Sorry but that's BS we could potential never play PSG again whereas Arsenal we are guaranteed to play at least twice a year. Not to forget aswell that a good goalkeeper is something Arsensl have needed for a long time, it's only going to improve them and could be detrimental to us in three domestic competitions.

As good as that is to read, it is totally wrong.

 

Every season I think Arsenal could be our main rivals and every season it is entertaining when they f**k it up. But I do just get the feeling that with a couple of decent additions to the current squad they WILL be our main challengers and are therefore far from an irrelevance. Anyone who thinks they wont be a threat because of what has happened in past seasons is playing a very risky game. They now have one of the strongest squads and IF they can avoid major injuries they will again be top 3, no problem.

Because he's Petr Cech. He is special. 

 

You remember those stories about him being disgruntled about being replaced by Thibaut and kicking up a fuss? No,  me neither. He acted with class and like a gentleman and we're going to do the same in return. 

 

People want to talk about him in cold numbers, like he'll give Arsenal an extra 10 points. Well man the f**k up. If your opponent gets stronger, you get stronger. If they push you, you push back. If we don't win the league it's because WE weren't good enough. 

 

If we must talk numbers, Cech has one year left on his contract. We can sell him now for £10 million, get his £5 million wages off the books and get a replacement in who will invariably be cheaper. Or we keep him and he goes to Arsenal in a year's time. They will most likely still be a strong team and they still get a 34 year old Cech. 

 

The most important things for us in my opinion are to get the best deal possible from them (if he goes there) and to focus on OUR team, making it the best it can be.

If it was me, I would only sell him to a rival in a swap deal which is what Jose is suggesting.

End of the day if Mourinho wants a player in part exchange as part of the deal then that's exactly what we should hold out for. 

 

I love Big Pete but we shouldn't just hand over one of the world's best goalkeepers on a silver platter to a title rival. 

 

I won't begrudge Cech moving to Arsenal but I would like to see us be the main beneficiaries in any deal because selling Cech to Arsenal for £11m is a massive win for them and we don't gain anything, £11m is pocket change when you consider the new TV deal and shirt sponsor money we're getting. 

 

They want Cech more than we want any money, so they've got to sweeten the deal for us, give us a reason to sell... If they don't then Big Pete needs to just suck it up and either see out the last year of his contract or move to a club we are comfortable to sell to. 

You can tell how much the media are pushing for Cech to Arsenal it's everywhere everytime a player mentions it. Seems to me they want one of their golden boys back at the top.

arsenal are 3 players away from a real title challenge, a CF, a CM and a GK. They will likely get martinez and schniderlin, surely Granovskia and Emenalo can not be stupid enough to hand them over the last piece of the puzzle. If Cech really wants to go to arsenal then we should get someone to weaken them slightly, chamberalin or walcott as Jose suggests will be perfect.

 

Although that said, I still thing any full strength Jose squad will still beat any full strength wenger squad over 38 games. So not really worried for the league but those cnuts can still hurt us in the cups with Cech in their goal.

I agree with this, Chec could go on to play for them for 6 more years at the top top level. I understand the element concerning his loyalty to us and he deserves the chance to stay in London at a team that will regularly compete for 4^th spot. But this is also a business.

The fact is that 11 million for a keeper of his quality is cheap. We are talking top 5 keepers in the world and the best in many people’s opinions. We will come up against him next year and he may well have an impact on our season. From a business point of view it’s important to be savy. We could use someone like Chamberlin. We don’t have to sell Chec,  Arsenal want to take advantage of us being a bit too nice. I say don’t even open the conversation with out Ox on the table

Brilliant news if so. We could do with someone like the Ox. Problem is, I just can't see them swapping Cech for the Ox. Although Cech is high quality, they are at opposite ends of their careers. If it was the other way round, I wouldn't swap.

But every confidence that the club can pull it off. We have been brilliant the last few years with our transfer handling.

Yeah I can see that happening sadly.

We should hold our ground and tell them out right if they don't part with one of their players then negotiations won't go any further.

I think the club is just saving Jose's pride.
The club have said he can go anywhere and Jose said he doesn't want him to go to Arse..
So this little piece of 'Dick waving' by the two clubs lets Petr go to Arse (as the club seem to be Ok with) and makes Jose look like he made them work for it.
