Diego Costa to Chelsea

Featured Replies

I think this is the issue at hand here. We are pretty much an injury (or temper tantrum) to Lukaku away from relying on Ba and Torres. Thats an unacceptable scenario. Costa is far and away the best player available. (Allthough arguments can be made for Mandzukic and Balo) He happens to cost a lot, but not that much more then any other striker on the market. We HAVE to get someone and Costa looks to be the guy the club wants.

Thanks to PSG we are in a fairly golden position, we could end up with a summer transfer window of Fabregas, Costa and Felipe Luis with net spending under 30 mill. Considering the amount we could realistically spend under FFP thats pocket change.

Top post X-factor. 100% correct we have to get someone in.

I think Ba is a better striker than many on here give him credit for, (far better than Torres is now IMO), from memory his EPL goal ratio is close to a goal every other game, but Jose obviously isn't prepared to start him regularly and if Lukaku doesn't come back that just leaves Torres. If that is the nightmare scenario we find ourselves with in August we cannot win the title.

I have made a point of watching Costa quite a bit in La Liga this season. On the whole I like what I have seen, the comments made about him not running with the ball are wrong, he has done it many times to good affect with Atletico. I will confess I hadn't seen him before this season and like I others I am not totally convinced, but the Costa who has played these two games for Spain is not the same player who has been a revelation in La Liga.

It was interesting listening to Thierry Henry after the Spain v Chile game criticising Torres for his poor movement when he came on. He was spot on with his analysis and it just reinforced, if it ever needed reinforcing, the pressure we are under to find someone to do that job and do it well.

Really sick of hearing this from people who claim to be chelsea fans! Seriously jt comes across has a really nice guy. If you are talking about the alleged affair key word here being alleged then your basing your opinion on a story that may or may not be true. If you are talking about the racism incident you know the one where he was found not guilty in a court of law then once again that makes no sense!

Seriously we hear enough sh*t from opposition fans about jt being a bad guy without our own saying it. Stop letting the media sway your opinion on him ffs!

Don't get me wrong, I love JT. However, he has done some questionable stuff, whether its true or not we don't know. Let's just call him controversial. The thing is Costa does all his 'twatish' stuff on the pitch, I wouldn't call him a terrible person for that.

What exactly is better for Chelsea, a player who is a hot head on the pitch or a person who has done some questionable behavior off the pitch? In my humble opinion, I take JT over anybody else over the years.

You can't say "He has done some questionable stuff" and follow it up with "Whether it's true or not, we don't know"

It has been alleged in some scum rag papers that he has done questionable stuff; he has strenuously denied it and no proof has ever been produced.

He was accused of racism, was taken to a court and found NOT GUILTY.  That is good enough for me.

You wouldn't call someone a terrible person for gobbing into his hand and wiping it in someones face? Costa is a thug but if he comes in and scores the goals we need I for one couldn't give 2 sh*ts what he does! Same reason I'd love to have suarez at chelsea

I wouldn't call him a terrible person, we only get to see what he is like on the pitch. He might be a really nice guy off the pitch.

couldnt care less if he is a colossal c**t. just so long as he does the business on the pitch.. who cares?!!? nice guys finish last anyway.

regardless of his personality, i just dont think he looks like a particularly great player. but, as has been discussed at length, he's probably the best of what is available, and we need a f**king upgrade, BADLY.

I don't know JT as a person, I don't know , well any footballer so to try and really make an accurate assessment of players in terms of how good, how law abiding etc isn't a trap I fall into these days.

Oh so many people bang on about the alleged affair and yes the two newspapers who broke the story had to print apologies but alas the press have the power and the evil intent to ruin people.

Irrespective even if such an affair did happen whose business is it? The reality is that thousands of such affairs happen its a matter between the parties involved, not a supporter of another club nor of the parties ex partners or their team mates.

What people forget that footballers are rich physically fit young men. What do the people expect them to do? Spend all their free time in church?

Final bit of this rant is when people point the finger and say they are role models. I don't agree they are footballers but lets suppose it can be argued they are does that mean all role models like mothers, farthers, teachers etc have to be sent t the tower if they engage in such activities?

If he scores goals for us I wouldn't care. I don't care anyway, I would even love Suarez to play for us.

Not this season but next

Can you make it happen this coming season? then I will not have his goofy face spoiling my Saturday afternoons. (or when ever)

Not so long ago we had a 1st team player who shot a work placement student with a high velocity .22 air rifle at our training ground. He isn't right in the head?

At the risk of a sweeping generalisation, professional footballers are probably not the sharpest tools in the box.

Suarez is the best striker in the world no question, he's in his prime and if you have the money it owuld be daft not to try for him.

Barca or Madrid should make him their no 1 target and sound him out, he's worth every penny it would take based on his talent.

Currently, Suarez is the hottest striker in the world. Perhaps, I shouldn't compare Costa to him, at all. Somehow, if Costa can score as many goals as with Atletico, I would be the happiest bug in the rug. Lol

So at the end of the day, what is the hold up with this move....2nd thoughts perhaps? although Costa has said publicly that he believes he's coming here, even if he does I think we need someone else if Jose doesn't fancy Lukaku, Torres (I think he will still be here) and Costa just won't cut it against teams that 'park the bus', but where do we look if we are not going to give our youngsters a go.  I think deep down Jose was very disappointed the way we finished the season and won't tolerate another season without a major trophy.  More clearing out to add another striker to Costa is a must..

His injured. If I were Chelsea, I'd want to make damn sure he was fit and healthy before purchasing him after the Torres and Shevchenko disasters.

Have we not already done the medical though?

i would love suarez to play for us, any day of the week. unfortunately though it will never happen.

If he passed the medical in the condition his in, there's a problem.

Apparently we are trying to arrange a joint deal for both Costa and Luis for a combined fee of £50m.

Costa, unlike Fabregas, might want to not confirm anything regarding his future until after the World Cup (probably addressing that a lot sooner than he thought).

I also read that Atletico are hoping to secure a replacement before finalising the deal.

So it's not just one thing but a mix of things why it's not finished yet... Still very early days in terms of the transfer window so there really isn't any rush at this point in time.
