The King is Gone but Not Forgotten

One of my boyhood heroes, so happy that he was involved with the Club for as long as his too short life aloud.

R.I.P Ossie.

wouldn't it be great to see a 'proper centre forward' like Ossie lined out for Chelsea in that 'kit' again..instead of these designer advertising shirts

could Bamford be the one?

That's a huge ask of Bamford.  Don't think he could make up the revenue loss of the shirt sponsorship ;-)

Met him at a fundraising dinner about a year before he died. I won an auction for a JFH signed shirt, and signed it too. Lovely genuine guy. Didn't have a good word for Emlyn Hughes though.

:laugh2: They all hate Emlyn Hughes, and rightly so. I met Chopper last year and he hates him, said pretty much everyone in football then hated him too. Even his own team mates.

Yea, he said he wasn't alone in hating him, although he had special reason due to Hughes breaking his leg.

I was quite surprised at this, due to how jovial the guy seemed on Question of Sport. The dirty basterd has a statue devoted to him at Barrow In Furness.

Chopper told me he once started a game against the dippers and all he wanted to do was smash him, and he did him a beauty. Liverpool player Tommy Smith walked up to him right after the foul and said "you know what lad, I could grow to like you"  :laugh2:

I know it's getting off thread a little, but found this snippet on Wikipedia.

In 2008, Tommy Smith claimed in his autobiography, that on 8 May 1972, Hughes told him that he had been speaking to a number of Arsenal players, and they had said they were "willing to throw a match for £50 a man" in a vital match at Highbury which decided the title. Liverpool failed to win and the title went to Derby County. Smith wrote that he was disgusted with what Hughes said and never spoke to him again. Smith maintained that the only witness was Ian Callaghan. Smith also stated that he wasn't sure whether Hughes was suggesting that they bribe the Arsenal players or had told him this so he would be incriminated. Smith said he never told Shankly because it would have "Broken his heart"

Back in the 94/95 season our supporters club had ossie over and me and a mate presented him with some Waterford Crystal. Myself and my sister walked him down to he's hotel that night. Two years later I was in the dressing rooms at Stamford bridge and ossie was there doing he's thing so I asked him to sign my programme back then ossie's picture was always in the programmes it was a Coors advertisement he actually remembered me from two years previous. I was chuffed. Then back in 2002 we had him and chopper over and I went up singing a chelsea song and ossie joined in with me, the same night chopper sang ynwa lol. Lasttime I meet ossie I walked down towards the ground with him before the Barca game the one that messi got del horno sent off. Sadly that was the lasttime i met ossie I met him numerous times and each time he was a gent. Top man
