lost for words on what a travesty it was, I knew it was not the kind of simple misfortune that opposition fans could laugh about.

The frustration is something I can understand, though. Yesterday was a clear chance to show ourselves as title contenders and instead we got one of the most bizarre performances ever. The fact that we nearly won it, and should have despite what happened, will just fuel our guys.

Yes but not as bad as the Barcelona game.

Agreed. That was the worst. Higher stakes, worse refereeing.

I do look forward to QPR's return trip. That should be entertaining.

I think one of the things that grates me so much about yesterday's game is it was QPR.

They made their way back to the Premiership, we've not played them in a good while (and I think last time was in a cup game?), but this was the first time in the premiership for some time, and they won. Now they really think they're the cock-of-the-walk

With the investigation into Terry and AVB combined with everything that happened on the pitch, I'm hoping that AVB and Robbie D can get a real us against the world mentality going on. The kind that Jose had here, when everyone seemed to hate us, and really knit the team together and get us on a roll.

As far as I'm concerned this could turn out to be a positive.

As nice as that seems, this mentality really messed with us once Jose left. Given the number of years we seem to hang on to our managers all I can see thisa chieving is problems for whomever comes in after AVB. I do appreciate the thought of building a strong team mentailty, but there are better ways than becoming everyone's enemy.

As far as the media is concerned there are a load of writers out there that are wuick to accuse Chelsea of all kinds of wrong doings, and that can seep its way into the psyche of all referee's, whether we like it or not.

Why was it frustrating? Because while all teams suffer awful refs, I cant recall any other team having so many Overbo/Foy type ref catastrophes.....certainly none that have gone in our favour in recent memory

I would also that what HUGELY frsutrates me, is that the QPR team clearly came out to bully our lads and yet it was our lads who walked away with more cards than a gift store..... Sturridge had to of been fouled a dozen times before he was sent off, some yellow card challenges in themselves, yet I dont think a single QPR player was booked by the time he was brought off.

At times Im glad I live in Canada. Had I been to that match live I'd probably be posting from a jail cell such would of been my intent to get at Foy.

I remember wishing in the second half that I hope someone put a huge bet on QPR or Chelsea players getting reds or something, ANYTHING that would lead into an investigation of the match (seems the only way that is done is due to betting issues,...apparently the bookies are more important than a legitimate game and ref accountibility) as it was clear as day that Foy had an agenda and that was to let QPR do whatever it took to beat Chelsea and to punish any Chelsea player who wouldnt take it laying down.....I wont say there is a conspiracy against us by some powers, but no one can logically dispute that Chelsea players and QPR players were being held to the same rules.

More of an internal thing rather than one that spills over into the kind of silliness that goes on around Jose sometimes.

Just a motivating tool in house.

Now that I agree with, it's just the way i read your "everyone hates us" i was expecting more of the public sh*te we had to go through with Jose.

I am all for motivating the team anyway we can.

Before the game i didnt really have any feeling towards QPR, a nothing team like Fulham but after yesterday i have some serious ill feeling towards them. I want to see them go down and stay there. Saying that i have more ill feeling towards Chris Foy. He is totally unfit to be a prem ref. The FA are suppose to being looking in AVB's comment but they should actually be spending their time looking at how useless Foy is as a ref and demote him down a league or two. He was clearly out of his depth.

It would be interesting to see how the FA might react to the defence that AVB would put before them as evidence to support his comments, prior to them fining him/club.

I was disappointed but I got up and got on with my day, you cant let it sit and wreck your head. I used to get really pissed off after bad beats like that, but theres nothing you can do about it, so move on to the next game, its a long season.

Ever since that night in the Champions League against Barca defeat doesnt hurt that much, because in truth nothing (football related) could hurt as much as that night.

Thats not the worst I've felt after a game, not even by a long chalk...It was their FA Cup, It was annoying because Man utd slipped up so spectacularly and we didn't take advantage, also the ref had a bit of a mare, but we should be well used to that by now. In the big scheme of things QPR are simply not that important, and neither are their fans....two bob just about sums them up...

Couldn't have put it better myself

Gutted to lose any game, but the manner in which we lost just makes it harder to accept.

chris foy is an absolute disgrace, should be taken out an given a good kicking.

As for that gobsh*te warnock, don,t get me started.

ok we lost..Lets forget it, its over n cant be changed..No matter how you view the whole scenario of the 90plus minutes..They scored one goal n we couldnt...To be fair to qpr it wasnt the ref that beat us , it was ourseves faced with a mentally strongside that went onto the pitch and BELIEVED they were as good as us..It was the mentality of our boys that lost the match...I now fear everton n arsenal more than i did 10 days ago...
