Romelu Lukaku

This is comparing Lukaku work rate individually to Kane a player that moves around in a high press team:

"Ask Koeman to identify one aspect of Lukaku’s game that needs to improve, and this would be it. The Everton manager has been a frequent critic of the striker’s pressing – or lack of – since succeeding Martínez and an average distance covered of 8.93km per game is the lowest among his Premier League peers. There has been evidence of Koeman’s advice being heeded in recent weeks, however. 6

Kane Pochettino’s system and style ask a lot of the lone striker but Kane shows every week that he is willing to run himself into the ground. Works to close down defenders and drag them out of position, he can cover 13km in a game. Has averaged 10.7km in the league this season. 8

Now if we look at us as a team we cover on average 113 km per game Everton cover 109km, so as a team we cover more ground, as a style we press from the front against smaller teams, in fact Diego could run a lot more but the quality of his runs makes up for the fact he isn't the quickest at pressing, so we have a team that runs more, a style that requires more lively forwards, to recycle the ball quickly and expose teams before they reset, what's your argument again? That because we have less space to work he can do less ffs give up mate @TheChelseaBlues

Thats all correct.

Again, nothing to do with what we were talking about. Countering vs coming up against 10 men in their own half; which forward is more likely to run more. Neither of us said a word about pressing till you just brought it up. So yea of course if you're pressing you will need to run  more. Im sorry I guess I must have missed something, was I watching the 10 matches Everton decided not to press? Surely if they were pressing and getting after teams before they reset Koeman would have played someone who was going to listen to him. Lol, what an idiot he is eh? Maybe thats why they couldn't crack the top, they were playing a high press all season with 10 men!

You're putting forth a strange argument in that you say Lukaku is lazy but when he gets here that will be fixed. So..... thats what I've been saying as well. The only difference seems to be you think he's naturally a lazy sod, I think he lacks motivation and instruction.

You can get away with being lazy if you bag goals. For someone who knows so much about football you'd think you recognize the forwards main job is to score goals. I'd take a striker who is 48th out of 48 in area covered if he's also 2nd of 48 in goals scored yeah. I wouldn't take a forward who was 2nd out of 48 in area covered and 48th of 48 in goals scored. One of those categories is objectively more important than the other, there is no argument, which is why its strange you brought your bird into it when thats all subjective.

Btw, I'm not your mate

There is one thing not wanting Lukaku here but you make fun out of a player that is most likely going to be leading our line next season. What kind of supporter are you? Absolutely pathetic. Surprised the mods are not tired of you already like they were on Talk Chelsea. Just seen your age. You apparently are 26. The way you post, I would swear you are a 10 year old. Even that is offensive to a 10 year old because you go on more immature than one. If you are 26 as stated and turning 27 in September, grow the f**k up FFS.

Lukaku plays for Everton and Belgium.

Yeah god of course he will be back, every time Romelu has a bad run he will be back here to show us what a bad decision we made even if he scores 30+ goals, its what trolls do

It will be fun to come back and quote this guy, when Lukaku start scoring for us like mad.

But i`m sure this guy will be hidden in his hole and won`t shows up, unless there is some bad performance from the team and Lukaku. Then he will come and say i told you ....

Conte and the board is not a bunch of idiots, who knows nothing of football. They surely know all of Lukaku stats, strenghts and weakness. As well how to use him and what style will suit him.

I`m pretty sure a lot of people was questioning Conte decision to get Alonso and bring back Moses. But all of a sudden they perform great and we have fantastic season.

Conte knows what the team needed. He see the problem and wasn`t care about status and how much money we pay for a player. He sold Ivanovic, who was fading and sold Oscar, who was performing like s***.

Mourinho did not see this problem and was keeping them and was putting them into the starting 11 and we see what happen.

Conte knows best and if he want Lukaku, then he is the man for CHELSEA !!!

Didn't Conte favoured Morata 1st and Emenalo that favoured Lukaku? It was after some time that target switched to Lukaku?

I really hope if we do sign him, he turns out great and takes the mantle from Diego

I know your not my mate you sound like a bit of an arse to be fair what a petty thing to say, but yes it's a colloquial term. You're  one of those guys who will keep going in circles until people get bored of you and claim it as a hollow victory, when breaking down a team your forwards run more than sitting back and countering, a counter happenes 5-10 times a game, constant pressure on a team sitting back can be for 3/4 of the game, plus recycling the ball is a type of counter attack, a high press teams forwards run more than a team that concedes possession, it's not fuxking hard and I gave you the stats, you're wrong and you probably know that yourself, if you want to cling on to some old bollox good and keep trying to change the goal posts for you "mate" but this isn't enjoyable for me and I'm here for my enjoyment, lovely to speak to you, cheerio.

In my 47 years of SUPPORTING Chelsea and the players, (and muck fe have we bought some rubbish in my time), I have never come across such negativity towards my club or a player, from a supposed fan. It beggars belief. Muck Fe what would he have been like if he was around during the 70's and 80's dark times with some of the purchases we made back then.

I personally have never acted in this manner, and although as stated previously, I am not a fan of Lukaku, however I will get behind him if we buy him, because that's what real supporters do, they support the club and players, through thick and thin.

That's the way I see it too, assuming we do buy him I trust Conte to find a winning formula and if it does not work out support the team until they can turn it around.

Yea good talking to you I guess? We dont call people we dont know mate where im from. We're not as passive agressive either. Would you post the same stats for the other seasons Lukaku has played at Everton as well? I can't find them. I'd be interested to see if he's consistently dead last.

Im glad you acknowledge you keep changing the goal posts. Takes a lot to admit that.

It's odd reading some of the comments about Lukaku from some fans. When he was out on loan for us, everybody was saying we should bring him back and give him a chance, now that he is an even better player than he was back then, a lot of people are saying they don't want him.

Odd comparison.

First off all most people wanted him to get a chance as part of the squad not undisputed #1, secondly he wouldn't have cost an obscene amount to recall.

Well no you don't call anyone mate where you're from, because apparently you're from kansas which may be a contributing reason that you know f**k all about football. Nothing against American fans, we have plenty of Americans on here that get on great with everyone, however when you bring the Daddy big balls know it all attitude while knowing f**k all, and you're entering another culture (assuming you're not a British ex-pat) you're not going to come off smelling like Roses, I don't know your background, but I can tell you we grow up eating and sleeping football, we hear it being spoken about from a toddler up, in the house, in school, with our mates, with our family, on the telly, in the papers,  we play it at school, after school, on the weekends,  it's ingrained in us, so when you say something stupid of course it's going to stick out, I wouldn't go on to an American egg ball forum and try and be a smart arse when the things I'm saying are fundamentally incorrect like the striker on a team sitting back runs more than one on a high press team,  then just be tarty when someone isn't having my know it all/know f**k all approach. Now if you wouldn't mind f**king off I already said my goodbyes.

To be fair I think he is emphasising the guys point who said she has never seen such hostility towards one of our players, he isn't, I don't like lukaku, but if he plays for us I'll get behind him, I f**king hated fab as did most chelsea fans, that flipped completely when he joined our club, it's fine to not like a player, we are lookig at.  I think my man Paq doesn't enamour himself too well and he has said some silly things to me as well,  but the more people jump on the bandwagon against him the worse he will have to get to try and save face, he doesn't like lukaku, it's ok, lukaku as he said is as of now an everton player, as soon as he isn't and plays for us as a fan he will be expected to give him a fair chance to prove himself.

Back to the petty insults about me not knowing anything about football. Life is going to be pretty tough on you if you react like this to someone disagreeing with you snowflake. Still waiting on those stats from previous seasons, take your time the weather is lovely here in MISSOURI and Im a patient guy.

He is utterly pathetic. I mean I know you are not his biggest fan but you give constructive reasons. Paq will show a clip of Lukaku having a bad game and make sarcastic comments such as "this is the guy who will win us the quadruple" and silly other sarcastic comments like that. The guy is nothing but an annoying troll. I mean look at his profile pic. He saw Lukaku's passing percentage against Watford was 36% so the clown finds this amusing and puts a Lukaku Chelsea shirt with number 36 as his avi. He is embarrassing. Just look at some of his posts. He seems to actually think we are buying Lukaku to sit on the bench. I don't even know why I keep falling for his utter stupidity when it is clear he is a massive troll.

No I get what you are saying I just never was a fan of people being ganged up on even if they bring it on themselves, it gets to the point people are just waiting to pounce because that's now trendy, I've never engaged in that even if I agreed, but yes it isn't ideal the way he puts across his criticism and you can watch other videos where lukaku makes plenty of clever touches so it's not truly representative, so it's not that I don't get why he gets on your tits.

For what it's worth although I don't like lukaku I think he will get 25 goals for us next season if he comes, and I think he could be deadly if used correctly, I just can't seem to warm to hm though, having said that as soon as he bags a goal in a chelsea shirt it will be easy to take a liking to him, I used to think costa was a c**t at Athleti, because basically he is, but when someone is a c**t to your opposition while he represents you it makes you warm to them, unless it get's to the point it's too much which he did sometimes. Lukaku isn't c**ty he seems like a big huffy diva who rates himself, and I fear it may impede his ability to learn, for me thats the sticking point.

I'm also one that doesn't give a toss about fees because we can afford it and I want the best, however if we are going to sling 80 mil, I'd want to see us give it a shot at bagging someone like Aubameyang, I feel we are going for lukaku because Everton still owe us money and may take traore off our hands, I think there is economics at play not just football.

I am sorry but i am not Sold on Lukaku. His first touch is atrocious and his back to goal play  is terrible. The only thing he has is potential . i dont mind us buying him but i dont want us getting raped with the transfer fee.

what is too late. there are other great prospects. Aubemyang is better than lukaku and psg are offering 40 mill. I dont mind lukaku i just dont want us overpaying for him. I trust Conte wont overpay for anyone. I remember napoli asking for 60 million for Kouliballly and conte said f**k that and got luiz. I dont mind Lukaku but the price has to be right thats all i am saying. we can play hardball and let his contract go to the final year and then they wud be forced to sell or risk him leaving for free. We have played lukaku many teams while he was at everton and i have always paid extra emphasis to him bcoz we sold him and have never been impressed with him. He can be a great striker but he has a lot to work on. Whenever i see Debruyne i am like that is a great player that got away. Never felt that way about Lukaku. Also look at his record in the big games, we need a player that can step up in the big games he hasnt shown that for everton or Belgium...

In Conclusion I will take lukaku but only for the right price.  MAximum 45 mil since we sold him for 36

One. Aubameyang is not going to PSG for 40 mil. Dortmund will sell for much higher. If PSG are offering that for him, he will not end up there.

Two. This big game this is such a cop out. Lukaku may not score consistently against big teams however he has scored against them. He scored against City, home and away this season. Scored against Spurs. The other big games, Koeman has been so defensive, any striker would have difficulties. Against us, at the Bridge, they couldn't even get the ball out their own half. Same against Liverpool. Every season his record will show he has scored against some 'big team'. Name all the big teams he has played and he has scored against all of them.

Would you take Kane? For me the best striker in the PL. One goal against the 'big teams'. Poor record though against the big teams so stay well clear? In fact most of the strikers this season have not performed against the big teams. Sanchez is not generally good against big teams in the league but that means we should not buy him? Jesus, this idea that we should not sign him because he don't perform in big games pisses me off.

Maybe he has not shown that for Everton but one thing for sure is we have not seen him play for a big club against another big club. Wait until he is at a big team with world class players and see his record against the big teams because I am sure at the peak of his career, this idea that he struggles against big teams will be laughed at.

Count me in the "not sold" on Lukaku camp, but with Costa out and Morata not likely, I guess he is our target.

Hey, maybe we are putting together the Belgium national team, Courtois, Hazard, Batshuayi and Lukaku.

Who else can we sign?

Come on you Chelsea!!
