Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

"You know Chelsea: every year they buy a new top striker. I remember me coming into the dressing room last year and seeing Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba and going: ‘Whoah! What’s happening here?’ But no problem. Many clubs are interested in me."

This quote is pretty damning if true. Not sure how it can be twisted, so either its completed made up or he has no confidence in his ability

If he didnt notice that Chelsea had signed Ba a few months before Eto'o even turned up then he must be blind.

To be at a big club, a world class club in fact you have to have players who will fight you for your place in the team. Thats why these big clubs win because they have good squads.

As i have said before if he cant handle the challenge he will have to take a step down and play for a lower down team where they dont have a big squad and are a lot less likely to win anything.

Strikers are selfish but if you give up before you even try don't bother to come to Chelsea. Even Torres did everything he could to produce and he's never given up. And he's been under massive pressure.

Lukaku needs a good talk with Jose. Jose is good at laying down the facts. Take it or leave it type of conversation.

Seen this on Twitter, apparently taken via the Daily Mail:-

Lukaku "I have a contract with Chelsea after this summer and im not focusing n any move to Atletico"

Lukaku "In my opinin chelsea are still the biggest club in England and they have a very good manager"

52 more pages on the Fabregas thread and we could have a new record!

He seems to have calmed down a little on the leaving front:

"I only know one thing and that is that, in my opinion, Chelsea are still the biggest club in England. And they have a very, very good manager!  I have a contract with Chelsea after this summer and I am not focusing on any move to Atletico."

On his development under Martinez:

"Let me say that I am now the complete striker. I never thought I was a target man, a No.9 who could play with his back to the goal. I always wanted to run at defenders. That is still a great quality, but now I can do both. I love playing as a real striker in the box now.
I have been playing all season for a team which has more than 60 percent of the time possession of the ball. Technically I have been improving as a player. I play for a manager who makes his team play really good football and I don’t have to chase the ball all the time. Getting the ball so often close to the goal becomes a natural thing.
My concentration is better than ever on finishing, rather than on running with the ball. I am absolutely convinced that moving to Everton was the best step in my career. When you feel everything is working out, it makes you so relaxed and happy as a player in big matches."

If we had a perfect world, Lukaku would stay and prove his talent, and Chelsea would buy a determined, focused Balotelli to pair with him. This would create one of the most fearsome strike duos in the world, pure athletic talent. Alas, it isn't a perfect world and both players appear to be content with having sh*tty attitudes.

According to the Express:

Romelu Lukaku set for Atletico Madrid loan as Chelsea eye up £20m Mario Mandzukic

And according to the same article:

Mourinho is reluctant to let the 21-year-old leave for good, and Spanish outlet AS reports he is willing to let Lukaku join a top-flight club outside England on the condition that he returns to Chelsea for the 2015/16 season, when he will have a genuine chance to challenge for a place in the starting line-up.

Paper talk with no quotes, naturally. Interesting if true though. Lukaku gets to play for the current Spanish Champions, take part in next season's Champions League, and is expected to return to Stamford Bridge in a season's time, and is anything but surprlus to long-term requirements.

But as ever with the media, I have to emphasise - IF there's any truth to the Express story.

Unless he signs a new contract I doubt this will happen, as this time next year he will have just a year remaining on his current deal.

Yeah, if he goes out on loan again, he will probably leave us for good. Hard to hold affinity for a cub that keeps loaning you out.

Exactly. Especially while on loan, he puts in 15 to 18 goals a year, in the same league as the parent team.

Lukaku has a better attitude than Balotelli.

Okay people a question: Do you want Lukaku to come back as a number one striker or we buy Costa?

To me those are the 2 choices. Not because of the club but because of Lukaku's preference.

I'm sure Jose would take him back in a heartbeat as one of our 3 strikers if he'd show any signs of humility and fight.

Did you read what he said in the interview? I think those are clear signals.

He should have said: "I want to fight for my place and I think I'm good enough. I will do everything to make the squad."

which comment specifically gave you that idea?

"You know Chelsea: every year they buy a new top striker. I remember me coming into the dressing room last year and seeing Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba and going: ‘Whoah! What’s happening here?’ But no problem. Many clubs are interested in me."

If he actually said that regarding Chelsea buying Costa.

I'd have him back as second choice. plenty of games to g round and if last season proved anything, there is more then enough games where you can probably get away with two up front, and it might even be advisable. Take spammers at home. We didn't really need the extra man power in centre mid, but another striker occupying the back four and more importantly, two strikers who can do damage from crosses in to the box could have been the difference.

Please take not of the first word in the post before people start jumping on the Jose will never play two strikers thing

I think if costa doesn't end up coming here, Lukaku will train and beat out the likes of Torres & Ba...he'll be out first choice striker.

If costa does does end up coming here,

IMHO Lukaku will train and beat out the likes if Costa, (Torres) & Ba and be our first choice striker.

Torres* I think if costa arrives he will leave. Either on transfer or on loan somewhere...atleti?!?
