July 29, 201411 yr I've had my reservations about Lukaku but have come to the conclusion that we should open talks with him, smooth things over, put a nice four year deal in front of him and ask him to sign, otherwise we are gonna bury the fat bar steward in the concrete support of a bridge over the Yolga.

If he's offered a new contract and Mourinho tells him something along the lines of he will compete with Costa and/or start as the second choice striker for the club, then he has a decision to make. If the club chooses to sell him this window then it's mostly because he does not want to have a future here. Edited July 29, 201411 yr by cfc88
July 30, 201411 yr the rags are saying Chelsea want 30 mill for him now, could'nt make it up could you ?? lol if any club is prepared to pay that much then good luck to them and good riddance to the boy
July 30, 201411 yr It is only good business if the club sell Lukaku this summer IF he does not sign a new deal, as his value likely more than halves from this summer to next summer. Honestly I would rather his sign a new deal and be the number 2 to Costa this season. But if he won't sign a new deal then the club has little choice but to sell.
July 30, 201411 yr The Peter Sage saga over the last few pages has been far more interesting than the Lukaku one to be honest.

July 30, 201411 yr From the Daily Mirror: Chelsea have put a £30m price tag on Romelu Lukaku's head, enough to put Everton off making a permanent move for him. Hopefully very true, I know this has already been mentioned but just wanted to point out it was in paper talk. Edited July 30, 201411 yr by Bobbywoodhogan
July 30, 201411 yr To be honest if we are to sell Lukaku I think we should be looking for £30M. Anything less and I wouldn't say we have got good money for him in todays market.

As someone rightly said earlier, southampton are putting insane prices on their players heads. Its time we started playing hardball over this and demand at least 30m instead of pandering to him and accepting a lower bid. 30m or f**k off.
July 30, 201411 yr We already made this mistake with Sturridge, but Chelsea aren't really ones for learning from their mistakes particularly quickly, so wouldn't surpise me at all if he goes, then next season Sturridge and Lukaku will be 2 of the top scorers in the league while Torres continues to miss open goals for us.

Pretty much spot on
July 30, 201411 yr Hilarious how some Chelsea fans turned on Lukaku and have fallen over themselves to vilify him in order to feel better about the club. If we're honest it's all a bit Liverpool You keep saying this but I haven't seen too much of it, most are disappointed he isn't staying to fight for his place, and would just shut up and get on with it.

So what do you suggest we do then? We have signed Costa and Drogba. Lukaku doesnt want to fight for a place in the team, we know that from last season when there was actually hardly any challenge at all. So he has two years left on his contract. If he doesnt sign another one then this is the last summer we can actually make decent money on him. It seems to me that the best idea is to sell him this summer because if we make him stay then next summer he will only be worth half the amount we could get now. People compare him to Sturridge, to me its a totally different case. Sturridge tried! He played out of position, he went on loan (and never bad mouthed the manager or the club) and came back and tried to get in the team BUT the club wanted Torres to be the number one guy. Sturrisge realising he cant get past Torres in the team (even thought he should have) he had to move on. Lukaku on the other hand doesnt want to try and fight for a place in the team (from what we have seen previously) and wants to go somewhere like Everton where he is the number one striker. Thats fine. If he doesnt have the right mental attitude to be at a world class team yet then its probably best for him to go down a level or two and grow up a bit there.

You mean when he was on loan at another club? Would be a bit hard for him to challenge from there. Maybe he should have stayed like his first season and played the sum total of 0 matches.
July 30, 201411 yr You mean when he was on loan at another club? Would be a bit hard for him to challenge from there. Maybe he should have stayed like his first season and played the sum total of 0 matches. No, when he requested going on loan to another club.
July 30, 201411 yr No, when he requested going on loan to another club. Ah was that just after we'd signed a 3rd striker to be ahead of him in the pecking order?
July 30, 201411 yr You do know he was supposed to stay here last season and play dont you? He said himself that he asked to leave once Eto'o turned up. Last season was his best chance to make a real mark at our club and he bottled it and told Jose he wanted to leave.
July 30, 201411 yr So what's the latest saga on Lukaku? According to the Independent, Everton is confident to sign him. However, Chelsea wants him to show up at Vitesse & demands a higher price for Lukaku. It looks like the saga may continue for a few more days.
July 30, 201411 yr Bottled it or wanted to get as much game time as possible? He didn't get any game time in his first season, second season he was sent out on loan and when he finally returns he has 3 experienced international strikers ahead of him (including one we'd just signed), one of whom is notorious for continuing to get game time regardless of how sh*te he plays. He went out and improved and now he's back. This little vendetta you have against him is a tad sad.
July 30, 201411 yr There is no vendetta. Its all pretty much fact. Last season was his chance here and he passed it up. If he is as good as he thinks he is then Torres, Ba and an unfit Eto'o should have been no problem for him. Take Drogba for example. He was up against Kezman, Gudjohnson, Sheva, Torres, Anekla, Kalou etc. Ok they arent a great list of strikers looking back at it but every signing we made didnt matter to him. He was going to be the best! Lukaku turns up and sees 3 out of form, unfit strikers and asks to leave. That tells me everything you need to know about the guy.

I doubt he will play against Vitesse as he only joined up with the first team yesterday.
July 30, 201411 yr Ah was that just after we'd signed a 3rd striker to be ahead of him in the pecking order? If rumours are to believed then ba was expected to leave, but when lukaku put in a request he was kept. So 2 ahead of him.
July 30, 201411 yr If rumours are to believed then ba was expected to leave, but when lukaku put in a request he was kept. So 2 ahead of him. Ba was on his way to Arsenal for a medical before getting the phone call to return because Lukaku demanded to leave.
July 30, 201411 yr Uno, Of course, he won't play. Since he is part of the team now, as you indicated, then Jose may have a talk with him and resolve this saga?
