Assou-Ekotto bid

Featured Replies

Really.....another BS story, we are Champions of Europe, not a muppet team.

Chelsea are considering a bid to steal Benoit Assou-Ekotto from Tottenham.

With Ashley Cole set to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season, Chelsea need a new left-back. They are interested in Southampton teenager Luke Shaw, but signing just the 17-year-old would leave them with two rookie left-backs in Shaw and Ryan Bertrand for next season.

Bertrand is highly rated within Chelsea, but there is a feeling he would continue to benefit from experienced competition for his position. Assou-Ekotto was one of Tottenham’s best players last season, but the 28-year-old has barely played for new boss Andre Villas-Boas because of a troublesome knee injury.

Jan Vertonghen impressed at left-back while Assou-Ekotto was out, and Kyle Naughton has played in the position too.

Chelsea are looking at testing the water with a €6million bid for Assou-Ekotto, which would still give Tottenham a good profit on the Cameroon international who they signed from French club Lens for €4.3million in 2006.

I hope not. One of those players that if you saw him in a Chelsea kit you'd vomit.

Is it me or does he look like Snoop Dogg?

I actually think he wouldn't be a bad buy, whenever i've watched him play he's always been pretty solid in both attack and defence, and if Ash does leave we're going to need another left back to compete with Bertrand for the spot, and a more experienced one would make sense.

If people are saying no to him because he plays for spurs, lets not forget who the bloke he'd be replacing used to play for.

Nah it's not that, he's just someone who i have never really rated.

I wouldn't mind BAE, he's a pretty solid LB imo. However, I don't see why we should even be looking to replace Ashley Cole. He is still top class and has at least 1 year left in him at that level. Same with Lampard and JT.
