November 9, 201510 yr can not believe that george rr martin has still no release date for winds of winter, i have never known an author take so long between books. i honestly believe that he already had it written but is now changing it because he held it back far too long and now every G O T nerd out there has had time to suss his plot out. And how the f uck did he let the series go past the book???? you now have characters dead who are still alive in the books? i know the series is only 'based on', but come on mate there has to be some sort of parameter surely !!
November 23, 201510 yr i have never known an author take so long between books. Let me tell you about this English writer called J.R.R. Tolkien...
November 23, 201510 yr Let me tell you about this English writer called J.R.R. Tolkien... He only had two longer periods without releases afaik. Between '37-'45 (he served as a codebreaker from '39) and '55-'62 (helping LotR translations and answering fan mails, then sabbatical and early years of retirement). And of course writing books wasn't his only gig.

I knew he served in WWI but I didn't realize he served in WWII. Thanks for that info Bro.
November 23, 201510 yr Sorry to be pedantic but he didn't serve as a codebreaker - he applied but didn't get it. He did work at a university though; writing wasn't his only occupation.

November 23, 201510 yr no reason to apologize - the truth will set us free!!! Thanks! If you're interested in Tolkien, I read a fantastic autobiography by Michael White.
November 23, 201510 yr Thanks! If you're interested in Tolkien, I read a fantastic autobiography by Michael White. Thanks for that tip. Loved his books when I was a kid. Found him very interesting as I grew up & discovered why he wrote the books. I heard he used to visit a park in Birmingham & that was where he envisioned Middle Earth from.
November 23, 201510 yr Back to GOT, that poster/picture has really excited me. I want Jon Snow, Dany and huge battles again. I've really got to start reading the books again (ASOIAF). Completely stalled in A Clash of Kings. Edited November 23, 201510 yr by RichardCFC
November 24, 201510 yr Sorry to be pedantic but he didn't serve as a codebreaker - he applied but didn't get it. He did work at a university though; writing wasn't his only occupation. Checked it out, you're right. He was asked, did the course but in the end his service wasn't needed.
November 24, 201510 yr Thanks! If you're interested in Tolkien, I read a fantastic autobiography by Michael White. That should be biography, not autobiography, obviously.
December 4, 201510 yr Can't believe I'm going to have to avoid this series if Winds of Winter isn't out in time :(
December 4, 201510 yr Hope this season won't be packed with bran and his boring storyline. Wasn't missed at all last season.
December 4, 201510 yr Exactly!! But I want Arya to survive! And to meet up with Jon again. Jaimie to marry the Maid of Tarth? Or is that too absurd?
February 12, 201610 yr Author https://twitter.com/GameOfThrones/status/698237731541880832 All men must hype.
February 12, 201610 yr can not believe he has still not released winds of winter, i honestly reckon he is going to let the series creators finish first
