Romelu Lukaku

He was brutal again tonight.

So technically poor for a potential 60 odd million quid striker

It's funny cause people moan at Costa for that but Lukaku has a way worse first touch and hold up play.

Classic lazy and uninterested Lukaku performance! Conte would be pulling his hair out watching him, no chance Lukaku will ever be 1st choice striker under Conte, simply not the type of striker Conte likes.

Don't want the fat lazy oaf anywhere near this club. He's not fit to wear the shirt. Awful attitude on the pitch and constantly thinking he's the dog's bollocks. He's just a sh*t Benteke.

Tbf he's clearly leaps ahead of Benteke but he is definitely lazy and for me his worst attribute is mentality. He plays well when the team plays well but when the team doesn't play well he disappears. The best strikers can do something in that one moment to save a game or win a game and I haven't seen that from Lukaku.

I think people are being harsh. There was nothing lazy about his performance yesterday. I said it in another thread and i will say it here. Look at the distance between Lukaku and every other Everton player, tell me what he is supposed to do when he has nobody backing him up ? Costa has Hazard and Pedro very close to him at all times, where is that kind of support for Lukaku. I was looking at Mirallas, Davies and Barkley yesterday and they were 20-30 yards away from him in almost every attack. You put Costa in that Everton team now and i bet he would struggle to score 10 a season. The service Lukaku get's is shocking. Everton go through phases where they lump it up to Lukaku hoping for miracles. Instead of lumping it up to Lukaku, they should try playing it to his feet and trusting him to run at players and then make overlapping runs to create space for him. Many times over the season i have seen defenders backing off when Lukaku is running at them.

If Lukaku joins us then i think you will see something totally different to what we see at Everton.

This tickled me.

So Costa would struggle to score 10 in a team Lukaku has scored 25 for this season. :laugh2:

So Costa has 20 this season for Chelsea so what does that mean Lukaku would get at least 35 in this Chelsea team?

With the way Costa has been playing in the last few months, yeah, i think he would really struggle to score for Everton. He can barely score for us at the moment and he is playing with some of the best attacking players in the league. The service to Costa has been a lot better than what Lukaku is getting at Everton.

I also don't think the play would break down with Lukaku as often as it has done with Costa of late.

I don't doubt Lukaku would score goals hete, my doubts gone from his mentality. Dies he ever really grab games by the scruff of the neck and win them? I can't say from what I've seen he does.

As I have said before the no service excuse is a myth. Chelsea and Everton have created a similar amount of chances this season, and at Everton you get more space as teams don't sit back and park the bus against them very often.

Watch Everton instead of going on stats and judge for yourself. If you had watched them in the last few months, you would see the type of service Lukaku gets and just how far away his team mates are from him when they go on attack. He get's no help, unlike Costa who more often than not has Hazard and Pedro within a few yards of him. There is no way Costa would be scoring many goals for Everton because he would need to bully his way through defences, and that is something he is terrible at. Everton overall may get more space, but the distance between their midfield and their striker is massive.

I have watched quite a lot of Everton this season and I don't see much wrong with the service Lukaku gets, and you talk about Hazard and Pedro being near Costa and him not being able to bully his way through defences so how do you explain him scoring 36 goals in 52 games for Atletico in 13/14? And how about when he was on loan at Rayo Vallecano and kept them in La Liga scoring 10 goals in 16 games.

And did you watch the Euros when Lukaku had Hazard, De Bruyne, Carrasco, Mertens, Nainggolan all around him and he failed to deliver? teams park the bus against Belgium leaving Lukaku with little space to play in, and he struggles a lot when he hasn't got much space to run in behind.

The myth of Lukaku not being a big game player in comparison to other players has also been busted but people still use that to fuel their anti Lukaku agenda.

the fact is Lukaku is basically playing in a very deep 451 at the moment. Everton lump it up to him and expect him to turn and take on a 4 man defence by himself. Try watching a game instead of going off stats on Squawka and you can clearly see this. No matter what striker you stick in there they're not going to score.

Another myth that Everton sit deep and leave Lukaku up front on his own isolated.

I think you are the one who needs to watch some games. Now watch this video and tell me how many of his goals were put on a plate for him? :laugh2: but Lukaku gets no service right?

Let's hope it's another baseless rumor from the mail.

Houdini couldn't make Lukaku a world beater

More goals than world beaters such as Costa, Aguero, Kane, Ibra etc. though x

Do you read?

Very deep 451 AT THE MOMENT. Everton have changed their game plan for whatever reason in recent weeks and have looked much worse for it.

Phillips, Le Tissier and a few others bagged tons of goals...didn't make them superstars.

It's going round in circles now and I can't be bothered. He will never be a world class striker imo or even a level below that. I hope we stay clear

Conte on Lukaku and Costa.

"Lukaku is a good guy but for us Diego is very important and, in this part of the season, he will be decisive for us,"

"We are talking about two great strikers. But you know that Diego, for me, is the best striker in the world.

"I think it's great to have talent. But I like a lot when you are a warrior during the game and, above all, if players with talent show they work hard during the game."

This is why Lukaku will never be 1st choice striker under Conte, it's also why Conte barely uses Batshuayi, Conte loves Costa's passion and above all his work rate, this is something Lukaku and Batshuayi lack, it's something players like Morata and Belotti have.

If we sign Morata and Lukaku in the summer i know which one will be starting and which one will be on the bench.

There is no argument from me regarding Costa's ability. However, Conte has been constantly trying to get Costa to raise his game since January, with many comments like this.

But he will get you at least 20 goals and that is good enough. Haters will hate but looks like he is going to be PL top scorer at 23/24 years of age. He has his flaws but he scores goals and will still be scoring tons loads for next few seasons.
