About scoring against the top clubs.

Can't exactly laugh at United now with the Pogba fee when we will pay more for Lukaku.

It really does show how football prices have went to the ridiculous with 80 plus million quoted for a guy like Lukaku who isn't anywhere near the top strikers in the world.

Well it would appear it's us when Sky are doing articles like this:

I think it's as nailed on as when Bale went to Real. It's a very similar transfer in many ways, both clubs stayed relatively quiet during the actual negotiation period and then he went for a big fee.

85 premier league goals at the age of 24. I think Lukaku and Kane are the only players that will ever come close to Shearer's record if they stay in the Prem.

I thought Rooney was a shoe in to match Shearer's record a couple of years back but looks like the record is going to take something special to beat.

I'd back Kane on current form, not sure Lukaku will stay in England his whole career.

Really makes you appreciate how many goals Shearer actually scored. You'd have to score 20 goals a season for 13 years just to equal it, amazing really.

Not only that, he did it playing for Newcastle (mostly).

Imagine if he had gone to Manchester United when he had the chance.

Scary to think what someone like that would be worth in today's market.

at 26 when he was sold to castle? English and a Lock for 25 goals a year, would prob cost around 150 mil lol

Sounds like a done deal, really can't see him moving to the Manchester clubs, and Spurs/Arsenals aren't in the game at all. Whatever price we pays, it will be hugely inflated, I guess we have to take it as what it is, proven scorers are hard to come by. As much I have my doubts about him, he's realistically the top 3 options we have.

Barney Ronay on Lukaku being outspoken on leaving Everton

"Meanwhile Romelu Lukaku is doing a decent job of convincing everyone he’s one of the most valuable footballers in the world, if only by weight of constant, self-regarding repetition, like the boy at school who gets to be captain because he’s got a really good pair of boots and he keeps going on about how he might have a trial with Norwich."

Made me laugh anyway.

Well this isn't good enough, laziest striker in the league in a team that wants to press from the front, he is going to have to get his arse in gear if he wants to lead our line, I really don't like this guy, I hope he proves me wrong.

Only thing Morata has proven is that he isn't good enough to start for a top team. An impact sub against tired legs is all he's worth. Lukaku consistently does it in the best league in the world.

I would personally take morata over Lukaku but I agree he is a bit unproved in a consistent run, also if you look back at spains competitive matches Diego usually starts before him so he is a downgrade with potential Lukaku same boat, as stands Diego is a better all round striker, but a case has to be made for a guy who can score 25 at a team like Everton, has scored consistently when out on loan and is that young, if he can get his lazy arse to run and take that arrogant look off his face I might be able to get behind him

Lets slow down on the 'he's lazy' narrative. Sure he may not run his socks off but I don't imagine Benzema or Zlatan do either, could be wrong. Being an active annoyance is a big part of Costas game and Conte is probably more demanding tactically and in workrate from players than Koeman. I seem to remember Lukaku basically being a stationary outlet for them at the bridge, whether thats tactically designed or all him idk but I think most of us recognize if we sign him there will be some extra motivation. Fighting for 7th and the Europa League doesn't exactly inspire greatness.

At the end of the day, I want my striker to put the ball in the back of net, off of his foot, his head or his ass. As for those calling him a downgrade, don't be silly, reading some of the comments, you would think Lukaku is absolutely sh*te, he would be a good signing.

It's odd reading some of the comments about Lukaku from some fans. When he was out on loan for us, everybody was saying we should bring him back and give him a chance, now that he is an even better player than he was back then, a lot of people are saying they don't want him.

No no, you dont seem to understand out of 48 strikers in the league he is number 48, I don't know if he makes his bed in the morning and throws his dirty y-fronts in the laundry basket but in the context of a striker and in football terms he is a lazy striker, the laziest in the league bar none as the figures show.
