July 29, 201411 yr Yes, but if god forbid something happens to Costa its worse. Our options off the bench are also on par or worse then kast year Well maybe José is thinking of using schurrle up front. There won't be any chance we will only use drogba and torres; José must have other ideas.
July 29, 201411 yr At first glance this seems like a terrible move, swapping a 21 year old with a 36 year old. But it could be a master plan if, by some miracle we move Torres on too and bring in a capable replacement. Really not comfortable going into the season with costa, drogba and Torres. No idea who that replacement would be though.
July 29, 201411 yr My guess is we have offered him a new contract and he's turned it down, meaning we have little choice other than to sell unfortunately.
July 29, 201411 yr Bobby, First I got insulted, he said he was joking, I accepted it. Then you galloped here & became a pain in the butt by your constant posting on the same thing. Now, can you comprehend, it's enough? You say met it go then call me a pain in the butt? You didn't let it go at first. End of the day you act like an arse and your gonna get treated like one.
July 29, 201411 yr Our transfers were going so well and now this happens, if we have costa, Torres and drogba as our strikers I'll be annoyed, costa I am happy with but the others ones 36 and the other is Torres
July 29, 201411 yr If the fee is around 23/24m then add in the 5m paid for loan last season and its around 16/18m profit on him. That's serious wedge.
July 29, 201411 yr Look at it the other way, would we really be confident having a 21 year old lukaku leading the line in the EPL and CL if costa was injured? Edited July 29, 201411 yr by enigma
July 29, 201411 yr Cannot see why he is being linked to Everton when 'Lukaku I am the god of all gods' thinks he should be playing Champions League Football. He will never get it there in. Million years !

July 29, 201411 yr Look at it the other way, would we really be confident having a 21 year old lukaku leading the line in the EPL and CL if costa was injured? Much more so than a 36 year old Drogba or Torres, yes.
July 29, 201411 yr Well maybe José is thinking of using schurrle up front. There won't be any chance we will only use drogba and torres; José must have other ideas. We tried using Schurrle up top last year it was a disaster, I highly doubt he tries that again
July 29, 201411 yr My guess is we have offered him a new contract and he's turned it down, meaning we have little choice other than to sell unfortunately. This is usually a situation where I'd say it's on the manager to convince the player of the need to buy in, but I get the sense that Jose and Lukaku don't enjoy a particularly warm relationship.
July 29, 201411 yr We tried using Schurrle up top last year it was a disaster, I highly doubt he tries that again Thank you, people suggest this too often. When we've seen him play he hasn't looked good enough as a centre forward, infact I'd say he looked lost. I think some people are having abit of wishful thinking hoping because it worked for Henry that it will work for Schurrle.

Don't worry guys, we have been getting our 2nd choice striker up to speed in preseason and no one has even realized it.
July 29, 201411 yr We will be making good money off the transfer. However it's not as if we are short of money, bearing in mind the player sales this year. Really hope we reinvest in the centre forward position, im be seriously worried if costa gets injured.
July 29, 201411 yr I'd also add, if we sell lukaku, we would have to replace him with an under 21, or homegrown striker, as we don't have enough room to register another foreign player. Another reason why I think this would be a mistake.

July 29, 201411 yr Hilarious how some Chelsea fans turned on Lukaku and have fallen over themselves to vilify him in order to feel better about the club. If we're honest it's all a bit Liverpool
July 29, 201411 yr If he is going then I have no clue how Everton can afford him (no offense) Realistically if the Southampton teams top players are worth £20-25m then we should be asking at least £30-35 for him seeing as he is also young and proven in the premier league
July 29, 201411 yr If this move does happen I can't help feeling it's an odd career move for Lukaku as much as anything else. No disrespect to Everton but they can't offer consistent European football and challenging for titles like Chelsea. A bit of patients as 2nd choice and grabbing the opportunities of playing time presented and who knows what he could achieve this season let alone over the next ten years. Maybe I've got my blue tinted specs on but it all just feels very short term by Lukaku and Chelsea.
