How they spotted Hooligans in 1985

Featured Replies

The bloke on the right looks like a reject from Duran Duran.Flick a match in his hair and he would go up like last nights bonfires lol

Looks like Bob Geldof, maybe his Silicon Chip made him steam in. :Connie_threaten:

Where the Pringle Jumper,Lois Jeans or thick cords & white nike trainers, we all use  to wear then .

Used to own a couple of Pringle jumpers, these days they are silly money. Yeah proper clobber oldschoolcfc we used to look the business!

Funny how the scousers and mancs blag how they were the forefront of the fashion in the late seventies and eighties, everytime we played them at home and away you could spot them a mile away. And even then if one of them happened to have the clobber on it did not look right. With other London clubs though you sometimes did not know who was who.

The truth is you couldn't spot a hooligan in 1985. It is a complete myth as if you wanted trouble you got it, if you didn't you never got it unless you were in the middle/tea bar of the Shed when we played West Ham.

The casual dress was the green bomber type jacket, jeans and trainers with a small pin Chelsea badge on the jacket lapel.

Great days, passion far greater than these days ...

who recalls an old chelsea hooli i saw often in maybe early to mid 70s.....Called WEBBIE.....always saw him in a sheepskin

Do vaguely remember a Webby, man with a sheepskin that a horse took a liking to and chewed at Sheff Wed FA cup away game around 1973?

WOW...That match brings back memories.....Thats when i met up with a sheff weds lass after my PLEA to find her after a meet at fulham v weds It was in the sheff weds prog and ended up in a paper called sheffield star....AHHH those wonderous younghood days...Still send each other xmas cards....Thanks for that memory jolt

wHOEVER AND WHEREVER he is....(he wont remember me . i wasnt a pal of his)  but in the 70s it went off at earls court , on a train that had pulled in with our friends the spuds....Everyone was there  including Babs...The reason i remembered this webbie now, is that someone shouted out WEBBIES DOWN....A lump from a spud fist....I pulled him off the train as the doors were closing.....Pint owed i think ....He came to mind as i sifted through sporadic thoughts that invaded a nostalgia trip down memory lane

Sparkplug there was only 1 webby the other two brothers Pete and Clifford was far too shrewd to be involved in fisticuffs good looking chap and a trend setter for the likes of David Beckham and co what with he heavily tattooed arms and of course getting stabbed in the back while wearing he's sheepskin at Norwich
