Diego Costa to Chelsea

Featured Replies

It doesn't help that Costa looks like a thug and agruero looks like butter wouldn't melt.. But if you don't think sky's ports influence the way news moves in the UK your deluded

Exactly. Costa has got himself a reputation and he looks like a thug. It's the media's dream. It isn't anything about agenda against Chelsea - they just love a villian. Be it Costa, Suarez, Joey Barton...............whoever.

I've just seen the stamps for fhe first time and imo Costa was fortunate not to get sent off. It was wreckless and he really needs to stop making himself a target. If that was a rival player we wouldn't be defending them.

What does annoy me however is how the media influence punishment for the FA to dish out. Furthermore I've seen the likes of Yaya and Kun get away with worse. It's the inconsistency from the FA which annoy me. Oh and the Scouser in the black was an absolute joke.

That's what's done it for me, is the inconsistency by the FA.

By us, it was not the focus at half time. There was not a yellow bar scrolling across the sky sport news scree.. It did not cover the back page of every daily the next day... If you are telling me that it received even 50% of the scrutiny that Costa got I'm calling you a liar.

Of course they do. Remember them replaying Essien's tackle on Hamman 5000 times in two days, and they also deliberately replayed the Drogba 'f*ckin disgrace' line after an ad break as if it were live.

99% of us feel aggrieved that Costa is going to be punished for something that wasn't a patch on Aguero's two footed stamp on David Luiz.

It's not right or fair that his horror tackle on Luiz did'nt result in a ban, just because the ref took action at the time, it's just plain wrong, the ref missed the severity and intent of that tackle.

If the FA ditched that rule and took action retrospectively on all incidents, even if the ref has seen it and took action, why can't they overide that decision ?

Think that's a mistake. It says Balotelli received a ban for a stamp following use of TV evidence.

When did Balotelli play for Chelsea?

Actually those words were used by reporters in the media, but I won't call you a liar for that.

What would be the point in covering it when the story ended there and then? There was zero chance of a charge because the ref had dealt with it in the match whereas the Costa story was going to (and has) run for a few more days, in the run up to the biggest game of the season.

Sky has it's own sports channels so of course it influences it, but I'm saying that isn't just limited to us.

I stated those terms were used in the aftermath, but that I didn't have a transcript of the commentary. Thought that was pretty clear but hey ho.

Those terms were used AFTER the match but I don't have a full trans...I don't have a list of all the words used in the commentary (because Barak specifically asked for what words were used DURING the match) of that game.

Does that clear it up?

You haven't really looked at what I've said, I've not cried conspiracy... Do I think the FA are inconsistent, 100% and we seem to come of worse but it's a kangaroo court.

My points are

Sky have stired this up, they didn't with other players

I belive it's based largely on Diegos reputation and look

I do believe if the game was not televised there would be no case to answer for.

I don't believe that it can be proved beyond doubt that he ment to stamp.

I do belive if not the city game this weekend it would have taken more time

Starting to overturn every referee decision would be like opening Pandoras box, the FA would be incredibly stupid to even consider going down that road

I think there are examples where they have. There's probably a reason they didn't stir up the Aguero stamp on Luiz when he did it. They certainly stretched out the Suarez story as much as they could.

I agree. We knew that when we signed him though.

Possibly. They are a public body so are beholden to the public and the media.

Agreed. These things are judgment calls though, as are all decisions refs make on the pitch. Again, his reputation will factor into it but I tend to agree that he meant to leave something on Can.

This I disagree with.

When Michael Oliver (the evil man from Tuesday) incorrectly sent off Kaboul in the 4-0 game against us the decision was fast-tracked and overturned so he could play in the next match.

Personally I think it's a good thing that these things happen quickly and we'd all be supporting it if Aguero had been in a similar situation in City's last match.

I am on your side ;)

The point I am making is that City also get action taken against then and also have fans who believe there is an agenda against them !

regardless of other players from other clubs being let off for incidents in the past, at the end of the day it's costa at fault here...love the guy, but he tried a sneaky one on can and he's going to get done for it...if the same incident had been against one of our own, we'd be calling for him to get banned.

as for all the media attention...yep it's overboard and as usual they've gone after us more than most, but that's what you get when you play for a big club and do something like that in the big game of the night against a fierce rival

I can remember the aguero one discussed after the match and for days after on sky, and there was much laughter and oh that aguero, he's a one" type of talk. .

Starting to overturn every referee decision would be like opening Pandoras box, the FA would be incredibly stupid to even consider going down that road

It's even worse when a player has committed an obvious violent foul but the FA can do nothing about it because the referee supposedly dealt with it. I think the FA are happy to hide behind that rule.

They wouldn't be overturning the ref's decision, they would be helping him make the right call.

So they go over every controversial call in every game? Yeah thats not gonna happen

it's true that reputations count for everything...how many times did scholes get away with leg breakers and there'd be a chuckle in commentary box about how he never learned the art of tackling...

costa has been billed as the villain from day one, press needed someone to fill the hole left by suarez...he has been treated very unfairly at times this season but on tuesday he gave them exactly what they wanted and more ammunition to carry on

So you agree with most, and on Oscar, as soon as you realise the value of willian you will have reached enlightenment..

Regarding agruero, he got away with stamps earlier in the season as well, he's my favourite non Chelsea player on the league but he's a thug.. He just doesn't look it

So they go over every controversial call in every game? Yeah thats not gonna happen

10 games every weekend, can't be too many incidents like Ageuros two footed stamp.

Anyone know when the decision will be made?

I believe it will be after 6pm this evening (We have up until 6pm to respond to the charge). If Chelsea appeal then they will be heard tomorrow.

The fast tracking is standard procedure so an offence can be heard and resolved before the next game.

Whos going to decide what challenges are worthy of further examination? What about wrong yellow cards that accumulate and leads to bans?

Edited by Xfaxtor

No point in even contemplating that this will be anything other than a ban.

Just pray to god it's not anymore than 3 games. I wouldn't be surprised if the FA handed out an extra game or 2 on top.

at the end of the day, costa deserved the ban regardless of whether other teams have done it. I'm sure it doesn't, but he won't miss the psg game away will he, an fa ban is only for games involving the English tournaments right (premier league etc)
