Petr Cech to Arsenal

Featured Replies

Take a £10m hit and make them wait another year, then he will get a better pay deal with them as he will be a free agent, and we get the best back up keeper you could wish for another season.

Want Cech now ? throw us the Ox then !!

In another year Arsenal may be owned by a Nigerian even richer than Roman?

I keep changing my mind about this transfer.

At the moment I'm going with, I don't give a sh*t if he wants to go there and the club shouldn't either. Selling a player that strengthens a big rival is moronic.

I love Petr like we all do, but sentiment can't come first. It's also weak as piss from José that he'd let the club help Wenger like this.

The Yanks don't sell there clubs that often.

"Petr Cech, 33, has reached an agreement to join Arsenal from Chelsea, having been assured he will be the club's first-choice goalkeeper"

From this mornings paper talk. Ospina heading to Fenerbahce for 4m.

So that's that then.

This isn't jose's decision. It's roman's

Does amaze me how fickle some fans are nowadays.

We sell Luiz for a kings ransom, sell Lukaku and Mata for overinflated prices, buy key players at fair prices, increase commercial revenue massively, ink a HUGE sponsorship deal more than double the previous one,WIN THE LEAGUE...

Yet we're mugs. Ok...

If there was a gentleman's agreement in place last summer that said Cech could leave wherever he wanted if he happily sat on the bench as we replaced him with a 22 year old then we should stick to that.

There's two sides in this argument in my opinion. Those who recognise that and respect a long time servant's wish to remain in this city with his family and those who see players as nothing but commodities, or points.

Sorry of people think that's harsh but that's my opinion.

One can still do this and be upset at the whole situation.

Absolutely agree mate. I'd love for him to go abroad but he's a man with a young family. There's realities that anyone over the age of 24 will probably recognise and understand and the vast majority of supporters I know understand this move even if they're not happy with it.

I don't give a f**k what anyone says selling him to a rival is a joke and shouldn't happen.

Exactly.

Arsenal have struggled badly over recent years to get a decent keeper and we go and hand them the EPL's best ever keeper for a pittance.

It's stupid.

Folk can dress it up however much they like to make themselves feel better but at the end of the day this is a poor move from the club and it only strengthens one team....Arsenal.

Blue Daze apologizing if people think his opinion is harsh.

Now I've seen it all.  :laugh2:

You catch more bees with honey apparently haha.

Of course you catch even more with pesticides and electric fly seats.

It's a shame really. I'd love to wish him all the best. But i honestly hope he is absolutely sh*t for them.

It should never be like that with legends.

Yup.

I hope he fails big time if he does move there which is a strange feeling. Should never have happened but the club obviously have went over Joses head with this one which sucks because he knows Arsenal will be the big winners with this one.

At the risk of seeming or being over dramatic I can still remember the first time I saw Frank in City baby blue. Cech at Arsenal is just too close to home and Arsenal will be too close for comfort with Cech in goal. The season hasn't even started and a cloud is gathering.

To be positive, Thibault and a team that will go from strength to strength under Jose who has more of everything than Wenger.

My Arsenl mate just text more saying have you seen a Cech? Has it gone through? Surely we'd make them wait? At least don't make it easy for them.

We're looking like mugs

Gives us time to sort out a replacement I suppose, if it's inevitable that Cech will leave then just get it over it... Cut out the foreplay so to speak.  If he goes for the rumoured £14m fee and possible Remy goes for £15m then that's £29m we've earned on two fringe players.

Through in the £4m loan fee for Falcao and we could be looking at an additional £25m spending money on whatever budget we had for this summer.

Considering the much improved TV deal money and the Yokohomo shirt sponsor money.

I don't think it's a stretch to suggest there could be £100m to spend on the squad this summer and so I remain optimistic, as gutting as it is to lose Cech we're not weakening ourselves if he goes and if that money goes towards signing a Griezmann, Varane, Witsell or whoever... Someone that clearly improves the squad/team then we can't have too many grumbles.
