Maybe, but our game has lost any little momentum since the last game in the champs league. I feel things could get ugly if we don't put a rocket up our arses!

We didn't have as bigger problems back then as we do now, and remember we are lighter now without Nico (who liked a game in the champs league) and Alex.

Resisted gloating at the gooners today after their Italian Job went pear shaped, despite Arse Wenger trying to pass on more misfortune to AVB in the pre match build up......hope Chelsea do better in

Naples next week, get Talksport live over here now on an I phone app 'tuneIn Radio'(streams in tons of global radio stations) and was surprised to hear 99 % of gooners calling in want Wenger gone now....very similar to the sentiments on here,

Napoli are a good team by all accounts fast counter attacking style - would seem the ideal tactic to defeat our current laboured style of play. The city is a crime infested dump and the locals have a penchant for knife play. Hope Drogba is back in the line up and up for it big time. 7 days to make or break the season - oh what drama.

We will go away trying desperately to ensure we don't lose the tie in the first leg I'd say. Having the 5 man defense is a very interesting sort of thing, we're really going to have to try and stretch out the three centre backs with good movement from Mata, Sturridge and Didier.

The formation makes them very tricky opponents indeed, perhaps we might adjust and play the same way.

There are some really nice parts of Naples to be fair, although I'd agree with most of it. I think the fact Napoli play 3 at the back could make it easier for us to break them down, particularly if they play Aronica who personally I don't rate. Staying positive although we've not been great this season, this squad remains big game players. All of our decent performances came against United, Citeh, Valencia. Hopefully the lure of the trophy that's evaded them all for so long will encourage them to go the extra mile! Plus I think I'd die inside with the slagging I'd get from my Napoli supporting mate, so we better win :Connie_threaten: .

Come on you Blues!!

Fixed that for you Mod!

f**k it, we're going to go out the way we are playing, you might as well get stuck in. I am.

i think we'll raise our game and still go out, but with our heads held high, Napoli can really spank us which hurts to admit, so id be happy if we play well and only go out to an away goal or something

Cavani is probably in the top 3 strikers in europe.. Hamsik and Lavezzi are the other 2 of there big 3 and are awesome too

Ramires should be back though on the plus side

i'd play

Cech

Ivan Terry Luiz Cole

Romeu Essien

Sturridge Mata Kalou

Drogba

Wigan played 3 at the back.. enough said.

Early goal for either side would settle this tie.

Napoli are an out-and-out counter-attacking side. Apart from a good threat from set-pieces, they rely almost solely on pacey counter-attacks and like Chelsea create little from possession play.

Counter-attack is each side's only weapon, so it may be a case of first goal wins.

I think we need to replicate man citeh's 442 (when they play 442).

--- romeu --- Essien ---

- rambo ---------------- mata -

--- Drogba --- Studge ---

I think there is only one way to beat Napoli. We have to go out with the intention of beating them physically. If AVB goes with a lineup of "passers" thinking he's going to play a more skilled game we're going to get beat badly.

Chelsea needs to keep this game simple. Be physically dominant, control the midfield with aggression, get the ball to Drogba in the box a lot or into the corners for as many crosses as possible.

To play this style we will need to go back to our older players who have experience doing it...

Ivanovic --- Cahill --- Terry --- Luiz

I expect this back four to be physical and limit Cavani's time and space. Luiz is comfortable on his left foot and will be able to get down the line and provide some crosses. Every player in this back four is dangerous on free kicks and corners, add to that Drogba and Essien and that can be a big advantage for us in the game.

------------Mikel---------------

------Essien--------Lampard--

Mikel needs to be back in to control the space in front of the back four and help us regain the physical advantage we used to have over our opponents. This also frees up Essien to be more aggressive going forward and Lampard to make more appearances in the six where he can poach.

Sturridge------------Drogba----------------Mata

For Mata my instruction would be stay wide (forget trying to roam around and combine, its not us right now) and get as many crosses into the box as possible. Keep their back four under pressure and get Drogba and Lampard doing what they do best inside the penalty area.

Sturridge I would like to see cutting in and firing plenty of shots low and hard on the Napoli goal, don't look for perfect shots, just hard and on the goal to force rebounds for Drogba, Essien and Lamps.

Drogba just has to be himself, which he can be with this lineup. Get in the box back to goal and create problems.

I think this is the only way we win. If Sturridge is a non-factor bring in Malouda with the same instructions Sturridge had. Just get shots on target. Defensively, the plan would be to use Mikel and Essien to keep Lavezzi contained. He likes to dribble through midfield to open up spaces. Mikel and Essien should be there to play him hard and limit his time and space.

The #1 priority should be to dominate physically, second, to pressure their penalty area with crosses.

2-0 Chelsea

They play 3 at the back! Why would you play drogba? You need someone to stretch there defence so I would play torres. 3 cb's ganging up on drogba is a no contest and he dosn't like to run in behind defences. This is the perfect game to play torres as he will he will stretch there 3 cb's and leave gaps open for sturridge and others. Look at the wigan game when they played cb's and drogba didn't have a sniff!

If they have 3 CBs on Drogba, Mata and Sturridge will have a good time.

Well they didn't against wigan because the widemen will follow there every footstep! We need a centre forward that is gonna run in behind and drogba won't do that.

I get what yer saying, but we also need players that are proficient at making those passes in behind and we don't have that. I would rather Chelsea goes with what they know and with the players who know how to do it.

Nice and positive I see mate ha, you're right but Napoli won't sit back the way Wigan do, I'm sure they'll be more than aware of our current form and they'll smell blood. However, I still believe although is squad is starting to show signs of age, the majoirty of these players are still big game players.

That's exactly what they'll do, they did it against us. They show practically no ambition without the ball, they suck you in to their half and then smash the sh*t out of you on the break. The fastest team I've ever seen on the break.

So AVB will prob play the highline

Yeah for people who missed their games against City, they play a pure counter attack style. Drawing you in and sucker-punching you. They'd kill us with a high line.

They're abysmal in the league at the moment, kind of like Chelsea, because outside of a fast break they have no way to score against teams.

First goal wins in this case.

Getting physical isn't really an option in Europe, unfortunately- the referee will come down on it like a ton of bricks. The key to this game is possession, because if our midfield do their usual thing and give the ball away in the middle third, Napoli will devastate Chelsea on the counter attack.

I remember when they played us, they hadn't won in 6 games because they had actually been resting key players in the league in preparation for the CL and they up their game in the CL a huge amount.

I'm not trying to scare monger but with the way your defence is at the moment, I honestly think there'll be no English teams in the next round.
