Doping Scandal

Featured Replies

Tomorrow's Sunday Times will break a series of doping allegations that implicate Premier League footballers among others. The story will lead tomorrow's front page, and alleges that 150 sportspeople have been prescribed Performance Enhancing Drugs. It is believed that this list includes players currently playing in the Premier League.

Will be interesting to see who is involved. Hopefully none of our players. And I hope Leicester also have nothing to do with it.  :laugh2:

(Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere)

I've always assumed there must be some doping since it's inevitable in every professional sport.

Sometimes I wonder if some cases of players getting "injured" or dropped actually means they failed the club doping test. Better the club catch you so you can be pulled from the squad rather than playing and then failing the official test after the game.

I don't automatically assume that an athlete knowingly dopes. Some do of course but there are many cases of doctors or coaches giving them pills without truthfully telling them what's in the pills.

Stan Collymore has just confirmed my above post on his twitter account, Another journo has tweeted the players supposedly involved,

Leicester: Mahrez, Kante, Okazaki, Drinkwater,

 Arsenal: Welbeck and Gabriel ,

Chelsea: Traore, Willian, Costa

Spurs: Alli, Toby and Lamela

Arsenal fans all over Twitter hoping it's Leicester, be hilarious if it was ozil.

D I'm shocked at your accusation. Drugs enhance performances, what exactly have you been smoking? Ozil's performances have been enhanced? lololololol. I mean we all know Arsenal fans think he's Zidane and Pirlo and Ronaldo and Maradona and Wilshere and Messi rolled into one bit still.

Ozil... D you're a few days late for April fools!

PS- we all know one certainty, John Terry. May not have even been involved with the testing and never touched anything like that in his life but you know, for the lols they'll implement him. Costa too, probably get a ban, a fine and an addition to the 'Costa crimes' montage.

Seriously, fuxk everyone. Especially Arsenal fans. If Leicester were deducted points and Spuds won it instead of them or Arsenal I wonder if those Arsenal fans will still be crowded around on their computers on a Saturday night hoping players from a different sports team are guilty of taking drugs so their heroes can come and swoop the title.

f**k everyone again. Especially Arsenal. And Tottenham, Liverpool, West Ham, Leeds, Everton but especially those f**ktards from Greenwich.

Oh good Arsenal and Spuds will be deducted points too if that happens judging from that list. I mean we were always going to be involved so not too shocked. We'll see what evidence they've got.

I don't think points would be deducted. I imagine the individuals responsible would probably be fined, banned, and sacked by the clubs for breach of contract. Of course, if they weren't told the whole truth about their prescriptions, would they be able to take legal action against the doctors who prescribed them?

Got a link buddy?

Initially brushed this off when I saw it was Mark Bonar that was the doctor but after seeing the video I think there may be something in it.

Thing is though how deliberate would this be? If a player is say recovering from an injury and the club medical staff gives them something to help speed up their recovery, I think the majority would take it no question, as if any of us were prescribed something from our day to day doctors. Also that account above seems highly speculative such as saying Arsenal had met Zlatan's price.

They're trying to say that's why Leicester are top of the league, rather than the really good football they are playing and the fact that everyone else has been sh*t.

Still think it's silly of the sunday times to make a report about this based on nothing more than Bonar's claim, not exactly the most reliable person.

To be fair, he's the same bloke that tweeted this:

Charlie Austin to Newcastle is a DONE DEAL. Mike Ashley was reluctant to pay that much, but Steve McClaren managed to convince him.

He names Tottenham players, but Sunday times didn't mention Spurs as one of the clubs involved..I saw chelsea, Arsenal, Leicester and Birmingham

This doesn't appear to have taken over Twitter or media outlets this morning. I saw this part in The Sun though:

"Dr Bonar faces a disciplinary hearing for alleged malpractice in the case of a cancer patient later this month."

Perhaps he thinks this sort of story will pay legal costs.

The people who have come up with this report must have concrete evidence to back it up or they have unfairly tarnished players reputations and not to mention left themselves open to be sued big style.

Absolutely agree, this is a serious f**king accusation to make without SOLID evidence - we're talking industrial grade concrete.

As much as I don't want to consider it, this would actually make sense.

We've all wondered out loud how on earth Willian could just keep going and going... Costa is a real shocker though, he's hardly been fully fit all season. If that Leicester list is true then they could get hit with a major points reduction. If the title goes to Arsenal as a result of this it'll be the most undeserved title in the history of the league.

There is zero evidence so far though, this could all be completely fabricated in this doctors mind. I can't believe the times have released all this with no corroborating evidence.

The account naming those players is a fake one apparently and the report in the Times doesn't actually have any evidence beyond the video of this person throwing out names.

Now that doesn't mean there isn't doping going on because there almost certainly is somewhere in the game but right now, there's absolutely no evidence.

What a let down that was.My eggs and coffee got me through it though.

I hope if they have more concrete evidence they are playing it out like the expenses scandal.... for now it's all a bit sensational and lacks and my evidence whatsoever.
