July 28, 201411 yr Bobby, Some guy on talksports was talking about it a couple of days ago. I believe, he was from Everton. So about 48 hours ago...?
July 28, 201411 yr What is there to fight? Diego Costa is going to be the first choice striker. There is, quite literally, nothing Lukaku can show in training or pre-season that will unseat Costa from his position. Short of a major injury to Costa or Jose getting sacked (and replaced by a manager that favors 2 striker formations), Lukaku is going to be riding the bench most of this year. I can totally understand a young player wanting to go somewhere and actually play instead of sitting around. Im just glad Azpi doesnt have attitude like this otherwise hed have never overtaken Cole Edited July 28, 201411 yr by Lane
July 28, 201411 yr Azpi really had no problems with getting into the team. Cole was no longer a challenge. Lukaku has no chance to dislodge Costa & Jose cannot afford to let Torres just sit around. He will play him & Drogba.
July 28, 201411 yr Not to mention Dave was already in the team last season so had motivation to get his spot back.
July 28, 201411 yr Im just glad Azpi doesnt have attitude like this otherwise hed have never overtaken Cole It's not a matter of attitude -- Jose and the Board paid top dollar for Costa in the market on the belief that he's the elite striker the team needs. Costa will be given ever opportunity to be the first choice striker this season, and there is absolutely nothing Lukaku can do about it. Even if Lukaku shows better form in training, it would be insane to expect Jose to drop a £32 million transfer down the depth chart in his first season with the club.
July 28, 201411 yr Of course, it really has nothing to do with attitude. Lukaku is set aside again. I just wonder whether he is even coming to Stamford Bridge to train at all. I can't say for sure, but I get the feeling he trains in Belgium and waits for Everton call.
July 28, 201411 yr FFP is a tough regulation for CFC to comply with, if the Toffes or any other non rival club are prepared to fork out 20 million + for a promising yet un proven at the highest level prospect that is really not essential to this seasons campaign then the CFC board going to take it. The rest of the above is pure speculation. His WC performance didnt help, so he bullied a very worn out USA player of the ball in the 1st mins of ET after sitting on the bench for 90 then scored against a very tired USA defence. When Belgium faced a proper team in the Argies they were found out. I will be looking forward to seeing him either way when I go to Goodison on August 30th.

I can't say for sure, but I get the feeling he trains in Belgium and waits for Everton call. Nothing to do with attitude? The lad has constantly got something to say that usually pertains to his desire to leave Chelsea if he's not first choice. Also we don't even know if he's been pushed aside as you put it when Hazard & Cortouis who was in the same International side also haven't reported for duty.
July 28, 201411 yr Lukaku didn't have very good WC, I agree. Costa was not too hot either. Lukaku must be judged by his two years on loan. He did well. Basically, it boils down to Jose who has not liked him much, that's my opinion. Jose can be a great tactician, but his attitude towards him is not what I would call very friendly.
July 28, 201411 yr Bobby, I thought it was already explained here. Lukaku might have an attitude as you put it, but some of us are not too surprised by it. Different strokes for different folks?

I can totally understand a young player wanting to go somewhere and actually play instead of sitting around. Apart from the goalkeeper today's game is all about 'squads' not just 11 players, clearly he doesn't understand that. If he hangs around he will get game time at a high level, leave and he can play all he wants at a intermediate club...best of luck, I hope he gets want he thinks he deserves.

You were saying thats not a reason for him been pushed out, end of the day we don't know if he even is and if he is we don't know the reasons why or not. But his attitude would seem most likely and you have to admit were you Jose you wouldn't be happy with him. Lukaku needs to learn he has to wait for a chance and not have it on a plate. Jose has every right to be pissed with the lad. Edited July 28, 201411 yr by Bobbywoodhogan
July 28, 201411 yr Lukaku if he leaves, he gets to play as a result of this. Perhaps, it will be satisfactory for him to play for a lower team? Who knows? To play every week, just might be better than sit around at Stamford Bridge.
July 28, 201411 yr Bobby, Lukaku is waiting for a chance to play for two f**king years. By the way, almost all youngsters are waiting to play with Chelsea for years. Not sure if you can show me just one who succeeded.

Not sure if you can show me just one who succeeded. Two f**king years yes but he did it out on loan, last season he should have stayed on to try and fight for a place but he wasn't willing to and all he's done is tun his mouth since. He's a petulant child who needs to learn some humility, Jose wanted him to stay but he wanted to go. Did you ever think the reason youngsters aren't coming through is because a lack of stability? We now have that with Jose, but he likes people who fight nit ines who bit h and moan cause they aren't first choice without earning it.
July 28, 201411 yr Bobby, Once again you only assume that Jose wanted him to stay. Personally, I don't believe a word Jose yaps to the media. He has told a lot of hogwash over the past year. Stability on Chelsea's team? Lol.

Stability on Chelsea's team? Lol. No jose said at the time, Lukaku was the one who asked for a transfer. You think what you want and I'll think what I want. Jose's the best in the world and he knows best, certainly better than Lukaku.
July 28, 201411 yr Bobby, Jose is the best tactician, I agree. Jose is also the biggest bull sh*ter around.
July 28, 201411 yr No jose said at the time, Lukaku was the one who asked for a transfer. You think what you want and I'll think what I want. Jose's the best in the world and he knows best, certainly better than Lukaku. Jose knows what is best for Jose and the squad. His goal is to win games and trophys. He isn't looking out for Lukaku or his career. From a keyboard, it's incredibly easy to say "He needs to stay and fight it out for playing time" -- but it's an incredibly different story when you're entering the prime of your career and facing the situation he is at Chelsea. There is no way he'll beat Costa for 1st team minutes this season (Costa will be given every opportunity to prove he was worth the £32 million transfer fee, and will likely be given a pass on any poor play this year as "adjustment to the PL"). If I'm Lukaku, even if I've got every confidence in the world in my abilities, I judge this situation as one where I'll be sitting more often than not. Jose brought "his guys" in, and I'd expect they'll be the guys he turns to first before he even looks in to me. And, at the stage he's at in his career, sitting does Lukaku minimal good. July 28, 201411 yr Bobby, Sometimes it helps to look at it from Lukaku's point of view. He must play to progress. Certainly, he is not ready to deal with Jose power games.
July 28, 201411 yr Well if Lukaku wants to leave then let him leave, i don't want someone who isn't up to the challenge of fighting for his place. If he stayed he would get plenty of game time just like all of our strikers did last season. Lukaku could have stayed on last season and made that position his own but instead he asked for a loan move. He hasn't been amazing whilst out on loan, he has been good, but not amazing. Having belief in your ability is fine, but what i feel we are getting from Lukaku is pure arrogance. He isn't nowhere near good enough to lead the line here at Chelsea, he still has plenty of learning to do. He should be getting his head down and learn from the best. It feels like he expects to be number 1 without proving himself at the club. Even the very best players need to prove themselves before they become the main man. July 28, 201411 yr Question to all those who think Jose is treating Lukaku unfairly, do you honestly think Lukaku is good enough to be a starter at Chelsea? Edited July 28, 201411 yr by Lane
July 28, 201411 yr Question to all those who think Jose is treating Lukaku unfairly, do you honestly think Lukaku is good enough to be a starter at Chelsea? Case in point, no way do I think he is but I think he'd be a great second choice
