Best ever away performance.

Featured Replies

The game at Swansea was the best ever away performance I have seen in the 47 years of my life.

I know we have had greater away wins for trophies and such, but just on performance level alone, I think this was our best.

What you think, are there any other away performances at such a high level of quality ?

Liverpool away last season is up there. Resting half the players with a second-choice keeper and a young lad making his debut in defence against the league's best attacking team. On paper we should have been smashed.

City away was also one of our best performances last season. The scoreline says 1-0 only but it should have been atleast 3-0 atleast 4 times we hit crossbar.

We played them when every other team was getting demolished by them 5-0 or 6-0 at Etihad and they were on 10 win streak.

Oh sure great game, but we had to defend like spartans at times, which I like, dont get me wrong, I love the defending part of football, but the sweetness we showed Saturday in attack, I have not seen before.

I can't comment on games that far back as many on here can, but City away last season was one of the best I can remember. Everyone thought we would park the bus and still be demolished but we totally dominated the game.

I don't think Liverpool away last season is in contention because we still gave them plenty of good chances, which if they'd scored, the game would have been completely different. Same goes for Barcelona.

Saturday's game was great but it's always hard to choose a game against weaker opposition as "best ever".

5-0 demolition away to Galatasary in the Champions League comes to mind.

All that "welcome to hell" talk in the build up and then we went there and absolutely spanked them.

The exact game I was going to say, you beat me to it. Or Real Betis away when Flo smashed them.

The one that springs to mind for me was up at Binfield, we hadn't had any jor there for years, then Vinny Jones steps forward and scores a screamer of a volley from outside the area as we won 2-1. Every single player was bang up for it that day, we played some really good football and bossed the game. They were scared stiff or us. Technically, pass and move wise we weren"t a patch on the current team but that made it even better.

But we didn't play better attacking football as we did Saturday, I'm looking for games where we have totally dominated and played clinical attacking football.

Man city last season was awesome, we were like a machine all game. Also as pointed out by many Swansea just weren't up for it. This is in huge contrast to Man city who really were up for it making our dominant win even sweeter.

Last seasons Man City masterclass for me.

Top quality team on a good run and I was expecting a backs to the wall performance. Instead we took it to them and totally bossed them.

Man City 84 Friday night game. Thousands of Chelsea there

We had some cracking away games that year, away to Cardiff 3-0 down with 10 mins left and we get a draw. Away to Sheff Wed in milk cup 3-0 down HT and end up drawing again 4-4.

I was at Cardiff still by far the coldest place i've watched football in Britian.

I know it was technically a 'neutral' venue but winning the CL in bayerns back yard was pretty special. Very gritty performance by a depleted Chelsea side. Ryan Bertrand - champions league winner ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘

Blackburn away in 2003/4 I think. A sh*t nite in the north west, raining and cold. We got a win which was sooooo well fought out. Remember Jose under arm fist pumping with his tounge out. Jt etc clapping the fans bare chested, a great win which was massive in the championship.

Dippers away last season. Been mentioned before but the "2nd team" we put out with kalas putting suarez in his place.

Does spuds 5-1 at wembley count as an away day????? If so the lamps 35 yard free kick is my favourite!!!!

I think it has to be Barca 2012, taking into account the calibre of the opposition, the circumstances (0-2 down, down to ten men). To come back to 2-2 and qualify for the final from that position was just incredible.
