Strong reports coming out of Spanish radio station that Chelsea will move

early next week for Guardiola as he has indicated he wants to test himself

in the Premiership and returning Chelsea to the top is a 'great challenge'

Hasn't he also said that he is still looking to take a few months off before making any decision about his future? Of course that is an opinion that could easily be changed. If there is a definite possibility that we might get him it would explain why we are taking a 'couple of weeks' to decide on Robbie's future. I don't think anyone is in any doubt that if Guardiola is willing to come to Chelsea then Roman would jump at the chance.

I still cannot see this happening. What kind of football do you think he will bring, the players at Chelsea are totally different than at Barcelona , that is taking nothing away from how we play, I think we are more tactical that is how we beat Barcelona we didnt play them at their own game as Arsenal showed that when they tried it, it just will not work against Barcelona they love knocking the ball around playing the short passes. We went out to prevent that and to battle them down - it is what we done against them for years.

Will be interesting to say the least if (thats a big if) he comes.

If robbie doesn't get the job its a joke!! Pep will last a year at the most! Its easy when you inherit a team of future stars and he done so well because he is barca through and through, he knows the club inside out! Imo robbie is the man to take us forward he has done well at previous clubs and won us the holy grail! He knows our club inside out and players respect him....Roman if your listening don't be a mug!!

We have no Xavi or Messi. I think unless he went to City he will struggle in England.

Totally agree mate, unless there is a big overhaul and change at Chelsea within the team then I cant see how he would fit the Chelsea mould.

Besides I like the way we play, we play to our strengths and to our opponents weaknesses. For example, look at the Barcelona games and then the game against QPR totally different game and tactics. Its good way to be, as we play to our means, football isnt about having one tactic, Barcelona play the short passes and look for gaps and running off the ball which is great and they play that so well and are the best at doing that but its exactly the same week in week out.

We on the other hand know that we cannot play like that, so we play a bit more of a defensive game which worked against them.

Also Pep didnt need to teach the Barca team to play that way, they already played like that. If he came here and wanted us to play like that he would have to program out players. It could take ages.

He might want the job, but we don't want him. I can only allow him to come if be brings Messi and perhaps Iniesta and/or Xavi. For free of course.

Not if Lucas, Hazard, Torres and Mata were in the same side he wouldn't ....

Personally I cannot see beyond Robbie, he is Chelsea and has delivered the big one.

Saying that, I agree with Loz, if he is available Roman will go for him.

Just seen interview pre their match - Guardiola definately says he is willing to return after

a months break and will be open to an offer should a club 'seduce' him.

100% it is an open offer to Chelsea

Im pretty sure he said he will take "months off" not 1 month off. Saying that Ron said that we will have a manager in time for pre season. So i guess he could have some time off between now and then. If that were the case then he would have to be in contact witht he club about signings and who to let go etc.

Pep will be another AVB, he's great managing a team in the league he knows well but another league and that's the real test, like you guys are saying we don't play like Barca and I don't see us being able to adapt to that style of play unless we build a new squad but that'll take time.....give the job to Robbie he's proved he deserves the job.

I think some of you underestimate Pep as a coach. He threw out Eto'o and Ronaldinho right away and placed Messi centrally. He has developed the Barcelona tactics and performances by a country mile since Rikjaard were the coach. Think Robbie deserves a chance, but Pep isn't a man who only feeds on Messi's success.

I have my doubts about Guardiola at CFC in terms of how well his coaching talent can be applied to a squad that's so different to the one he inherited at Barca.

Having said that, I'd imagine appointing Pep would help our transfer target recruiting business.

I have two big doubts over Pep.

1. We have a completely different team, would he be able to adapt to it?

2. In every game where Barcelona have had problems (against us for instance) I have never seen him turn things around with some clever changes. It's all very standard stuff with him. If they're down, just attack more and bring on more attacking players. It's not like with someone like Mourinho who when he was here could make a couple of changes at half time and suddenly we played like an entire different team compared to the first half. Pep feels very limited.

To be perfectly honest, this is the first time I would consider him as being a success should he come to Chelsea. Looking at the players we are offloading and the players we are looking to bring in, we could have the potential to have a squad of players that fit his philosophy of football. Torres, Marin, Hulk, Lucas, Hazard, KDB, Ramires. Not that we will have all of those next season but if you look at those players they are quite similar to those at Barca and we already have a similarly structured formation. For the first time since all the talk about Pep began, I believe he would be capable of success here.

BUT. He won't be coming here anyway as he will be taking at the very least the whole summer off and probably the whole of the next season.

PLUS. We all hope and there is probably a good chance of RDM being here next season anyway.

So I reckon this kind of talk is pretty irrelevant anyway.
