Best Chelsea XI Abramovich Era

Featured Replies

Sorry about making another thread but this one really interests me, who would make your best 11 since the club was bought back in 2003, for me it would be:

Cech

Ferriera

Terry

Carvalho

Cole

Makelele

Lampard

Mata

Robben

Drogba

J.Cole

What I would give to see this team all on form at there peak! Thoughts?

You can't leave Essien out!

--------------------------Cech-------------------------

-----Paulo ---- Carvalho ----- JT ---- Cole------

--------------------------Maka-------------------------

-------------------Essien - Lamps-------------------

-----Robben ----------------------- Mata----------

------------------------Drogba-----------------------

Sub: Cudicini, Ivanovic, G*llas, Ramires, J.Cole, Duff, Gudjohnsen

Can anyone name our best team outside of these players? I think you'd come up with the 'most bashed xi in Abramovich era'

I would replace Carvalho with Gallas too.. despite my dislike of him now his Terry Partnership was brilliant.

I agree with Gem ... Duff Robben (when played together) is still one of the best partnerships I have ever seen... God we could do with them two on form now !

wouldn't include Mata too early.

I thought we got rid of Glen Johnson too early , although a bit dodgy at the back he was great coming forward and really showed a lot of promise with us which should have been nurtured also a massive shame that Mutu turned out to be a twat !

I would go with

Cech

Johnson Gallas Terry Cole

Maka

Essien Lampard

Robben Drogba Duff

Subs

Cuddicini

Ferriera

Carvalho

J Cole

Crespo

Ballack

Is it for the entire time they were here or just them having a certain period? Because as much as he is now a figure of hate and fun I would put Malouda in for the 12 months or so he had either side of 2 seasons where for me he was easily our best player.Not sure who I would drop though from footballohollic`s team, which is pretty much what I would pick. Maybe drop Ramires as he is still a bit new.

Best XI, IMO would be

==========Cech

====Terry---Carvalho---Gallas

Cole--Makelele---Lampard---Cole

----------------Mata

=====Drogba-----Anelka

but my favourites' XI?

==========Cech

------Carvalho---Alex---Ivanovic

-----------------Makelele

-----Parker---Lampard------Essien

Ramires-----------------------Gudjonsen

-----------------Drogba

Some people won't like this, but, If this is the players at their peak and best form then Torres and Sheva would at least make the bench for me as when they were good, they were very good. Not sure who I'd drop though.

I would think that you would need at least one good season at the Bridge to qualify. Otherwise you could argue that George Weah was our greatest ever player. Although on that basis I'd say it was Gullit.

Anyway, this is just too hard for me. Too many close calls for me to make a decision. So I started trying to think of a worst side but that isn't easy either. Especially to find a pair of centrebacks.

Such a hard pick.

Here is mine.

------------Petr--------------

Gallas--Riccy--JT---Ash

-------Maka-------------------

---------------Frank-------

Robben---Eidur----Mata

------------Didi---------------

An odd sort of bar stewardised formation that we used to play a bit when Eidur and Didier played together under Jose.

Bench: Carlo, Ivan, Essien, Ballack, Duff, Anelka, Malouda/Joe (It'd be a tough choice between the two, as they were both awesome when good, but diabolical when bad, also Joe loses points for crapping on about the atmosphere at Anfield)

To be fair the OP said at the height of their powers and in form... If it's while actually playing at Chelsea then you're right they wouldn't get near it.
