Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

Huge mistake not to make him feel wanted said that last summer and this is the outcome.

Do you think we would sell to an English club like we did with Mata and Sturridge?.

Lukaku to Arsenal or Spurs that would be weird, spurs have a few Belgians.

Nah I doubt it, if we will sell him we probably will sell him abroad. We didn't see Liverpool or Man Utd at the time we sold the Sturridge and Mata.

Will be another one we regret like Danny Sturridge

I do....

Jose can talk the talk and walk the walk, whilst Lukaku is just a kid. You can't seriously expect to automatically get into the team, especially at a top club like Chelsea.

I'm pretty sure Romelu has walked the walk. For the last two years actually. He has done enough to get a shot at the starting spot. He should be given a good chance.

Havent all those quotes been made up and / or twisted? I believe the article is gone also

I saw a Belgian article, it had a quote with Lukaku saying that he knows that Costa is coming and that clubs are interested but he is fully concentrated on the World Cup. I still didn't find the original article he actually talks about a transfer.

If chelsea are gonna look up to age without consideration to abillity then they must quit football.

Lukaku is not the raw talent he was, he is sort of proven striker in the best league in the planet. He is still far away from being finished product and still has full room to grow but he needs to be given a chance.

If these quotes are true, kind of proves once and for all he has never had any intention of fighting for a place in the team. Sounds like he just expects to start so as someone else has said he'll never be a top striker. What top team doesn't have competition for places?

Again only if these quotes are true get rid of him and buy another striker.

Shame really as he's got a lot of talent.

Whether the quotes are true or they just twisted his words, he already showed that he is not up for competition or adversity. He's mentally fragile. He gave up after 3 games so I doubt the club or Jose would want him back.

Romelu Lukaku has confirmed his desire to leave Chelsea this summer as they close in on Diego Costa. #CFC (Mail)

Lukaku: "You know Chelsea, every year they buy a new top striker"

Lukaku: "I remember me coming into the dressing room last year and seeing Samuel Etoo & Demba Ba and going: 'Whoah! Whats happening here?"

Lukaku: "But its no problem. Many clubs are interested in me. At this stage I have to look to myself. I have to play a good World Cup"

Lukaku: "Thats very interesting for all the players looking for a transfer. And I must be one of them. Chelsea know my point of view."

Seems to me that Lukaku thinks he should be starting for us while Mourinho would rather see him fight and earn his place which Lukaku seems unwilling to do

It seems to me that this is yet more media bullsh*t.

Remodez  may well be correct in saying that the quotes have been twisted. I caught a little of the TalkSport "debate" on Lukaku this afternoon, in which Adrian Durham questioned why Jose Mourinho didn't fancy Lukaku. Amongst the theories proposed were that "Lukaku wasn't a Mourinho signing", meaning that Jose would get shot of him out of spite, or because he wouldn't be able to take the kudos or some such bollocks.

The assumption here was that Jose forced Lukaku to go on loan last season, whereas the fact is that it was Lukaku himself who asked ot be sent on loan.

That really is the level of these stories. Please don't anyone bother to tell me that "it's all over the media so there must be something to it."

Sorry, I'm not having it. I've yet to see one single article that actually mentions who Lukaku was talking to. One paper reports that "LUKAKU WANTS TO LEAVE CHELSEA", and then sheeplike, media outlet after media outlet compete to see who can come up with the most forceful "LUKAKU TELLS CHELSEA TO f**k RIGHT OFF" type headline. That's how it works.

Again it seems to me that far too many people are far too ready to come to a conclusion based on a concocted, or at best misrepresented headline and a series of questionable quotes as presented by the media.

If a team offers £25 million for Lukaku would you sell him?

Absolutely not! What would Chelsea have to pay a team to get a young kid that just produced in the hardest league in the world for the past two years? A hell of a lot more than 25 mil.

There is no other player in the world right now like Lukaku. There is nobody that is that young with the production he has had the last two years.

Thats the figure being thrown around at the moment, so if Lukaku does want to leave we are unlikely to get more than £25 million for him.

Makes me laugh when people imply a 20 year old kid dictated to Jose what should be done with him last summer.

It was clearly Jose rating the other strikers as better than him at the start of the season.

It was a mistake end of hopefully Jose can use a bit of manmangement and repair the damage before we lose a good player who has the potential to be very good.

Who said anything about "dictating"? Implied or otherwise. The sitiuation as I understand it, is that the player talks to the coach, they discuss the situation, and between them they come to an agreement. In this case, Mourinho allows Lukaku to have his wish. Allowing Lukaku to go on loan doesn't iimply being "dictated to",

Your views do seem rather cut and dried, failing to take into account many Everton fans impressions of Lukaku, reports of him fading away, not being a 90 minute player. It's not "clear" that it was a mistake on Mourinho's part.

Back to Lukaku's recent comments. This is a Google translation, copied from the Official Site's chat page, sourced from Het Nieuwsblad yesterday:

Lukaku missed training on Wednesday due to a contracture in the thigh. "I felt then that the morning training and the medical staff to take no risks, it sounded Friday in Knokke-Heist. "I need fresh start to the World Cup. I want to play, but the coach decides. In Brazil we have before the match between fact and still plenty of time to rest. "

Lukaku in the starting line-up against the Tunisians replaced by youngster Divock Origi. "Divock is very complete and I'm honestly impressed by his qualities. He is very strong in one-on-one situations, is very fast and has a good shot. He just needs some work on his physical stature, "sounded by Lukaku.

The last season at Everton on loan Lukaku gets after the World Cup with Chelsea in principle competition from Atletico striker Diego Costa. "I heard it too. Chelsea, however, I have seen a lot of focus in recent years, we'll see what the future brings. There are many clubs interested in me. First and foremost, we have to play a good World Cup. As Red Devils If we do it as a team, everyone is a winner ", said Lukaku.

Not quite the same as the "interpretation" that led to this current discussion, is it?

A 20 old kid with an agent, lawyers, representatives etc.

Lukaku had earlier admitted to the BBC that he had instigated the move away from Stamford Bridge: "It wasn't the fact that I wasn't wanted. I think I was wanted but I had to make a decision for myself and analyse what was the best thing for me." -- From the Guardian article.

This added to the the Mourinho rant on him proved it was him who wanted to leave.

Hmmm so a player under contract says hey coach I don't want to be here. Somebody should tell Suarez and let him have Lukakus lawyers if that is the case.

The managers job is to make good players feel wanted in this case Jose has failed but still time to not be stubborn and make amends do it Jose.

Come out and say I made a mistake I should have kept the boy he has the potential to be world class at Chelsea.

If Lukaku is really looking for a transfer, this goes to show what a weak man he is. Half the glory of becoming a fan favourite is proving yourself by outshining the competition.

Does he really think he's going to just walk into the Chelsea starting 11 that easily? This has changed my opinion on him now. He will never reach legendary status with that attitude.

If that's his attitude then let's cash in. I don't want to see weak willed team members who expect everything to be handed to them without earning their place. Send him abroad. I read Valencia want him for 25 mil. Send him there.

Such a shame really, the boy is good but like so many young players who hit form early, the ego has inflated to mighty proportions and he seems to think he's bigger than the team. Can definitely do without that. He can go be a big fish in a small pond somewhere and not progress if that's what he wants. We need team players who are willing to fight for their starting position by proving themselves.

Those situations are different and it's close to impossible to compare them.

Lukaku said he felt like he was wanted. Mourinho said in his first press conference that Lukaku was going to stay. How much more wanted could he have been? Lukaku was slowly being introduced into the team but he had no patience. He needs to learn a thing or two from Willian, Azpi, and Schurrle.
