The New 'Hazard'

Featured Replies

John Chapman mentioned them a while back in his 'Band of brothers' piece, can't say I took much notice, but it seem the youngest (15), is the most gifted, the rest are average..

His balance seems inhuman. The only footballer I've seen other than Musonda with movement like that is Messi. Its a bit early but I'm getting hopeful

We've been hearing that this 15 year old or the other wonderkid has signed for us yet very few of them have ever established themselves. I'll reserve judgement on this one but I worry these kids are over hyped too much and that footballers true talent tends to reveal itself when they play against tougher competition in the men's leagues.

I was going to say the same, no point getting excited yet. He looks decent for his age but it means nothing yet.

It's ok to get excited by players who show a bit of talent. Obviously not all of them will make it, but it's great to see Chelsea sign players of such ability to the academy, and not just the biggest and strongest guys they find.

i might be wrong but wasn't gael kakuta like that in his early years?

and Freddy Adu, and many many more.

He's clearly a level above everyone else at that age, and that surely means something. Yes, he might not make it and all that but for the moment I'm just glad we signed him.

We could have in the near future these boys playing in the first team (some already are)

Courtois

De Bruyne

Lukaku

E.Hazard

T.Hazard

L.Musonda

T.Musonda

Waregem

Is Charlie Musonda one of the above 2?

That's true, and most of the time kids of this age get their raw talent coached out of them as they get older - such a shame.

Waregem is the team that Thorgan Hazard has gone on loan to, and no, Charlie Musonda came with 2 brothers because we couldn't get Charlie without agreeing to sign the other 2.

Especially in this country. I used to go watch my mates young lad play junior football, and we even ended up coaching them for a little while. Pretty much every game we saw had coaches telling young lads to stop faffing about and just hit it long, go more direct etc. My mates lad was a brilliant player, 2 footed and very skillful but a bit quiet and not very physical. He eventually got dropped because "he doesnt suit the way we play". So his dad took him elsewhere, he ended up playing for Gretna just before they fell apart and was there best player in the reserves. He fell out with football when he was released as Gretna implded and is now playing locally.

Like Hazard and his wee brother then.

Mental.

Good point about players having their ability coached out of them, a key point is when kids are constantly told not to dribble and to pass the ball or hack it forward. It's important for a kid to learn to pass the ball but it's equally important that kids are given the confidence to run at and take on players. That said at the higher levels in this country the coaching has changed dramatically over the last few years and kids do now get a chance to develop their own strengths.

As for this kid, he's obviously got bags of talent, let's hope he keeps progressing.
