June 6, 201412 yr Torres clearly aint going anywhere so we are not going to be able to keep both Lukaku and Ba. For me it has to be Lukaku (if he accepted it) as Ba is a finished article and he's still no better than a 3rd choicer. Lukaku is still only 21 and already is a better footballer than Ba IMO.
June 6, 201412 yr For my money all the "criticism" of Lukaku is exactly what has been levelled at the likes of Falcao, Lewandowski, Cavani etc. at the same age. We have nothing at all to lose by giving him a chance. Nothing.
June 6, 201412 yr Actually if he doesnt score goals and we dont win games then we have a lot to lose.
June 6, 201412 yr Torres has done it for years and still get's games. Why not a 21 year old who scores regularly in the EPL?
June 6, 201412 yr He cost around £20 million odd... He has a proven track record of scoring goals in England unlike some. It will be a joke if he is not given a chance (unless he demands out).
June 6, 201412 yr As i have said many times he will get the chance if he wants one. He had a chance last season and turned it down.
June 6, 201412 yr Sure! Send me a PM and i will tell you all about it. Thanks for the pm Mourinho told Lukaku he is not as rounded as Torres and Fernando is a big game player and you will be 4th choice. Lukaku laughed and told him to piss off.
June 6, 201412 yr They seem to think on TalkSport that we don't actually want Lukaku and are saying we are looking to sell him......................how the hell do they know ? They think that because we are getting Costa that means we don't want Lukaku. Hasn't it enter their minds that maybe we want both of them ?
June 6, 201412 yr You have to think, there hasn't been anything meaningful coming from the club to highlight their desire to keep him. If he is deemed an important part of the future (as we all hope he will be), wouldn't their be some sort of emphatic statement. I don't like the thought of it, but I can quite easily see Mourinho moving Lukaku on with Mandzukic being available. Would Mourinho prefer Costa and Lukaku or Costa and Mandzukic? We've bee waiting for Lukaku to lead the line for so long, waiting for him to develop, prove himself etc, so if the club sell him, it would be such a waste and probably a deterrant a to the best young talent coming to Chelsea over rival clubs. Would Mourinho really care about all this? He has the pressure to deliver trophies, and even with all the talk of long term implementation of a new 'philosophy', if Roman doesn't see the trophies as well as the change in style (as has been the case this season), how long will it be before Mourinho is in real danger of losing his job? From his point of view, the best players and the finished articles are what will make his job the easiest. If he had managed to win something this season, there would have been some more leeway for him to look at younger signings and use the young talent. I can see him leaning towards Filipe Luis over Shaw/Rodrigues, Mandzukic over Lukaku type decisions, like I said, quite easily, even though it won't sit well with a lot of fans.
June 6, 201412 yr DiMarzio the transfer guru posted this yesterday 25million gets him, maybe we would sell for less to an overseas club. Juventus is looking for a young striker to bolster the team. They have identified Chelsea’ Lukaku as their top choice, they would like to acquire him on loan with option to buy but Chelsea isn’t convinced by this option. Ironically Borussia Dortmund was also interested in Lukaku as an alternative to Ciro Immobile whom they just signed. Chelsea values Lukaku at 25 million euro, he is the striker Juventus would like to build their future on
June 6, 201412 yr He left on his own accord last year and if Mourinho and the club want to sell him because of his actions, then they should.
June 6, 201412 yr Romelu Lukaku has confirmed his desire to leave Chelsea this summer as they close in on Diego Costa. #CFC (Mail) Lukaku: "You know Chelsea, every year they buy a new top striker" Lukaku: "I remember me coming into the dressing room last year and seeing Samuel Etoo & Demba Ba and going: 'Whoah! Whats happening here?" Lukaku: "But its no problem. Many clubs are interested in me. At this stage I have to look to myself. I have to play a good World Cup" Lukaku: "Thats very interesting for all the players looking for a transfer. And I must be one of them. Chelsea know my point of view." Seems to me that Lukaku thinks he should be starting for us while Mourinho would rather see him fight and earn his place which Lukaku seems unwilling to do
June 6, 201412 yr Like Jose said: 'He likes to speak'. The boy has no interest in fighting for his place. Good luck to him.
June 6, 201412 yr Honestly, if this is the actual quotes from Lukaku hes coming off as a huge pussy and a primadonna. Stay at the club and EARN your playing time. Nothing is handed to you for free, you need to deserve it. Wont lose any sleep at all if we sold him Edited June 6, 201412 yr by Xfaxtor
June 6, 201412 yr Telegraph are now running with the story, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/chelsea/10883003/Romelu-Lukaku-tells-Chelsea-he-wants-to-leave.html. We seriously need to get another striker along with Costa then, if Costa gets injured (touch wood) we will be left with Torres and Ba who were 2nd and 3rd choice last year.
June 6, 201412 yr I'm convinced Lukaku doesn't have the mental strength to ever become a top worldclass player. Not up for a challenge and can't handle adversity and throws a tantrum every single time he sees something he doesn't like. Good luck at your new club, no chance in hell Jose wants him in the dressingroom. Edited June 6, 201412 yr by Sindre
June 6, 201412 yr Like Jose said: 'He likes to speak'. The boy has no interest in fighting for his place. Good luck to him. So does Jose
June 6, 201412 yr So does Jose Jose can talk the talk and walk the walk, whilst Lukaku is just a kid. You can't seriously expect to automatically get into the team, especially at a top club like Chelsea.
June 6, 201412 yr To some degree I agree with lukaku, he has scored 17 and 18 goals at other clubs so that's decent return, so he has proved he has the quality in the PL. What else can he do.? Well obvious Jose and lukaku have a problem and Jose expecting him to be professional, keep his trap shut and get on with it. Fair enough but remember he is only 21 and club have responsibility to get these young players aligned to club cultures and sort problems like this one But if he wants away like sturridge did then get him away but not at a sale price Hope he stays
June 6, 201412 yr Huge mistake not to make him feel wanted said that last summer and this is the outcome. Do you think we would sell to an English club like we did with Mata and Sturridge?. Lukaku to Arsenal or Spurs that would be weird, spurs have a few Belgians.
