Would actually not mind seeing him back here. If we keep RDM then why not have Clarke as his assistant? I like him and he did well here last time. I know that it will be hard to digest the fact that he's been at Liverpool, but in time I think we will be able to forgive him.

Maybe he'll hire Vialli, Gullit and Zola as his backroom staff ..

Hi guys, WBA fan in peace.

Looks like Clarke is destined for our managerial position; personally, I'm quite happy with the appointment. As a well respected coach, Clarke will fit into our setup very well seeing as our technical director Dan Ashworth handles all of the transfers and player contracts.

Just wondering what your thoughts are on this appointment. As Chelsea fans you probably have more of an idea than we do on his input. I know Mourinho rated him highly but there isn't much else for us to go by!

Hiya he was a great second in command to Mourinho but didn't really cut it at West Ham with Zola or at Liverpool...Not sure how he will cope with being the number one at WBA but I wish him all the best, now that he is no longer with the bin dippers or Wet Sham....

Working his way back to backteam at the mighty CFC haha.

As a number 2, it's very difficult to know what impact he had, or how good he is. Mourinho would have been successful whoever his number 2 was, as he's proven. Clarke is obviously dependable, loyal and professional, but other than that, we don't know. He left Chelsea to join Zola at Wet Spam, because Scolari joined us and Clarke didn't really fancy having his responsibilities diluted. After Zola was sacked, Clarke was out of work for long time, and then Dalglish took him on, and now Rodgers has decided to bring in his own men.

Will Clarke make a manager? No idea, it's a risky appointment. He has obviously assisted the best there is, Mourinho, but that's no guarantee. He has served his apprenticeship and I'm glad he's decided to make the move up, I think the time is probably ripe. Hughton served a long apprenticeship, at Newcastle and Spurs, and when he made the leap up, he proved proficient, much to my surprise. I don't think Clarke has what it takes but I will follow his progress with interest. I have often been wrong before.

It is worth nothing too that our defensive record suffered after he left. Under LFS and subsequent managers (until RDM was appointed) we were a shadow of the defensive team we had been under Jose.

I might be looking back with blue tinted glasses, but even under Grant we seemed to keep that strong, defensive mentality and its always been speculated that Clarkey was a big reason for that. It was clear, too, that Clarke had a great rapport with our squad so hopefully his man management skills are just as good at WBA.

Either way, so glad he has gone from a club i detest to one that I admire!

Very hard to assess whether he will be good or not but he must be a hard working man. Mourinho demands a lot from people around him. Hard working man=hard working team. He's seen how the best of them do it(Jose) and how the f*ckups do it(Kenny) so he should know what to do

So glad he is not with L*verpool.

Good on him, not only for getting a job as manager (of a decent club, may I add) but also for leaving that horrible club.
