I think he's an appalling bully for a start. 

 

he's a massive hypocrite. was happy to attack people he fell out with for wanting money or having big egos but the whole 'coolmore mafia' affair showed us that he was certainlynot  a man apart from that. also immediately going to the glazers after rooney got a new contract to ensure he remained the highest earner at the club sort of suggests something- and it was not, as he tried to frame it, symbolic gesture IMO.

 

I mean there are actually so many reasons I can't believe you would need to ask. he's been gone what? 3 years? now we're getting misty eyed?

 

I think above all lets not forget he has been the biggest apologist for the glazer family ever. he used his significant clout to legitimise the model where someone who cant afford to buy a club can buy it and place the debt onto that club. before glazer people who bought football clubs were more often than not custodians and / or idiots but ferguson helped welcome in the age of profiteers. above all the partisan fun and games that is part and parcel of being a football supporter I do feel a basic kinship / empathy with the supporters of all clubs simply through the fact that this is a shared passion. so though I don't support manchester united I really disliked ferguson's obsequiousness towards the glazers. he was happy to go beyond the call of duty to tell everyone how great they were. no mention of ticket price increases. no mention of a policy whereby season ticket holders who have been going for years were forced to buy cup games automatically. not a word of criticism for the glazers before they bought the club and in fact nothing but praise for them after they bought it (and by 'they' I mean the united fans and sky sports subscribers by proxy). ferguson got all the wage increases he so desired and even threw in criticism of the long term united supporters who dared to be critical of the new ownership. I believe he once told them to "f*ck off and support chelsea".  what do you think that suggests about this man of the people? what do you think this suggests he thinks of us, the chelsea support?

The EPL massively missed Fergie IMO. People who say they're glad he's gone only say so because of how dominant his sides were. It tells the story of how good he was, one things for sure when he was here and I was worried Arsenal or Liverpool might win a PL his team used to win the league and on those occasions I was greatful.

The PL without him has become massively boring and it may be more competitive but the standard of football is atrocious right now. Anyway back to my point I also miss Fergie as a rival, when we beat United with him there it was amazing beating them now doesn't feel the same.

I see where Davey is coming from but for me the mediocrity of this years Premier League is also due to your boys messing around, Ever since Chelsea dropped away we've taken our foot off the gas and allowed the likes of Leicester and Arsenal to get into the title race, We started the season like a house on fire because we were expecting you lot to keep us on our toes, These pretenders such as Leicester and Arsenal just don't motivate me or keep me up at night worrying about beating us to the title, Which leads me onto my point about Fergie, He always kept us on our toes in the 2/3 serious title races we had between each other hence we were infinitely more consistent.

Kinkladze, I would be careful in dismissing Arsenal as "Pretenders"! Don't get me wrong, I love the notion and hope you are right and all the time they can go to places like Southampton and get stuffed 4-0, maybe you are. But I get the horrible feeling this may just be their and Wenger's year. Your boys look far from convincing and the gooners still appear the most consistent of a bad bunch.

 

I'm also interested to hear a City fans view. I guess you all want Guadiola? Are there any who would still rather keep Pelegrini or would perhaps rather have Mourinho?

There's been discussion about the PL being mediocre. It's not quite that bad but it isn't great. We (Brits) seem to value excitement more than finesse. That's a generalisation but there seems to be a tension between the pace of our domestic football and the quality (but lack of excitement imo) of some continental football.

Back to SAF, most periods of dominance by one team are bad news for other teams. The shape of the PL this season is brilliant when compared to what felt like the almost complete predictability of the SAF years.

Leicester are 5 points ahead of us so we will have to rely on them losing or drawing a few games. I thought Leicester would falter over Christmas but it didn't happen.

Being honest, Leicester winning the PL would be such a great thing that I'd not begrudge them it. It's a weird season. You look at the table and quite a few teams are in what seems like the wrong part of the league.

I agree. One thing that we share with Leicester is a lack of pressure. City and Arsenal are expected to do well and the weight of expectation is a lot to bear.

Man Utd took a couple of decades to win the League after Sir Matt retired.

Liverpool have not won a title since 1989/90 and Dalglish left them the following season.

Mind you Spurs last won the title on 1960/61 under Bill Nicholson.

Fergie finished 3rd in 04/05 when you folks won the title, and said that it was a 'season to forget'. Last three seasons, we've finished 7th, 4th and 5th - Spurs level. We're suffering from an identity crisis - spending crazy money on Gaal-acticos, then playing youth when injuries and poor form crippled the new signings,  pointless possession based tactics after decades of attacking football, losing the 'nothing bigger than the club' philosophy (read Wayne Rooney), becoming a joke in the transfer market (over paying for Fellaini, Mata, Shaw, Di Maria, getting played by Sergio Ramos and all the ridiculous (alleged) Bale/neymar chases), and having no apparent structure in place. Our best players are a wantaway GK and two teenagers playing their first full seasons.

 

Simply put, the club is in a shambles. And the decline has been scarily steep.

This in itself goes to show how much of a one-man club we were, and how SAF's departure (and Gill's) has left the club reeling.

 

I believe there's too much money in place for us to fall away aka Liverpool, but it is hard to see if and when we will ever catch up with the usual suspects, and when we will start winning silverware again.

The FA Cup will be a welcome addition. So will be Jose Mourinho's appointment, hopefully.

Tbf although Liverpool have fallen away since they last won the league it's not been all bad since then won many cups including old big ears.

I did always admire Man utd and enjoyed watching their football but watching you lot now is like watching paint dry and i'm actually surprised how lenient you lot have been with Van Gaal to be honest. Winning trophies is always a bonus but good football is something you always expect from Man utd and from a neutral point of view it was always worth watching.

If and when Jose joins you lot, don't expect him to start playing the "united way" with free flowing football. When he arrives he may talk about your youth famous academy but do not expect him to use it, Jose is all about results and using the same player's week in week out. And all this works wonders, for a season or two atleast.

Man utd have always been well received by the media but I don't know how they will play it when Jose turns up.
