I think that the 'boater hat photo' was taken in the early 20th century !

Looks as if they were on their way to the Henley Boating Regatta and somehow got lost !

A 16 year old called Derek Johnstone of Rangers has just headed the winner v Celtic.

This was in the League Cup Final in Oct 1970. In front of 106,000 fans . Derek would play a couple of times for us in the 1983-84 season.

A great cross from Bud to setup the header from Johnstone. In the picture of his header it looks like our future player, David Hay.

 A very good player who was very unfortunate with injuries, when he played with us.

Dune running!!! I wonder do any teams still do that. Was a big thing back in the 70s 80s for preseason. One of the teams I played with done it a couple of preseasons. Consisted of going up on the Saturday morning, doing  a really hard session for a couple of hours. Booking into some cheap nasty accommodation, fish and chips and getting absolutely lashed. Next day after breakfast was back to the beach and train until almost everyone throws up. Whole thing was a bit of a waste of time fitness wise but got the group together I suppose. Second year saw a massive scrap so it was binned after that.

 

These pictures states it's 'Glasgow Rangers at Gullane' and the sand dune facing the players was known as 'Murder Hill !'

On 30th May 1957, Real Madrid won their second consecutive European Cup, beating Fiorentina 2-0.

The Real players are pictured celebrating with the Cup.

Real were playing in their own Bernabeu Stadium and in front  of a massive and mainly Real Madrid supporting crowd of 124,000 !

The first leg was marred by ugly violence in the first round against Real Madrid B side Castilla. This game was played in the Santiago Bernabéu .

This violence had resulted in the death of a West Ham fan.

West Ham were ordered by UEFA to play the home leg behind closed doors

Kevin Keegan lands a punch on Billy Bremner.  August 1974.   The first time the Charity Shield match had been played at Wembley .

Both were sent off and handed bans.

 Peter Osgood playing for Southampton v Lou Macari of Man Utd in the 1976 FA Cup Final.

Southampton won 1-0,in one of the greatest FA Cup Final shocks. ! Utd had been flying high under Tommy Docherty and Southampton were in Division 2.

Mind you they had Peter Osgood and one of the then current England strikers, Mick Channon as their main strikers.

Football in the winter back in the early 1980s.

Very few clubs had under soil heating back then.

An England team training session at Stamford Bridge.

This was ahead of their upcoming international match against Wales at Ninian Park In Sept 1965.

 

Don't recognise too many of those, Nobby Stiles, Jack Charlton and Bobby Moore is all I can identify.

One of the best British footballers of all time.
