Guest Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 I just think that this man is not good enough, he has got an awful shot on him and he seems to be very weak in the challenge! I know i am being a bit forward seeing as he is only young and it is his first season in the prem, but I think that his positon in the team could be used better by Wright Phillips!
Tim Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Guess we probably should have sold Didier as well then seeing as he didn't set the world on fire in his first 6 months at the club?
Nibs Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 I've got big hopes for Kalou for the future but he certainly isn't the answer right now. And Sergey, Joe was a LOT better than that at the same age.
Maksimov Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 I've already been more impressed by Kalou during his first six months at the club than I've been of Sweep while he's been here. Both have showed only glimpses of what they are capable of, though, but Kalou has been more impressive IMO. Then again, he's probably played more games than Sweep already... Kalou's worth keeping IMO.
german-blue Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 It was a good decision to sign Kalou, but mainly for the future. I think SWP is the better player on the right wing.
Guest Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 kalou looks similar to robben. probably a little stronger as well... im almost thinking of Robben as a write-off and Kalou to fill his place *expects flames galore*
mad_mac Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 maka, I am not sure that he would replace RObben, but I do think he is one for the future. He shows promise, but he also is frustrating. However, back to Robben....I feel that this may be his last season with us. call it a hunch. I am not sure how much longer he has on his contract, but I feel that his constant injuries could be a problem and he will move on. I hope not, but I also think that we should be in the market for another winger as SWP SHOULD definitely be gone, if the club has any sense Scott
blizeH Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou has revealed he would welcome the opportunity to play for Arsenal. "Wenger said he thought of signing me? That's an honour for me, an honour," he told The Sun."Because he is a very great coach and I know that every single player in the world dreams of playing for him. "I have a lot of respect for him, he is one of the best coaches in the world so why not? "I am still under contract with Chelsea but of course I have plenty of friends who play for Arsenal in Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Eboue and Emmanuel Adebayor. "They are achieving huge things at Arsenal and watching them play is just beautiful."
evissy Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou has revealed he would welcome the opportunity to play for Arsenal. End of that article he also says that he will think about his future again in the summer. The whole article is probably total bollocks anyway... Salomon Kalou has been one of the better players this season from our squad. He has skill and some vision as well. His shot needs to improve if he wants to score more. Hope he stays with us. I think his attitude and humble presence is more than welcome in team with full of big egos. He can only get better IMO and he is still young.
Gem Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Off he goes then, take Malouda win him. That said, it's probably a loada rubbish. We'll soon know or not as the clun is getting hard on these stories and issuing statements on the website. If it was true, they won't.
Mr Chelsea Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I believe it's an old article its the one that was written when he was linked to arsenal earlier in the season chelsea are on the uppers and the press trying to kick us in the teeth and cause abit of anomisity and un rest
Zola's Love Child Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Hadn't heard about this article before. Sounds like he's seriously considering if he wants to be here, and if thats the case, and Mr Wenger wants to make a nice £10mill plus bid, then I think we have to take it. He hasn't set the world alight like we all hoped, and whilst his work ethic is brilliant, and he has an amazing day once every month of so, with some average performances filled in between, he isn't what we wanted from him, and I think that taking the money and finding somewhere else to invest it may be the best option for both parties.

Is there someone in this forum who expected Kalou 'to set the world alight' when he came? I didn't expect him to do anything but trying to break in to the starting eleven once and a while. He is still young and it feels he's been here for ages. There is no sensible reason to sell him now that he is clearly developed to a level he can be a regular starter. I also love his attitude. Never moaning about anything. I mean what is there to moan about being in one of the biggest teams in the world. Woudn't do any harm to Drogs to learn some manners from his younger countryman.
g3.7 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 he'll probably never be better than a backup player, and in an ideal world would get on the bench at best when all are fit. he's a million miles away from a player who can be a regular starter, although he had a good game last night against an average player in molinaro. I'd have no problem with him leaving in the summer, but stay or go, if we really want to play with wide players we will need to improve upon what we have. also I'd question the idea that he has a brilliant work ethic- he can't play wide in a 442, scolari commented on it and some of the worst performances under grant came when he was wide in a 442 (villa home, fulham home spring to mind)- is simply lacking the defensive qualities required to play there (think joe cole, duff, swp).
Chippy Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I think Kalou is getting a bit of a rough ride to be fair, he started out as far as I know as a striker and not a winger..Anelka or Drogba are put wide and they complain but Kalou to his credit has got on with it and made a decent showing. As Gullit 4 says he is not good enough defensively for the 4-4-2 and I don't yet know if Stoch or Quaresma are, that has been the problem and why Scolari kept saying he wouldn't play a 4-4-2. Malouda should be able as he has played left back in France but he played Winger there as well so it likely isn't much of a recomendation. As for the ArticalI think thats been dragged up and is not only old but was likely half made up at the time.

Well, I remember back when the transfer was made having conversations, thinking he could be comparable to Robben, not battling to hold down a first team place. I just think if we can get over £10 million for him, then we take he. It has been in and out of the first team at times even this season, and whilst his current form is good, I can't see him getting dramatically better at 23 already. He isn't going to get faster, and his biggest improvement I think has been his decision making.
ivorycoast Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 its the one that was written when he was linked to arsenal earlier in the seasonchelsea are on the uppers and the press trying to kick us in the teeth and cause abit of anomisity and un rest "Speaking to Setanta after Chelsea's 1-0 first-leg, last-16 Champions League win over Juventus on Wednesday evening the 23-year-old revealed he was honoured to be linked with Arsenal before heaping praise on Wenger and his side's style of play." If he really wants to leave, let the c**t leave. I have no patience for players who don't want to play for our club. Go ahead, go play for arsenal and win f**k all. At least you would be playing "beautiful football".
TheWestwayWonder Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 He said something dumb, and its been taken further out of context by the Sun. But if he really thinks scumbags like Eboue and Adebayor are achieving "big things" over at Arsenal, he is welcome to join them! Maybe they can win the UEFA cup next year! I remember when he and Kuyt made a young, fast, lethal partnership over at Feyenoord, and they were expected to be the next big things. After looking at that donkey, I would still say we got the better player. But like people here, I dont think he is much more than a squad player, for all his youth and potential. And to me, even if he could defend, I wouldnt feel comfortable putting someone as small as him out on the wings of the midfield.
Oblivion Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 .......AAAAAAANNNDDD that's what's not making any sense. Why play for a team that's won nuts for the last what, 3-4 seasons? That constantly underperforms in the league and bombs in the CL? None of it makes sense. Unfortunately, the same story was reported on Soccernet, which isn't as fickle as some other sources...so it may come to pass. Looks like we'll be going a-shopping come the summer.
icecoolguy22 Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 If Wenger pay 15 Millions, he can add Kalou to his 'golden generation'. I think it's complete fabrication, especially it came out last night. However if he really want to go, pay up and we will give you a lift to emirate. I dont rate Kalou any higher than Babbel, Nani ,Lennon, even SWP, he past the age of 'promising youngster', there will be no magic improvement in the next few year.
blueday3 Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Where is this alleged 'beautiful football' the Arse are supposed to have anyway, they have managed 1 goal in the previous 4 or so matches, and it was from the spot. I don't think he would actually leave us for them, but if he wants to wear pink boots and spend all year looking up at us be my guest.
