June 4, 201412 yr Isnt it funny how the teams get punished yet the officials whose job is to enforce rules like these, get nothing.
June 4, 201412 yr Isnt it funny how the teams get punished yet the officials whose job is to enforce rules like these, get nothing. exactly. Terrible officiating. Its like us trying to bring 4 players on in a league match and the officials doing nothing about it and then deciding a week later that the result doesn't stand. Belgium won 5 1 anyway so I can't see that the substitution had a great bearing on the result
June 4, 201412 yr Didnt train today , don't know if its because of injury or the signing of Diego Costa.Huh?
June 5, 201412 yr Didnt train today , don't know if its because of injury or the signing of Diego Costa. Why would the us getting Diego Costa stop him training with Belgium ?
June 5, 201412 yr Didnt train today , don't know if its because of injury or the signing of Diego Costa. Why would it be because of Costa? LOL
June 5, 201412 yr I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope Lukaku comes back, along with Courtois. Cech seems like the kind of guy that would be willing to step aside for the younger generation if he was asked. We'll see...
June 5, 201412 yr I hope he comes back too, him and Costa as our main options would be an amazing difference to last season, fingers crossed we don't make another Sturridge type mistake
June 6, 201412 yr Who is to say that Lukaku wont ask to leave again? If he does leave I wouldnt blame Jose at all. Lukaku was asked to play for us last season and he didnt want to. What makes you think it will be different next season when we will have a decent striker claiming the one striking spot in the team. Lukaku had a chance last season. Torres, Ba and Eto'o in the team. If he had stayed and played well he could have got a lot of game time. This up coming season with Costa in the team I think it will be harder for him unless Costa doesnt find his feet and takes a while to adjust. I wouldnt be at all shocked if Lukaku bottles it again and leave the club for a smaller team where he will be picked not on form but because he is their main option.

June 6, 201412 yr Why would it be because of Costa? LOL NO IM NOT TRAINING AND THATS THAT. I AM DA CHELSEEEE STRIKER
June 6, 201412 yr If Lukaku does come back next season... Him and Costa is going to be a really physically imposing front line. I suppose it's going to come down to whether we can move on Ba and Torres.

June 6, 201412 yr Thanks for your valuable input. Good job! You gotta admit, it is groundhog day though! :)

June 6, 201412 yr Its like that in most threads on this site. I agree with that, especially in the off season.
June 6, 201412 yr Thanks for your valuable input. Good job! Think the point is Lukaku wanted to play full time football leading up to a World Cup...he has to be given slack that he didnt want to struggle for time between Torres Etoo And Ba. He's young and wanted to work on his game. And to his credit Martinez did the job. Benteke was unlucky to pick up an injury and now that fortune is bestowed upon lukakus shoulders. Good on him for being in the best position possible to succeed both personally and importantly for his countrymen. It will benefit cfc in the long run. Personally think he will end up 1st choice ahead of costa if end up with him. Otherwise Lukaku has to know he will be ahead of Torres and Ba
June 6, 201412 yr If we sign Costa and Lukaku will only be willing to stay if he is guaranteed first choice then let him go. If he is willing to fight for his place/be second choice then keep him at all costs. I think that Lukaku was desperate be a guaranteed starter this year because of the World Cup, however, next year he can hopefully accept with having a little less game time.
June 6, 201412 yr Fingers crossed! Although I would quite like to keep Ba. I could be trying to read too much into this but yesterday Hazard posted on his Twitter: Eden hazardVerified account?@hazardeden10 Miss my bro dembabafoot http://instagram.com/p/o3lsaWEm5-/ The photo is a picture of Hazard and Ba together. Would the club be likely to keep Ba around, even as third striker, knowing he is close to Hazard and not wanting to alienate him? (There's no football, I have to entertain myself somehow... Conspiracy theories are easy) No

I love Demba and he is becoming something of a cult hero, also he isn't a bad option to bring of the bench as we saw against PSG.

My concern if they were our three striking options is that Lukaku and Ba and fairly similar in their play style (although I rate Lukaku as a better player), would there be enough variation there?

Thats the type of striker we need though, especially when throwing them late in the game, it allows us to hoof into the box and hope for the best. Besides, I wouldn't want to waste money on a third striker if already have one (if Ba is happy to be third choice).

To be honest I think lukaku and ba are quite different, but they both struggle in the area you would expect them to shine and thats holding the ball up. Ba improved on this the more I've seen him, and Lukaku is getting better each season. Ba is more of a poacher, lukaku is likes to use his pace to get in behind, Costa is more rounded but is a good target man and links up well. I think as a trio it would work. If Lukaku can continue to improve on his hold up play, he will be the full package. The biggest obstacle in having costa, lukaku, and ba, is getting rid torres!

Besides, I wouldn't want to waste money on a third striker if already have one (if Ba is happy to be third choice). Neither player is that great with their backs to goal though, I would like to hope that we shouldn't need to resort to just hoofing the ball into the box to get a result so have two players with similar strengths could be wasteful. We could do with an Eidur Gudjohnson type player really, someone good with both feet, able to link up play but a decent finisher. Easier said than done though I guess.
