Stats aren't everything, I rather like the eye test too. The stat that stands out though is 5 shots on target from all that possession, and how many of those 5 were clear goalscoring opportunities? We can copy paste the pool game's stat where they had 69% possession, had more possession, touches, passes etc. We were comfortable though. Liverpool barely looked like they would score, very similar to our performance until hazard came in. Its not like we were cheated out of the game by not getting a couple of penalties. We knew how huddersfield would play and how they would have set up, just like they did against city, we CHOSE to not play our best player, our no.1 GK, our in-form striker. We could have had 5 or 6 and their goal was a bollocks combination of a thuggish tackle and a hoof upfield, a back three that were off their game for a split second and a big lumbering bloke running straight through our goalkeeper without sanction. Just imagine, if you can, Diego last year running through a keeper like that. Can you honestly say he wouldn't have been penalised? We didn't play like champions, I'll grant you, but to call that performance "abject" is just hyperbolic nonsense, or just being contrary for contrary's sake, Would be difficult to score 6 goals when we only managed 5 shots on target. Our shooting, mainly from outside the box is horrendous.
May 11, 20188 yr Don't be a prick - we were totally dominant, and didn't score as many as we should have. My point was that to call that performance "abject" is to be totally unrealistic, self-entitled and spoilt.

Not being a prick but dominating possession doesn't mean much when you can't make goal scoring opportunities. The only efforts i could see us scoring from was Christensen's header and if Morata had gone down when he rounded the keeper. Even the goal we scored was a Huddersfield error.
May 11, 20188 yr I see that my stalker-bitch is following you around to click like every time we interact :) Sad little boy. Any road up, you might make some points, but, obviously, are ignoring my point. Under no circumstances whatsoever could that performance be called "abject". Not at all. Failing to achieve the score-line such dominance expected, yes. But f**king "abject"? That's just plastic silliness. And also you and the original poster are ignoring the opposition, their target for the game of not losing and playing a ten-man defence, having just done the same to City, the epitome of perfect football according to some, and the fact that their goal came as a result of an accumulation of assaults on various of our players. So, ultimately, yes, it was disappointing that we couldn't break down a packed defence, but the overall performance was so far from abject that I think that comment by whoever it was was some just sort of hyperbolic over-reaction, typical of some of our armchair fans.
May 11, 20188 yr The obsession of calling fans plastic or armchair There's not an order of who's point of view is more respected based on how many football games they have been too.

His go to move as soon as he sees that someone has dared to have a different opinion than his. For someone taking so much offence on people name calling the manager, most of his posts are all name calling other posters. Makes you think about who is actually "spoilt".

Rudiger missed the 2 best chances of the game. It was a bad performance though, we played okay for 15 mins after hazard came on, and azpilicueta stayed wide to give us an out ball. Pity alonso didn't do the same on the other side.
May 11, 20188 yr It's just been the story of our season, not taking the chances when they come, hopefully next season it's different

I only remember the one Rudiger chance at back post. Probably should have tucked that away come to think about it. We looked MUCH better in the back 4. As you say with Azpi wide, if we had Emerson the other side i'm sure he would have done the same.
May 11, 20188 yr I'm still trying to work out how we can beat Liverpool at home but fail to do Huddersfield. If we can ship out guys like Pedro, Morata, Bakayoko (no chance), Drinkwater and bring in 3 top class players in those positions then we will be in a good place. We know we won't though, we never bloody do.

He had a free header from a Willian free kick second half aswell. The forwards have been criticised for the lack of goals this season, but this must be the lowest tally we have had from our centre backs in years.

Thing is he done it last season and with Juve plenty of times. I know his heart isn't in it anymore and that's probably why but it's inexcusable changing a winning team with 2 games to go...what is that all about? Tiredness? These not pro athletes with 3 days of rest? Anyway I digress, We will have record turnover and some players to sell so let's hope we have some proper quality coming in next season
