August 12, 201510 yr You will get shot down in flames for that sort of comment on here! Everyone is happy with us nicking 1-0s, having only 30% possesion it seems. Please, we did not go through an entire season scraping 1-0 wins and playing boring football, for the majority of the season we played the best football and scored a lot of goals. If we went through an entire season playing on the counter attack and scraping wins, then I could see why this would annoy people, but we only played like that at the business end of the season. Now we are one game in to the new season, you think we're going to surrender possession and play on the counter all season long? I think most people understand that we grinded out results when we needed to, it's not a permanent style, that's why people disagree with you.

For half the season our football was heading in the right direction. Why did we abandon that Philosophy when it was working so well, because we lost one game to Spurs? I am not happy with that.

I am not happy with that. Because we were so far ahead we could sit back and not kill ourselves, or leave ourselves open to upsets. We beat united 1 nil, a week after spanking City 4 - 2. Would you rather we tried city's approach in that game ?
August 12, 201510 yr Sorry beat City 4-2? I must have missed that one. Because we were so far ahead we could sit back and not kill ourselves, or leave ourselves open to upsets. We beat united 1 nil, a week after spanking City 4 - 2. Would you rather we tried city's approach in that game ?
August 12, 201510 yr I'm so tired of the comments from some on here demanding more to see more attacking football. I've bit my tongue long enough but if you don't like it then why don't you go start watching someone else. All it seems the aforementioned people do is grizzle and whine. Winning in style is a big ask, get behind the team instead of complaining and backbiting against other Chelsea fans on this forum who do not agree with your opinion. There it is again, Attacking football! I'm breaking down our structure and philosophy and sharing an opinion. I know this is hard for simple minds to process, and for some its a case of if we win we've played well, if we don't win we haven't. And slightly hypocritical, when you are doing the exact same thing - complaining and backbiting against other fans who do not share YOUR views. It goes without question that we all are behind the team. This is a Forum and a place for all opinions to be aired. Not just the ones that come through blue tinted glasses. August 12, 201510 yr You are not doing yourself any favours, few bits of advice, don't tell people what to post and don't insult people. 1. You called me Douche earlier. Take Heed of your own advice. 2. I dont need to do anyone, including myself any favours. My opinions are as valid as anybodies. Last reply YOU will get from me.

You are more than likely not going to win friends by attempting to force people to change their opinions. You may have valid points but they should be a take it or leave it, not mandatory. I think football is a pretty subjective topic, there is no right and wrong a lot of the time. It's not really hypocritical when you have already been on your soap box complaining for days about the same thing. Fair enough, we get your point. We can choose to agree or disagree. Try and be classy when people refuse to agree, it will make you seem a lot more pleasant to converse with. Also, I am a hypocrite and back biter yet I was the person backing in another thread 'center back' when another poster was trying to get smart. I don't think that really fits with your view that I don't accept your views on anything. All I can say is I'm glad we don't have to watch a Chelsea game together, you would do my bloody head in.

Your options are as valid as anyone else's but you need to respect others opinions and not insult them.
August 12, 201510 yr Sorry beat City 4-2? I must have missed that one. United had beaten city 4 - 2 the week before we played them

I can understand fans being happy with grinding out results, as it ultimately means we are winning. Where I get frustrated is that members don't seem to be understanding my views...as if I am asking us to transform into Arsenal or Barcelona. Or my whole point is based around us playing 'pretty football'. I;m raising some tactical points, that I was hoping some football minds might be able to respond with. But the general response has been very defensive, and not took into account the crux of what I am saying.

I haven't insulted anyone, what I am saying takes more consideration than Win or Lose. So simple minds will ignore my points, then reply with 'oh but we won the league'.

August 12, 201510 yr People with simple minds wont understand what I am trying to say. Yes. Thats not an insult because it isnt aimed at anyone in particular. There are simple (in terms of football awareness) fans out there.

I guess the free flowing nature of us last season stopped for a number of factors such as:- 1. Injuries 2. Tiredness 3. Suspensions 4. Lack of depth in squad 5. José's tendency to be pragmatic It seems when it comes to Chelsea we can't sustain free flowing goals, goals, goals football. Sometimes the team DNA is just one way and it's really hard to break that. I would argue we have been this way since Jose 1.0 a decade ago. I'm not sure we will ever be as free flowing as the first part of last season consistently. Whether we have the tools to play that way or not Josè only cares about winning. Winning in the way he knows best, pragmatic counter attacking football.

Winning in the way he knows best, pragmatic counter attacking football. Agree with all 5 reasons as to why it stopped. Winning is the main thing, for sure. I just believe with our players (most anyway!), we can formulate a winning system whereby we play with good intent and a solid forward thinking structure. And it can be even more successful than right now where we are grinding results. To do so would need constant work, and bedding in. Which needs to be gradual. Not sure if you watched MNF with Roberto martinez but Jamie Carragher was asking him about when his team gets left open, after pushing FBs high up the pitch. He said, we will concede the odd goal, but every team does. Its a matter of playing to our principles, and trusting that we are good enough, and believing in the system they are playing. I have to agree with him. Of course, against stronger teams, we will have to defend well at times. And deeper. But if in the main we work on the principle to play, push forward and press well (win the ball back high) then I think in time this will be beneficial for the club, both in terms of results and style. Because in time Chelsea will be known for that philosophy. I wont harp on anymore about this. Everyone has got the jist. One thing I would add is that JT is much more suited to playing with the game in front of him, and with him in the XI we will be more solid with that tactic.
