The Dreaded November

Featured Replies

Just one more game left in our October fixtures, an away trip to Shrewsbury in the League Cup. Then it's on to the 'dreaded' November. That month that we normally struggle in, question is will this be any different? Admittedly last seasons was not as bad as prior seasons but we still dropped some silly points.

The fixtures are as follows:

(Prem) Chelsea v QPR

(Champions League) NK Maribor v Chelsea

(Prem) Liverpool v Chelsea

(Prem) Chelsea v West Brom

(Champions League) - Schalke v Chelsea

(Prem) Sunderland vs Chelsea

The games that worry me are the away games to Liverpool and Sunderland, purely because these sides seem to get up for games against us.

What do you all think will we end the November curse?

We should get a hypnotist in during the training sessions to work his magic and make the players think it is still October

Liverpool is the only game I'm concerned with and its mainly because because Jose is playing too negatively and deep against those sorts of sides... I'd say it's going to be a draw right now and I don't imagine it'll be pretty viewing.

All the other games I feel confident about, a win away to Maribor and we're through to the knock outs and then a draw against Schalke is probably enough to see us finish top of the group.

WBA and Sunderland, based on their form this season SHOULD be routine wins.

do you think Jose should not play that negative?

actually I think it works well today and in Man City game, despite both with the same error from same person.....

this thread should be closed - any player coming across it could be psychologically scarred. We should be brainwashing people that Jovember is the month we take the Premier League by storm.

The Man City game I understood but when they went down to 10 men we didn't exploit the numerical advantage, instead we AAT back so deep their being a man light didn't matter.

We should have shown more ambition and confidence in our own ability at that point in the game and ultimately we paid for our negativity.

Today we played a United side missing key players that have been outplayed at home by teams such as Swansea and we went there and sat off of them and regressed further once we got our noses in front despite there being around 30 minutes left to play.

We are a good attacking side who are confident when in possession of the ball so I don't understand playing deep against sides we can beat.

I expect it to be the same against Liverpool when you just wonder if Jose showed enough bravery and confidence in his attacking players if we could go to places like Anfield and Old Trafford and no it play the home side for 90 minutes like we are against pretty much everyone else.

but today we are playing with Drogba...he really cant run that much in the late game

and I also think not losing is the key in league, compare with Cup games is either win or lose, not letting your title rival win/getting momentum is also important

Good fixture list. Once we get past liverpool we'd only have the Emirates to go to in terms of the top team fixtures.

i am not afraid of Arsenal at all to be honest...

If Drogba can't run a round for 90 minutes then don't play him for 90 minutes.

When Mikel was introduced for Oscar I personally thought we should have put Schurrle on for Drogba because his pace and intelligent movement wouldn't have allowed United to press up to the half way line so much.

Having a big lad like DD up top on his own just incourages the side to hit it high and long into his chest but he doesn't have the legs to do much with the ball anymore, you bring Schurrle on and you're incouraging the team to play it smart and keep the ball because that physical outlet isn't there but you do have something to aim at in terms of hitting it into space and stretching the United back line.

i think DD is on the pitch just for the late game when united putting long ball up front and use his size to defend

shurrle in front really not working...no one hold the ball down and no one can follow up from midfield

I truly believe Ivan position needs some adjustment from Jose, he always out of position, always have stupid fouls is quite annoying to be honest

We are often happy to get a point away at the big sides. And quite often it proves a good tactic. Draw away and beat them at home and you are half way to winning the league.

And also, we could quite easily of beaten united and city away. Good start and we must kick on now

Think we have more chance dropping points at Villa and Newcastle than we do arsenal or even spurs.

true....i dont really think Arsenal can do any damage to us

Too much negativity. If we keep a healthy lead over City by end of January, just look at the fixtures till we play away to Emirates. Should be sealing the major chunk of title in that run-in.

Back to topic, we'll do fine in November. Liverpool don't look any special to me. Can win 90% of games with everyone fit.

hope so, if costa and remy get fit again, i dont see any big problem in November

but Costa injurt history just fears me a bit...especially last year

Let us see if we are still top of the league after the Sunderland game then.

if we keep the 6 pt lead to City and others, I am pretty confident for the title

Drogba scored, the header, the height!

Costa having 3 or 4 weeks off will be good for his hammys. Won't need him against Shrews and QPR.

City have played Liverpool, Arsenal (away) and us so far. Whereas we have played Everton, United and them (away) and Arsenal at home. We have had a more difficult start than they have, they'll be going all out for the CL in my opinion.

Nor should we need him in the next cl game either.

However with remy out can the drog play the majority of those 3 games?

I was thinking Remy would be back next Saturday. If he's not then that's real sh*tty luck for him to miss games that Costa is out for
