January 4, 20179 yr We were poor all over the pitch. Hazard should have scored. We got bullied into submission. We are still top 5 points ahead of Pool and 7 points ahead of the Spuds but what i'm worried about is our confidence level. This could be very detrimental in the long run losing to these scumbags. I'm dreading the Pool match already. Terrible night.

Alonso was poor. Moses poor. No service to Costa whatsoever. I'm not sure this system really works against the better sides. Sure it's fine against the smaller clubs, because they find it much tougher to break through your defence and then are more suspectible to the counter attacks, but it was totally nullified today because Spurs pressed us high up the pitch, and we didn#t close Erikisson down yet again and they make us pay. Against City if they hadn't missed 2 sitters we'd have been about 0-3 down and wouldn't have won that either. I think when we come up against better sides, we really need to stop sitting back so much and press them high up the pitch as well. Record would have been nice, but the league position at the end of the season is what's important. I think this formation is definitely still a work in progress. Sometimes we really struggle to switch from defence to attack. We tend to have periods where we are very good at one or the other but rarely both. We need to find a balance. When we play with pace i think we look a lot better in this formation, we tend to struggle when we slow down. Our midfield gets overrun when we play slow which brings mistakes out of the likes of Matic and Kante. A few teams have exposed that weakness of ours many times even during the 13 win run. It's been a great run of wins though even with the formation not quite being perfect yet. Hopefully going forward we realise that playing with pace is what works best for us because every time we have played the slow game, it has been a grind.

Did ANYONE really believe we'd add another 19 in a row on top of the 13 in a row? Come on now.
January 4, 20179 yr What we oughta do is keep our serenity and above all remain concentrated and try to get maximum points from every match Also i get fed up by the overconfidence some people here have. The league is not over until may, don't crown chelsea champions already As fergie used to say, this is when the league really begins
January 4, 20179 yr for once I think the post match punditry is about right - Souness very balanced in his view. We lost to the better team on the night in a game of tight margins. We can't lose at Anfield though.

They can w**k to the DVD of the win all they want. We're focused on winning the title. Might as well still be beating yourself up for the 3-0 loss to Arsenal earlier this season then. It's not like we've won at sh*t Hart Lane in 3-4 years.

Yeah a loss in anfield is not an option I watched the 1-2 with a liverpool supporting friend of mine I keep telling him how we're gonna talk again in january A win there is a must Also a win against 4rsenal at the bridge If we win those two matches i'll be confident for the title
January 4, 20179 yr Funk them, let them have their moment of glory and making DVDs of the game that will be sold in charity shops for 10p in years to come, they are a small vile club, won nothing since the 60s, who cares about them, this is a marathon, not a sprint, we matched them tonight apart from Dave having a howler against someone who will soon sign for a big club, they always sell their decent players, Bale, Modric, they are scum of the earth, always were, always will be, they may be jubilant tonight but deep down they are hurting, years and years and years of hurt.
January 4, 20179 yr Oh well it hurts more because its that lot. They did deserve to win it, but I wasn't over impressed with them I feel they just shaded it and if it stayed 0-0 at half time I feel it could have been a different outcome. Ali done to us what Pedro done to them earlier in the season. Keep the faith people. And by the way Martin Tyler is still an utter cock!

January 4, 20179 yr Disappointing to start the new year off this way. Is what it is though, if you underperform against a side like Spurs you pay a price and that is what we did. Got to give credit to them, as much as that is not something that you normally see on here but well done to Spurs. From the sounds of it, as I did not see the game, they deserved it so credit to them. They talked before hand about beating us, had the whole of the premier league on their backs hoping they would beat us, and they delivered. Well done to spudulike too an sure he is enjoying his evening now. To be fair before this round of fixtures started had I been offered 5 ahead of Liverpool and 8 ahead of arsenal I would have taken it. That is our second most difficult remaining league fixture done, Liverpool being the most difficult and United rounding out the 3rd imo. We need to bounce back against the foxes and then hull. Today is a set back and not a good start to a run of 5 difficult games, but we can recover. We Need maximum points from those next two games though, we need to maintain a minimum gap of 5 before we play Liverpool.

If we can pick up maximum points between now and then, there's every chance United could get a draw or win. It's at Old Trafford after all.
January 4, 20179 yr What i'm hoping for is for liverpool to lose/draw against united at the old trafford If we manage to be victorious against the foxes and the tigers, and smash liverpool afterwards we'll finish the month 8 points clear Edited January 4, 20179 yr by JT_<3

United are playing very well at the mo, there is every chance they secure some sort of result at OT. However we have to do the job ourselves. The foxes beat City at home, they are capable of pulling off a good display even if their league season has fallen apart on them.
