Willian

Featured Replies

Are you telling me he regards Chelsea fans on the same level as Madrid fans? Also, Raul was past it at that point and he dropped Casillas due to poor form/a falling out, he's not going to sell Chesea's favourite player before he's even had a chance.

He may not regard them on the same level but i believe he values their input the same.

Raul may have been past it but are we really comparing Rauls accomplishments at Real to Matas accomplishments at Chelsea?

With the Willian signing, most likely that Moses, Marin and Piazon will all be sold.

Marin and Piazon are on loan, they can't be sold.

Lets see how well he does week in, week out in a proper league first.

I suppose if Jose saw Rooney as the final piece then he would do just about anything to land him.

Does it matter, don't see them agree to be 3rd choice with best chance of 1st team football being the league cup.

marin was pants virtually every time he played for us. When he wasn't he was injured. Nothing lost. Piazon is nowhere near what we already have, so unless the virtue of being at chelsea at a young age means you should stay at the club longer then nothing much lost there either. Cold hard reality.

It takes games to build form after an injury - Marin was not given a fair crack

Great debating point.

You clearly don't spend 30M pounds on a player who can't play in a proper league.

Add to that a whole host of other signings in the £20m plus range. By all accounts Marin played awesome in his first game for Sevilla, while Moses played consistently well for us last year. As for Piazon, I don't know who the hell he thinks he is not winning world player of the year already at 19 and with limited first team opportunities. We should clearly sell all three of them now we've sign a player in his mid twenties for £32m.

Problem is Marin didn't play well for us. At all. Your piazon comment is one of those uber defensive responses when all I said was that he isn't a patch on what we already have. Seriously, we wouldn't be selling top class talents we'd be selling players who just haven't made the cut whether you like it or not. Playing them week in week out won't change that.

Moses is a different story but we haven't seen what the manager wants from him yet.

Its like a goodwin law: Torres.

Did he ever show in his spell at Liverpool that he can't play in a proper league ?

Sure he's lost his cutting edge but people talk about him as if he was never a good player.

I wasn't really addressing anyone specifically but my point on Piazon wasn't defensive (or wasn't meant to be) just highlighting his age and the lack of chances he's had. As for Marin last year was hardly a great time to be playing for a new club in a new country. I just feel we haven't given him a chance esp. when you compare him to some other players past and present who we stuck with despite their performances being average at best.

I'm thinking Jose sees a couple of our AMs dropping back into CM as they mature, so the position should dilute by itself with time.

Where would Chalobah, Ake, Ramires, MVG, Mikel go ?

Couple of AM's dropping back means 7 players for 2 positions.

This Willian move looks more like the club's move and not Jose's, he was already happy with the depth at attacking midfield.

Ake is a CB, Mikel is on his way out, Ramires is better in CM than what we have right now, but forever? That leaves just MVG/Chalobah throw De Bruyne and Oscar in there assuming they have developed their defensive responsbility, and it's a quality set of CM options.

Mikel's days look numbered and Lampard turns 36 this year.  Essien is also coming to the end of his contract and may not get a renewal.

I never mentioned Lampard and Essien. As for Mikel, he is a good enough player.
