Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina.

The 26-year-old has joined on a four-and-a-half-year contract.

Upon signing, he said: ‘I am very happy and thankful for this opportunity I’ve been given.  This is a great club and honestly it is like a dream to join the Chelsea family and to know that the manager believes in me. I’m happy.’

The attacking midfielder arrives at Stamford Bridge after five-and-a-half years in Italy, first with Udinese before switching to Fiorentina in 2012 after a loan spell at Lecce.

Cuadrado plays predominantly behind a striker, but he is also comfortable on either flank. Pacy and agile, he is a purposeful attacking threat with an eye for the spectacular.

The Colombian, who has 37 international caps and five goals, was a key figure in his country’s impressive 2014 World Cup campaign. He scored in a group-stage victory against Japan before ending the tournament at the quarter-final stage with four assists, a record equalled only by World Cup winner Toni Kroos.

 

Swiftly completed as ever by Chelsea, look forward to seeing the lad play as I know little to nothing about him.

No word on his squad number which is unusual?

Any news on Salah going the other way on loan?

What about the fact that we have replaced him with a better player?

 

Cuadrado is a great player and Schurrle is great in a different way. Very few players have his ability to get a goal and hopefully we don't miss that.

 

What we have here is an upgrade on Willian...a much-needed one. Great bit of business if he lives up to potential.

We have Costa, Hazard, Oscar, Fabregas and now Cuadrado who are all capable of getting a goal. Schurrle is not a significantly better goalscorer than any of these five. What we get in addition with Cuadrado is what we've been lacking and that is width and sheer pace.

Hope we dont end up losing 2 and gaining 1...our bench saturday says we cant afford to do that

I honestly don't think it's gonna make a difference really, had we kely Schurrle and Salah only one was getting on at a time anyway. As soon as our injured players our back our bench will look fine. I'd also like to see some youngsters get a go, they need the experience.

We looked tired v city...and there was nothing on the bench that changed that...we have the best 13/14 players...just worry wen we get injuries and suspensions
