Diego Costa to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Can you make it happen this coming season? then I will not have his goofy face spoiling my Saturday afternoons. (or when ever)

Haha if I could I would, I've just seen it happen so many times with Ronaldo, Fabregas, Bale etc and they always seem to stay on for another year.

So at the end of the day, what is the hold up with this move....2nd thoughts perhaps? although Costa has said publicly that he believes he's coming here, even if he does I think we need someone else if Jose doesn't fancy Lukaku, Torres (I think he will still be here) and Costa just won't cut it against teams that 'park the bus', but where do we look if we are not going to give our youngsters a go. I think deep down Jose was very disappointed the way we finished the season and won't tolerate another season without a major trophy. More clearing out to add another striker to Costa is a must..

I know injuries are part of the game but I feel if Haz hasn't gotten injured when he had and same with Eto'o we'd have won the league. They were both playing superbly when they got injured and when they came back all their momentum was gone. I really think we should have won the trek last season.

There has been loads of negative pathetic clueless and down right lack of faith in Jose's belief that Costa IS the answer - there is no doubt the doubters will look mugs at the end of the season

Well he ain't exactly pulled up trees at Brazil 2014, just saying like...

Neither has Ronaldo, Cavani or Aguero. I guess all of those would be welcome either?

I'm not after a bleeding lumberjack, just someone who puts in the onion bag fairly regular.

Diego Simeone: "Spain were used to playing at one rhythm and one pace, while Diego Costa offers other characteristics."

If you don’t take advantage of Costa’s runs, you isolate him. He likes to exploit the spaces, to attack from deep positions."

"and to get on the end of final passes, but Spain’s football focuses more on the collective. Playing that collective game.."

He had a couple of chances in both games where they did find him but he did a similiar thing to what our current strikers do. He hesitated until the chance was gone and the defenders came and took it away from him

If he scores goals for us I wouldn't care. I don't care anyway, I would even love Suarez to play for us.

I agree he can do what he wants as long as he scores the goals but he isn't going to be scoring any goals sat up in the stands after gobbing at people and nutting them. He needs to cut it out of his game like suarez has simple as!

Why Benzema, because he scored a few goals now? Just read simoene's comments. It's all there about Costa. The guy should not be judged by two games in Brazil. Spain as a team were pathetic & Costa had no support.

He's had a decent tournament, and I think he fits our bill better in terms of he could play with other strikers a bit easier given he penchant for dropping deeper, but there are question marks about his consistency in terms of finishing, and also whether he might be bumped off the ball a bit too easy in the Premier League.

Costa will work for us, as Simeone stated above Spain's game didn't suit him. Our on the other hand is built for someone like him. Particularly if you consider the similarities in style between us an Atletico.

Spiller86,

No problem at all. I just don't feel, we should judge Costa based on his two games in Brazil. If I look at his contributions to Atletico, I have no reservations to see him with Chelsea. However, his nagging injuries are a bit tiresome. Since Spain is coming home soon, he should be well rested for the next season.

I think it all depends on what type of forward you want for the team. Jonty mentioned he just wants someone who can stick the ball in the net. I'd prefer more of an all rounder which benzema definitely is. I think benzema's 26 goals (all from open play) and 14 assists, trumps costa's 36 goals (4 pens) and 7 assists.

I agree benzema's finishing consistency is a question mark, however I think the same could be levelled at costa.

I think benzema's ability to link up and provide key passes for the supporting cast, plus his ability to score goals from nothing, would make him a greater asset than costa.

Costa has the edge in terms of aggression but that hasn't always proved to be a positive with him.

At this moment in time though benzema isn't available, although if real are serious about suarez, that could change pretty quickly.

Sounds just like all the Torres arguments again. In fact watching him play he is very like Torres.

Benzema is too erratic on his offered chances. Costa's aggressive play fits the PL competition better, I feel.

There havery been plenty of players that took the the premier league by storm without having a particularly aggressive nature.

I agree it would be nice to have someone capable of bullying teams the way drogba did, but I wouldn't say benzema is exactly a shrinking violet, and I've always felt even when he was at Lyon, that his game would flourish in the premier league, as so many french players have before him.

If costa does come everyone will be behind him and it will be a breathe of fresh air to have a player making runs and actually looking dangerous. He isn't my first choice but I'd take him over someone like Mandzukic.

Big blue,

We all have a different opinion. Despite of it, I feel Costa will bring much needed scoring touch. Anything than the stooges must be better. Let's wait & see.

I wish Mourinho could convince Aguero with his phone call to join us. He's the striker I like the most and fills all the attributes which Mourinho stated in January we are looking for. I still have regrets why we didn't signed him when he was at Atletico. :S

People need to stop saying Costa is a one season wonder. The season before, he scored 20 goals and made 15 assists playing as a 2nd striker to Falcao
