You know as well as I do that these can be famous last words in your 30s 😂

Ive a mate whos done this but hes in his mid 20`s. Tore his ACL playing RL, thought it was a pull and carried on played 3 games with it (A winger too). finally gave in and went to a specialist and he has an 80% ACL tear and other knee stuff. Going for a complete rebuild end of July, daft sod is even wanting to play one more game before the op as he wont play again for a minimum of 12 months.

That's pretty special, tearing an ACL as an RL winger...you run in straight lines

Literally what I said to him 😅

You'd think that, but you should see the NRL refs these days.

I thought VAR was bad

I avoid RL. Silly game. Bastardisation of the real game.

The Challenge Cup final was 1 hour and 55 minutes. 20 minutes of video ref and stoppages.

RL with the VR and Captains Challenge bullsh*t is an absolute sh*tshow at the moment, just bin off the CC or limit all reviews to 30 seconds max.

Or ban the silly game.

But then where would your much sillier game get all its top coaches from?

The quality of refereeing means the captains challenge is needed. What I would say is the video refs in rugby seem less likely to just back the ref like in football, but they take way too long to reach a decision.

I cant count the amount of times an obvious decision has taken multiple camera angles to decide what was clear first time and even then come to the wrong decision. The worst culprit is spending 5 minutes checking the grounding only to then to go back to an offside.

Not sure if you've seen the American film Friday Night Lights, but it just screams Booby Miles.

Tore his ACL, didn't want to believe it, misinterpreted his doctor, went on to play and permanently destroyed his knee.

That’s it, you’ve convinced me to watch 5 seasons of Friday Night Lights again.

It was great to see Estevao in several photos when the team returned to training, particularly what looked like team physical training on grass. He looked fit/strong also - very encouraging. Makes me question our medical team as he is three months post injury and knock on wood, on the right path. I guess time will tell given the media noted Chelsea recommendation for surgery.

I'm out of touch with this. So was his rehab done (without surgery) in Brazil with either national team physios or a former clubs? And Chelsea's medical staff suggested he went under the knife?

Going by memory, but recall at the time he returned to Brazil for non-surgical treatment. If you believe what you read, that was against the recommendation of Chelsea staff who wanted surgery. A month alter, the below BBC article confirmed time in Brazil to recover, was able to avoid surgery, and sources deny any disagreement on approach. So who knows!

One of the Chelsea medical staff went with him.
