Apparently done now. Now wait till we get knocked out by arsenal in the FA Cup/CL next season. Not to mention those cnuts rubbing the clean sheet record in out faces.

Pathetic from Cech, I hope loses form and sits at bench behind schezney.

If Arsenal do knock us out of the FA Cup or CL any time soon, it will not because they have P Cech in there team.

Don't think we owe cech anything and he doesnt owe the club anything after years of being number one with no real challenge besides Carlo I was hoping he might stick around for another year considering he's had it fairly handy regarding being first choice. The reality for me is he's a top keeper that is wasted on the bench so I can understand why he wants to leave just a horrible shame that its to the team from Woolwich. He will really strengthen them.

Can't say I understand the logic in this. It'd be like if we sold De Gea to Liverpool for £15M.

We all know he's off which is really unfortunate for us, but at least he's going abroad and not to one our of PL rivals.

It's either genius or major hubris on the part of the club.

Hi there

Well it seems to be totally different situation. We have Tebo which is #1 so it's understandable that player like Cech doesn't want to sit on the bench. And if you had someone as good as DeGea to replace him in Manchester United you would probably sell him to one of the PL teams if that was his wish.

See, Cech wants to stay in London because of his family. He turned down PSG who offered him much more money than Arsenal but obviously his family is him priority which I can totally understand.

It seems to be done deal unless someone checked to Lauren's Twitter account and posted this:

"Lauren Etame Mayer ?@Lauren12arsenal

#All the best to Cech. Long time without stability in that position and another great gooner move to get the Premier League.

9:56 AM - 20 Jun 2015"

Club legends don't transfer to bitter rivals.

The loyalty should work both ways. We get unhappy when Lamps joins City but we're OK with not offering him a new contract because he's too old. We want Cech to be loyal, but we want him to be either a benchwarmer for the rest of his career or uproot his family and leave the country.

damn, his GK coach is going too? He'll probably stay on well after Cech leaves.

Hope the other coaches would be able to step up

Cech's coach has moved around with him since his rennes days.

Courtois has already recomended Chelsea hire his old coach from Genk. Seems that keepers like to keep their coaches with them.

This^^^

He's a club legend.

He's transferring to Arsenal.

If he can help us knock barcelona out then what is to stop him from doing that.

Worrying thing is that the diff b/w Chelsea and arsenal is even smaller.

Footballers buy into the ethos of the game, the competition and rivalries, this in turn makes them very rich for comparatively little work. Part of the game involves transferring their talents from time to time, they accept this as does their families. We are consistantly told they have a short career, the conditions are par for the course. A player heading for legendary status will realise that moving to a bitter rival will upset the fans who are giving him this accolade and decline the invitation, this sets him above a great player who has played for the club. So for myself club great yes, legend NO.

From Cech's point of view totally understandable. From our point of view probably the worst scenario?

So far our recent transfer highlights, as follows:

We have purchased, not one but two very questionable Columbians; we have almost certainly lost our 'world class' goalkeeper to one of our closest & most bitter rivals;

and we may soon lose Remy too ... who surely must be better than Falcao ... hmmm.

He's a great player.

Arsenal are a rival.

Don't sell great players to rivals.

We had a gentleman's agreement. He stuck to his end. We'll stick to ours. Most people get that, some don't.

That isn't good fault and its not the club's. Our success lies in our own hands.

How do you know that their was any such agreement.

If arsenal were not looking for a keeper then he would have to move to another city surely. Why not do that now. Or he can go to spurs instead. Lloris is looking to leave this season anyway.

Cech wants to go to arsenal as he knows he can win someting there, the club should be absolutly cold and ruthless about it.

This all day long.

Do what's beat for the club as it will be here long after Cech hangs up his gifted gloves.

It's not like he wouldn't have another host of options from all over Europe.

It's been widely reported and his agent confirmed it.

Fact is the offer is there for him to stay in this city at a comparable level. He even turned down more money to stay in London. People f**king moan about players being mercenaries but here we have a guy who spent a year on our bench then goes somewhere for sporting reasons...

Jesus wept.

Really struggling to bite my tongue.

People saying he should just go abroad.... Honestly find it hard to believe these are actual adults who have experience of the real world. It's laughable.

You don't sell great players to rivals. Particularly when doing so is of no benefit to us. Most understand that, clearly some don't.

I really do not understand this attitude of the club may suffer but Cech shall not.

Mourinho does not want Cech at arsenal. What if things went bad and Mourinho again fell out with the club? That is a risk club must not take, especially for intangible stuff like legend status or relocation trouble for one of its resources.

A gentleman's agreement that he could leave where he wanted.

We've sold great players to rivals before. We let lamps go and he ended up at City. We had 'fans' call him Judas then and I'm sure Cech will get some criticism too. On the internet.

At the ground, not so much. And for me, that's all that matters.

One of its resources.... Enough said.

But who cares if we disagree. We're just customers right.

Pretty much yeah. You are naive if you think otherwise in this day and age.

Lampard was clearly not cut out for this level anymore. Him playing a big role for city was an indication of how sh*t city were rather than lampard being any good.

Mata's sale funded Matic's purchase. It did not strengthen united much but strengthened us significantly.

Both totally different scenarios, This one however is more like leeds selling cantona or at least arsenal selling van persie.

That's such a depressing thing for you to think.

Chelsea is something I've been brought up with, my family, seeing the same people for decades, going with the same friends over land and sea.

What a depressing way for you to view football. It's like you're missing the heart and soul of what it is to be a supporter.

Cech is more than an asset, more than a few more points for Arsenal. He's someone we've cheered on for years, built a relationship with.

Some get that,some don't.

I find it hard to believe we agreed that we'd let him scoot off to a direct rival when he fancied it.

We didn't sell Lampard. His contract expired, we didn't offer him a new one and he found a new club. There is a difference. Besides which, Frank was much closer to the end of his career than Cech is.

I don't know why you keep bringing up this strawman of the fans turning on Cech. I'll always hold him in high regard. This is about the club's own self-interest and it is absolutely not in our interest to sell Cech to Arsenal. As I said, some understand that, some don't.

Yeah fair point. As mentioned in another thread, I started going to matches only two years back. We are different kind of supporters, I guess.

I am sure even If I'd grown up going to the games, I'd still be a cynical asshole in this particular matter and not let him go arsenal.

I ask again, how do you justify Cech not having to suffer (even a little) but Chelsea (potentially) suffering massively for it?

Think the club doesn't wanna be seen as holding players 'hostage' when they want to leave, and want to appear like a good place for players to go because the club has demonstrated they will do what's best for the player including not keeping them against their will when they want to leave. Ever since the Malouda debacle we have just let players go when they wanted like Mata, De Bruyne, Schurlle
