Best goal you have ever scored?

Featured Replies

Sometimes we take ourself out of the house and play football! What is the best goal you have scored?

For me it has to be when I managed to chip the ball from one end of a 5 a side cage though a basketball hoop and into the goal.

Clearly I am the new Messi!

Been absolutely years since I played footie. I used to play for my school team and a local kickabout team when I left college, but I was a right back. Never played for a semi pro or professional team. I wasn't that good.

We were playing against a rough school for troubled kids one week. Our forward was absent so I was lumbered up front last minute for some reason. I still remember it because it was the only goal I ever scored for a team.

Was taken from a corner. I was positioned on the edge of the box on the far side. The ball took a deflection and bounced pretty much within striking distance. Took it on the half volley and struck the underside of the crossbar and in.

We lost the match, though I can't remember the score. Just the goal and coming home with badly bruised legs. They were a dirty side and made horrific tackles. As the only forward, I took a battering that day. Never went up front again.

I score stunners regularly in training but have never scored a truly admirable goal in a competitive game.

I suppose my best would have been at the Futsal national's I was at last year when I beat 2 players then smashed it past the keeper in our last game in the comp.

Sounds nice, must feel good finishing off a run as opposed to just piledriving in a loose ball like I did, haha.

Probably wasn't as elegant as I made it sound, being nearly 6"3 and fairly solid I more shove defenders out of the way than dart around them (I am a defender after all).

Haha me too. I'm 6"2, broad shouldered and shaped like a fridge (a mates words, not mine), which is why I would be a defender if I took it up again. I would never get away with playing up front these days. I would be closed down instantly.

I love scoring goals. In 11 a side I usual play as a left back or left wing, but my best asset of all is shooting powerfully. In casual 5 or 7 a side games I am a greedy bar steward who always plays up front and goes for glory.

My best goal was probably in a 7 a side match not so long ago. As a left footer I sometimes move out to the right to mix it up. A defender on our team sent a long 'Hollywood' ball diagonally up and across to the right wing, I was about 25 yards from the net.

It cleared a defender's head and I nipped in behind as it was floating in. It was the perfect height and I hit it first time on the volley, a complete round house kick about head height (similar to a Bale goal a few years ago), which I honestly couldn't have hit any harder or sweeter. It generated a ridiculous amount of power and rocketed in on the underside of where the crossbar and post meet!

Scored a few pretty good goals in 11 aside, also hit the bar and the post from a volley about the halfway line, which was annoying.

Best goal in a match was probably, I was just inside the left corner of the area, ball bounced down to me and I hit it first time, curled it in off the under side of the bar, looked pretty awesome.

Best goal in training - we were playing on an astroturf and using the hockey goals. I was jogging towards the goal with the ball, probably about 7-8 feet from the goal. The keeper took like one small step towards me and I just flicked i up over him and in. Considering the size of the goal and the space available it was pretty good. Got a round of applause from everyone as I jogged back.

Now bear in mind I've always been a defender and my shooting is shocking, just terrible. I was playing 6-a-side 5 or 6 years ago and had onlybever scored 4 goals in 5 years of it. We were drawing the last game of the season which meant we would lose the league by 1 point, 2 minutes to go. We all piled forward our keeper threw the ball as far as he could and as it came over my shoulder I caught it perfectly on the volley and it rocketed into the top corner without the keeper even seeing it. I played 2 more seasons and didn't score a single goal.

Play on Sundays with a bunch of work colleagues. Good fun.

Never really played much in the younger years so my technique is as shoddy as it gets.

Best Goal scored:

Curled in a low shot past the diving keeper. Wasn't too far out, but one of the few times I've scored.

Best Goal conceded:

As a right back / centre half I don't get in soring positions, unfortunately see a lot of goals go in the other way though!

A guy from Ivory coast, two us us up against him. took the ball over our heads on to his left, then again onto his right and SMACKED a volley in.

Don't know how he did it, we were floundering about trying to work out where the ball was before it was too late.

Embarassing to say the least. In our defence, the guy coached juniors so he was good. Aggressive, athletic and lethal (think Benteke).

I'd come on as a sub, so had a bit to prove.

Received the ball just outside the box with my back to goal, turned on a tanner and smashed it with my wrong (left) foot in off the corner of the bar & post! The keeper barely moved.

When I was talking to a mate after he said it all happened in the blink of an eye, defenders & goalie didn't stand a chance.

I play CB or RB so goals are not a usual occurrence.

However, in one match (intramural in college in the US) I tackled one of their wingers, passed to a CM in our team and then continued my run to the right wing. Got the ball back from the CM,mlooked up and everyone on their team, including the keeper, had pushed forward. So I took a half way line shot, started it outside the goal and sliced it in over the head of he the keeper. The CM that had passed me the ball ran over to celebrate, and actually got down on his knee and looked at my arse as if to say "is that where you just pulled that one from?" Sad answer, is yes

A few moons ago I was a relatively nippy little winger, Nevinesque or Mcallisteresque. Cup game we were 2-1 down, and it was the opposition taking a corner. Despite being a short arse, I was always stationed on the near post, our left, this time. They took the corner and it never left the ground a real grass cutter. Of course me being that side it comes right to me so I set off. Our forward is standing on the centre spot with 2 defenders marking him, before I know it, I've cleared everyone and it's 2 on 2. Somewhere between the centre circle and their penalty box I've done a 1-2 with our forward, still out to the left, me being a leftie I've took it first time. It wasn't top corner or anything, low into the keepers right but I caught it lovely.

I remember it because I got applauded by everyone, opposition and the few watching.

I thought I was the bollox, next week it was back to playing like a new born foal.

A little of topic, but on playing in those leagues some of the madness I seen was crazy. I played in the High Wycombe leagues for about ten years, Saturday and Sunday. I actually gave up Sunday footy as it was just too dangerous. A car driven onto a pitch, and a knife being pulled, but not used thankfully, and that was without some have pissed lump trying to break your leg because you skinned him. What were your thoughts on Saturday/Sunday games. The league I played in Saturday was of a higher level so less nutters, but some fantastic players, put any notions of greatness I had well and truly in their place.

Just last week in a game for my University team, a bloke on the other side got a straight red for a dangerous tackle, and was so angry about it he punched the ref square in the face.

What made it even worse is that the ref was about 70 and the bloke that threw the punch was far from small, he actually could have killed him.

Game got abandoned and I assume he'll never play a competitive game of football in this city ever again, madness.
